2018 World Championship Quartz Crystal Dig in Arkansas at Twin Creek Crystal Mine | Drone Footage
This is the first video in a series of two episodes of the 2018 World Championship Quartz Crystal Dig. Due to popular demand, I decided to make this video of mostly drone footage. Stay tuned for the full-length video of the Crystal Dig coming soon to this channel.
This annual event brings in rockhounds from all over the country in the search for the best clear quartz crystal point and crystal cluster. Held every year on the second weekend in October in the Quartz Crystal Capital of the world: Mount Ida.
There are multiple participating mines to dig at. The 2018 mine hosts were Twin Creek Crystal Mine and Sweet Surrender Crystal Mine. Both are great places, make sure to check them out!
All this footage was taken at the Twin Creek Crystal Mine, located within the Ouachita National Forest in Arkansas.

Which drone did you use? I have a Mavic Pro but would love the new Mavic model with 1" sensor..

I got the Mavic Pro. Great little drone to get started. The new ones do look amazing though!
Sucks I went the week before. They were holding out on the good sections of the mine specifically for the dig. So we didn't come up with very much at all.

That’s unfortunate. It does vary some but Bobby Fecho keeps the mine in top shape generally. I have always done well there. Keep trying, I hope next time is more successful!

The crystals are beautiful but the pit mine they are forming to get them is an ugly scar on mother.
