Perfect! I've owned the 2019 Kia Niro EV for two years and have been hesitant to put a hitch on it until I saw this video. I've just completed installing the hitch now and everything went exactly as described in this post.

Thank you for posting this 👍 I buying one of these next week and struggling to find a good hitch solution.

Thanks for watchin. At some point I anticipate doing the wiring video, but this particular niro is in the process of being bought back by the MFR, so all on hold.

I have a lot of personal projects I need to tend to first, but it's likely I'll end up having to do that wiring for him - in that event, I will naturally take some video of the process.

The portion of the etrailer website that this hitch is on has several comments that says that there is a significant downward angle to the hitch when installed. Is this really the case? Can you or did you do modifications to make it more level? I am only interested in the 1 1/4 hitch for a bike rack, thanks

planning to, but car is in the middle of a MFR lemonlaw buyback battle (theres an episode covering a bit of it on carbitrage podcast) will either do on this Niro if he gets a hush payment, or on the 2020 model year he replaces it with if they buy back

Is the undertray even necessary to reinstall? For a leased vehicle, I might leave mine off so there is no obvious tampering to the frame (to potentially void any warranty)

If leased through Kia, they allow hitch installations. I received permission in writing just in case, but they do not consider it a modification. They consider modifications to be things like replacing suspension components and other similar replacement jobs.

no, but you'll have significantly more drag, so absolutely do install it.

The e-trailer website shows "excluding Plug-In Hybrid and EV". Is that the right hitch?

standard niro hitch I believe will work. I don't own this thing, so hard to really say for certain :/ part number is in the video though, I remember that for sure.

If I used this for a cargo carrier, would this void my warranty?
