    What typically happens with these Nissan engines is over time, the main chain tensioner guide fails. The plastic guide has a hook at the top that keeps it up so that the tensioner can keep pressure on the plastic hump. That guide hasn't broke and the tensioner is not even extended. The cam tensioner guides are in good shape too. This is a clear issue of not changing the oil. Can't keep pressure on those tensioners with sludge. Good vid, and a tip for the crank bolt, break it free first before u do anything else. Just use a long breaker bar, brace it on the ground, and bump the ignition. Works like a charm, especially with these Nissans 😁

    Thank you so much for showing us this process. I have 2019 Pathfinder that started a cold start rattle last week....I'm praying it's just the main tensioner extended like this one. Not sure what else it could be......maybe the actuator motor for the vtc gear. I wish you were in GA.

    Bro… great job. I happen to own one of those turds and unfortunately have to do this on my own. But I love a good pregame video to see what I’m up against. I’d tell the customer to dump some seafoam in the oil itself. It should be clean that sludge out pretty nice. Great video.

    What about the “mistake” warnings? Does it mean the timing was off? Going through the same job and can’t find anything on the vq35dd on how to set the timing marks correctly. Can anyone share a diagram? Thanks!

    I’ve found the only way to get the harmonic balancer bolts is with a holding tool and a 30inch breaker bar . Occasionally my heavy harmonic balancer bolt sockets work with impact. But only occasionally

    I am struggling with the secondary timing marks. I have seen 4 videos telling me 4 different things. Is there a good reference or a way to know I have the secondary marks in the correct correlation before removing the main (1st) chain? I have rotated the engine over at least 100times.

    Traditionally, I thought a timing chain was good for the life of a car. My first car was a parental 9 yr old Ford hand-me-down, but it was a set of wheels and I was delighted. I came home for lunch as a teen and it never started again. (timing chain failure). Isn't this a little early for TC failure on a 2017/18 Nissan? P.S. Labor time is 11 hrs and my mechanic charges at least $140/hr labor making this repair starting at $1,540 + parts + taxes.

    If you keep the maintenance up, the chain can last the life of the engine. It's the other components that can go bad.

    The problem with this video is lots of talk but not much of showing,,, You don’t show every single bolt by bolt removal neither you show removing and installing the chain neither any of the timing chain marks and how to align it All these bolts should have torque specifications said in the video This video only shows YES IT CAN BE DONE WITH THE ENGINE IN THE CAR but you’re pretty much on your own 😂 Luckily there’s another video a guy spray painting his timing cover explaining how to set timing also the video is frozen for a sec with all cover bolt torque specs 19-21 and so on And honestly if you have let’s say scissor mid rise lift it’s easier to drop entire drivetrain with subframe and everything attached and then do it sitting on a chair then all this I mean this wouldn’t be so hard if there was actually a video of someone doing it with camera mounted on his forehead and following the hands bolt by bolt

    The only thing that matters is the most important demonstration…..ENGINE IN THE CAR

  • @seriouscarguys702

    @seriouscarguys702

    3 ай бұрын

    There are no other demonstrations of this being done on a pathfinder or QX vehicle all the other videos are 370s rear wheel drive vehicles front facing engine this is a side mounted and calls for the engine to be removed way different. And he showed the struggles the nervousness to start the vehicle, the mistakes, the corrections, everything you’re gonna go through. There are plenty of other videos with the engine out of the car that will show you in detail other steps he covered as well and with everything combined, should have the knowledge necessary to walk through this technical process. Thanks for sharing this info as a guy who does a lot of random work. This really helped me on my wife’s vehicle.
