2018 Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX SE Review

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

It’s funny how time’s arrow flies. Seems like only yesterday we were in a chill and rainy Milano for the big international motorcycle exposition, drooling over the showstopping new Ninja H2 SX with Sean Alexander and Brent J., knocking out non-award-winning videos and wondering what Kawasaki could possibly be thinking to produce such an outrageous motorcycle? Shirley it will be way expensive and unobtainable like the other H2s?
Lo and behold, here it is four months later and 6000 miles removed, and it’s just me flogging the green beastie up and down my favorite test circuit under clear desert skies - and I only am escaped alone to tell thee… not only is the H2 SX SE only $22,000, the base model’s just $19k. I hate to break the news, but that’s what a premium motorcycle costs now.

what an awesome bike for the money. I’ve been riding sport bikes and the sport touring like the zx-10 zx-12 and zx-14 for over 22 years. and comfort is getting to be a big thing as i get older but didn’t want a tank/couch on wheels. this bike is exactly what i want😃 you get the essential goodies. and more comfortable for the long trips.with lots of power👍 plus It still corners and stops probably as good as the bikes i have now if not better. ill defiantly be looking at getting my hands on one😎

I've been away from motorcycling for a long time. I remember Cycle magazine,Cycle World and Motorcyclist too. I remember the first issue of Sport Rider from Nick Ienastch,Lance Holt and new kid Jason Black. I am happy to see this bike. A lot of what I see makes me happy in new bikes. Kawasaki does what we all want from a bike company. Aim for a segment, kick the door down, make a bike without drawback or compromise. The GP bikes going 4 stroke has been great to push technology to the public. With ABS,traction control all the electronics. Syperchargers for God's sake! These are the things that make riders happy. Faster...safer....faster...better handling...faster....keep it up.

The best coverage of the new h2 sx bike out there. The thing that impresses me is the cockpit of this machine, it really looks well thought of and a somehow reminds me of a bmw m3/m5 cockpit/gauges, in other words very premium like.

I ride Zx1400r and have been looking at a replacement all the ones in our stores in Australia have been sold don't even make the show room so I haven't been able to see one let alone put a leg over. Don't understand people that buy without trying what is the seating position is like it could be too extreme for long distance touring just my opinion

I have a h2 sx se 2019 and i have only one gripe about the bike and that is the quick shifter. Going from 1st to 2nd it sometimes likes to go into nuetral then into 2nd. Has happened to me three times but luckily lowish speeds so no sliding or rolling down the asphalt. Besides that i enjoy riding the bike.

Yeah, I wish he'd addressed the value proposition a bit more. Only the SE model is available here (in Oz), and price wise it's up there against your Panigale V4S or BMW K1600 GT (although in a completely different category obviously). Around 50% more than Kawasaki's own 1400GTR and Ohlins/Brembo equipped ZX14-R SE. Neither the performance, features or level of equipment (no Ohlins/Brembo etc) seem to justify the price tag. The closest competitor in terms of features and performance would probably be KTM's 1290 Super Duke GT, which has semi active suspension, weighs 70lbs less, and the H2 SX SE still costs about 30% more.

  • @Texarmageddon

    @Texarmageddon

Not exactly the same weight now lol .. Base model ZX14 to base model H2SX there is a solid 30lb difference between the two. Better gas mileage and better potential without breaking the bank also. ZX14 has a more aggressive riding position, but it's usually loved by some and hated by others. If your back is starting to feel the miles and you want something more upright you look for this or a Ninja1000..

With all respect to the hard work of video production, I appears video-drone are nudging us into the dark side of infinite distraction. Oh yeah, what was the video about again?

Love this reviewer... I'm bored by some of the less expressive reviewers on KZread. Seriously you're great - If anything I'd like you to let your inner poet out more! If you don't feel inspired to poetry by a bike such as this then you've lost track of your soul somewhere along the road.

Agreed. Burns has a wry sense of humour, and has some beautiful turns of phrases at times. I feel that the only people who make truly unique motorcycle reviews are FortNine - everyone else is just parroting the spec sheet and covering the bike in plaudits.

Yeah I really think he is my favorite in the stable of reviewers. Not big on the intro but doesn’t piss me off like some of the other comments. Keep up the great work and I’m seriously looking forward to the new cb1000r review. Long live the hornet

The internet can be the quite unfortunate place to be a part of. Don’t read into this shit ol’ bud just keep doing what you do best and that is reviewing great motorcycles. I like the phase “it’s like your on a magic carpet” referring to the super duke. Man you got the dream job. 07’ 919

I actually didn't mind the intro, taking the piss with being deliberately overwrought and pretentious (reminded me of something from Hipster Bike Videos, like "Blood and Oil"), although the reading/monologue dragged on a bit too long. The cinematography and supercharger chirping was good though.

The intro was good, but maybe just have it shorter, 30 secs. It would be funny to have the engine sound interrupt the speach.

I would love this bike with Akrapovic exhaust, Brembo brakes, and Ohlins suspensions.
