Tritons Super Select never seems to get much of a mention...this Ute runs a centre diff so you can select 4 wheel drive and drive it on all road surfaces all the time and at any speed, no other Ute has this.Makes such a difference when driving on wet roads, and seeing so many of these twin cab utes are used for ferrying the kid around I don’t understand why they ignore this fact when doing reviews.

Bloody good point mate. My missus and I just bought a 2019 Outlander coz we could get AWD, rear air vents, bigger than our previous CX-5 space and much more for a great price, so now I'm seriously considering a Triton in future (sooner if I win lotto lol) coz I've had Disco's a few times and an 80 series Cruiser and love AWD on road for a fourby

I think depends on the market, not sure what it's like in AU but over in NZ by the the time you add your road user taxes and higher servicing costs any gains you make in economy of the diesel are gone so it costs the same to run as a gas powered V6. Advantage of the V6 though is much smoother power delivery and higher kw output so if your not towing 3.5 ton everyday (Most truck buyers aren't) then the V6 option would be better.

I have the top spec Amarok. As far as a ute goes it is terrible to load/reach anything in the tray. I have had to install extra load securing points as the 4 supplied are inadequate. I think the Amarok is a great car, but it is defiantly a lousy ute because of poor tray access and load binding. Everybody that drives it is impressed with the power and comfort. I have just completed a 2400km one way trip in 24 hours, return trip in 24.5 hours (stopped for a counter meal) not towing, 2 drivers. We could have comfortably driven a lot lot further without feeling fatigued. If you are over 6 feet tall then leg room becomes an issue for front seat occupants. I don't often carry passengers in the back seats so that is a non issue for me. The capability of the 4x4 compensates for the drivers lack of ability. I have been in a 4x2 where drivers of 4x4 vehicles struggle to get in/out of.

What you reviewers fail to mention is practicality and more importantly reliability. How many of these are gonna be left standing after 8-10 years? I just can't understand these kinds of reviews which are supposed to be fair and intended to help viewers decide on the best vehicle for their needs. So many mitsubishi haters out there with there big, gotta be a ranger or hilux mentality. Would not own a ranger after seeing the problems they have, or a hilux. The Raptor is a good Ute or Bakkie where I am from. But to say it pulls better than a 3.2 diesel wildtrack is total bull. They put out full torque, 470nm at 1200rpm. It's a lorry engine not a car engine like in all the others, including the Raptor. You will need a big V8 to better that. The things we pull out of ditches with ours you wouldn't believe. The Ranger Wildtrack is more Land cruiser than Hilux.

  • @dancresswell1018

Hmmmm... wildtrak comes in at $60k, can tow 1.5 ton more, you get adaptive cruise control and pretty much the same interior finishes as the raptor, you can throw a bull bar, snorkel, canopy and suspension kit on it and be around the same price point.. no brainer really.. not hating on the raptor it’s a awesome vehicle but for 75-80k should have more to offer in my opinion.

bighand69 a wildtrak costs $65k and the raptor about $84k, for a nearly $20k difference you’re getting a suspension upgrade.. you could drop $20k on a wildtrak and you’ve got an insane luxury off-road vehicle fully kitted out.. for me they should have put a V8 or a V6 Bi-Turbo or something special in it, same 2.0L Bi-Turbo engine as the Ranger.

  • @mangoshake

A modified Wildtrak still can't beat a stock Raptor in its best condition, and it's simply because the Raptor's ladder frame has a rear strut tower. You're stuck with leaf springs on the Wildtrak. That may be good if you like to tow, but I've never used my Raptor to tow. The most weight it's ever loaded for work was a generator. The most common item that's on the bed is my MTB. My main recreation for it is for blasting trails, so I don't care that much or at all about towing. No Wildtrak has ever caught up or gone through the same ruts as me.
