2018 Accord first trip to the Shop. Bad TPMS Sensors?

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

So I have been having issues with my tires reading as flat in my car. Ended up having to get a TPMS sensor replaced. Not a big deal, but not something you want to deal with in a new car.

I bought the 2018 LX Accord back in January 2018. Love it. No problems here. Love the new body and the MPG. Drives great, very responsive. Love the all extras in comes with car for a base model. Especially love the remote start hack. Definitely no regrets here. Hope you got the issue resolved and haven't had any other issues.

Thanks for sharing. Unfortunately, mine has apparently gone bad after only 2 months. Discovered this yesterday, after two trips to a tire shop where both times all tires were checked, air added but the sensor continued to go off. Called the dealership, the service department rep said almost the very same words told to you; the weather, keep pushing the scroll button, it’ll go off in time, etc! Didn’t exude much confidence to me! I’ve got some time and I’ll be making a trip to the dealership in person to see what’s going on with this! I met someone with a 2018 Sport and is going through the same thing- TPMS not going off after fixing a flat! He had a flat but I didn’t! (Soho, mine is a ‘19 Sport, 2 months old with hardly any miles, and no flats) Thanks again for sharing! 👍

This also happened to me on my way into work. I took it to another dealer closer to work and had it checked. On the way home the light came back on. Took it to my dealer and had it checked this time I was watching. The previous dealer closer to my work overinflated my tires and I was told as u drive the tire pressure builds. My dealer said these systems are very sensitive. My dealer put the exact amount of air in each tire. I’ve driven the car for about 1000 miles after and I have not had any issues. It may be one of your tires is not at the exact level as all the others. My dealer said all the tires must be at exact level or it may cause the sensor to trip. I’m not a tire expert but after he insured all my tires were at the exact level, no more problem for me so far.

Well, also low ambient temperature can cause the tpms sensors to go haywire. Plus if those tires arent properly calibrated during the PDI inspection for the technician to catch then that can cause customers to catch the issue during their ownerships.

Thank you for the video and I am having the same problem as you. It pretty much started maybe 400 miles after I bought the car new. And every time they rotate my tires or give me an alignment the Low Tire Pressure Light comes on. I think it’s time I ask that it be replaced. Thanks!

Have a 2019 Sport (Canadian version). Mine went off first time at about 350 kilometers. Tire didn't appear low so I waited to check the tire pressure when the tires were cold. They were at 38! Let air out to the recommended 33. Later that day they came on again. Waiting to see if this is a regular issue. Still on my first tank of (dealer supplied) gas

I have only had my car one week (2018 Accord Sport 2.0 10 speed automatic), and like you, the second day I drove it, the TPMS sensors came on. I was on my way to the Napa Valley (less than an hour from my house), and of course it came on in the worst possible place, a few miles from a gas station. I too thought I had a flat tire, but when I finally got to a gas station, the tires looked fine, and when I tested the pressure, they were all fine. Actually, the tires were a little over-inflated at the dealership, so I'm thinking that may be the cause of the problem. Anyway, I texted the dealer, and my sales guy told me temperature changes and potholes can trigger the system, and to go into my settings and recalibrate the TPMS system, which I did. It worked for awhile, but then then later in the day, the warning light came back on again. I recalibrated one more time, and it's been 4 days and it hasn't come back on again. If it happens one more time though, I'm taking it to the service department and insisting they check/replace the sensors. I know it's a sensitive system, but it shouldn't happen so often!

Just bought my ex yesterday and as soon as I get off the lot a message popped up on the infotainment screen saying some about the sensor. Nothing else happened after that so I'm guessing the cars been in the lot for so long that the system had to readjust itself. Will keep my eye on it the next 48 to 72 hrs

  • @junito1008

They lied to you !! These cars don’t have sensors in each tire like regular cars…these Hondas check the tire pressure based on the rotation and irregularities of the tire radius. So this system is more sensitive because a simple bump on the tire o just 3psi can trigger it.

Your car doesn't have any TPMS sensors. The new Accords use the ABS wheel-speed sensors to determine relative tire pressure based on relative wheel speed. This is why the TPMS cannot detect when all four tires are low. You should check your paperwork to see what part(s) the dealership actually replaced.

I had the Honda dealership let aur out of my tire until it was pretty much flat. It had about 15psi in it causing it to eventually tear the tire all around. I went over it with them 3 times each time they did an oil change and finally gave up. Anyway here i am buying a new tire for 350 bucks. I also cannot stand that it doesnt tell you what tire it is. But all in all for the last 2 years i absolutely love this car.

I had an issue with my collision avoidance system dying, which turned off the cruise control. If I turned the car off and on, it reset the system. But, after driving some more, the system would kick off again. So....to be able to keep the cruise control working, I had to turn off the collision avoidance system. I found out, by searching online, that there was a service bulletin issued for this issue. I took the car to my dealer, along with the service bulletin, and they updated the software. I hope it works OK now. We'll see on my next trip.

The light is no longer displayed on the dashboard but will go on and off on the screen. The screen displays a car symbol and when pressed I have the TPMS warning. Dealer doesn't seem to know what's going on but tried calibrating it and told me to drive it. If it continues I will take it back and ask for a sensor replacement.
