Yes funny cars and other classes still race over the quarter but fuel dragsters race over 3000 ft at the pod .

American cars are faster. We have to run a shorter track 😁

I really enjoy the alcohol cars, to me it seems the nitro drivers have become pedal pushers and steering mechanism while a computer does the rest. The cars we used to call BB/FC are still a "stick and rudder" type of car where the driver’s skill and experience is built by making laps on middle of nowhere tracks that have never seen FS1 or ABC. Often the crew is made up at least in part by family and friends and to me they put on a great show! The multi-million dollar operations of the pro cars has priced all but a few out of the picture and then there is the NHRA that caters to nitro cars and I get it the nitro cars are more likely to have a catastrophic failure at a crazy speed and safety is 3rd but for me it's gotten a little out of control, we like the thunder and the way everything shakes from the 10,000 plus horsepower but make that an exhibition class, even Garlits feels there is too much horsepower not enough driver. And in my worthless opinion funny cars were still exciting when they made 2500 horsepower and teams visited the local junk yards for iron big block cores that would end up as a nitro burner in the future, that was the way things were when teams showed up with a ramp truck and small trailer.

Mike squire Top Alcohol cars use the same computers and timers the big show cars use. Racepak data recorders and 6 shooters (timing management). Nitro cars get more publicity because well, there nitro and make more noise and are more exciting to watch.

If you hit a pothole in one of those you will fly to japan
