2019 Husqvarna FE450 - Dirt Bike Magazine

Спорт

For those who say that Husqvarnas are just white KTMs, the FE450 is stark evidence to the contrary. There’s no 450 counterpart in the regular KTM line. Beyond that, the frame is different from that of the KTM EXCs because it has linkage suspension. The subframe is a polyamide unit that incorporates the airbox. The hydraulics for the clutch and the brake systems are made by Magura--all these are found only on Husqvarnas. Only the fork is identical to the unit found on the KTM dual-sport. It’s a WP Xplor coil-spring fork.
As for the motor, it’s the single overhead cam, electric-start design that’s based on the bike that Jason Anderson used to win the Monster Energy Supercross title. Like the Honda it’s detuned and houses a six-speed gearbox. Husky is considered a big manufacturer, so the bike must be very quiet and clean. Apparently, the noise standard is the toughest to meet. In order to pass, the engineers in Austria and the testing department here in America came up with some pretty interesting technology. For example, there’s a reed-valve between the airbox and the throttle body to dampen intake noise.
KTM 500EXC
The KTM 500 is the closest thing to a 450 dual-sport that KTM offers in its regular line up. There is a limited-edition Six-Days 450EXC that comes out each fall, but it’s hard to find and generally expensive. It has basically the chassis of the 500EXC with the motor of the Husky FE450. The motor in the 500 is similar to the 450s in the combined KTM/Husqvarna line, but gets its additional displacement thanks to a 72mm stroke; 8.6mm longer than the 450’s.
The one design element that’s most significant for the KTM is the use of PDS rear suspension. That eliminates the shock linkage and increases ground clearance. KTM also has completely different bodywork from the Husqvarna. Many of its components are different, too. It has a Nekken handlebar, Brembo brakes, Brembo clutch hydraulics and Excel rims. The aluminum subframe and the airbox are separated, but the bike uses the reed-valve in the airboot, just like the Husky.

Husky 450 hands down. Lighter bike with better parts. Much easier to tune and mod if you want to race it. Holds its resale value as compared to a Japanese bike.

Peter Southern Boy I love huskies but the new Honda is amazing. I’ll admit o never rode the 2019 crf450l but from everything I’m reading about it it is the best 450 dual sport out right now because of all the upgrades they have done to it

Americans must not get a KTM 450, in Australia we get the full model range of all manufacturers. Also in Australia and Europe these bikes are considered “enduro bikes” for enduro racing. I’m not entirely sure why it’s considered a duel sport at all in the US, it’s not designed for road use, just long hours on the saddle.. Americans are weird like that..

Andrew Imhof same as Australia and the rest of the world. I’m very happy my FE350 is also street legal. I just don’t get why all the North Americans call them duel sport and rate them on their road riding prowess. They are not. They are enduro racing machines, that can legally be ridden on the road.

I’m born and raised from Buffalo NY and I completely agree with you.. I think it’s because the actual sport of enduro racing really hasn’t taken off in America. Here, it’s all about motocross and super cross. Americans are just simple lol

The ktm 450 6 days is the the same bike with a pds rear shock instead of linkage, and Magura hydraulics instead of Brembo. Other than that stuff same bike.

Husky started it all in when? Remember that Honda and all the Japanese makers have had dual sport bikes way back in the 1980's. Oops, maybe you weren't on two wheels yet. Yeah, they've all come a long way since then and thank God! Give me a half liter bike any day over a 450. Glad Husky makes a 4 stroke bike. Make mine a two stroke 500. No wussies allowed.

the wrs are legal in oz the husky have no fun factor and no throttle response might as well ride a posty bike. the only thing any good on a husky is the weight other than that I think there a heap of shit would not own one with a ten foot pole
