I’m really tickled to have come across this today. 9 year old me had a set in 1970, I believe. It was fun to paint your teams uniforms on the players. I see it’s become a bit more sophisticated. I greatly enjoyed my set for a while. At some point I accidentally bent the field and that was that. But now I’m thinking about my retirement years. Hmmm...

Same here. I had a Cowboys vs Steelers one. I took them off their plastic base and just ran plays manually. I think I threw the foam rubber football once and it was gone forever.

My uncle pulled this game out of his shed about a year ago.He's got the Steelers and Packers with all original players in the original plastic bags.The players paint is very detailed.Its an amazing looking game.

I remember this game , it was in early 70's I was about 8 or ten years young . My late parents bought me this for Christmas , i only wish to learn the fundamentals. It's sad can't find them at any retail stores , that's when Madden came around the 80's . I didn't know they had a tournament for this , thank you for sharing this.

Damn, I got Electric Football when I was a kid, was so excited about it, and could never get anyone to play it with me even though I lived in the city (and my uncles supposedly played it when they were kids). Everyone thought it was just ridiculous, so I'm pleasantly surprised to see people playing it for real. True story: I also had Fantasy Football back when it was a box game in the dial-up Internet days and couldn't find anyone to play that with me either, lol. Now everyone and their mother literally plays it, I guess because it hardly involves any effort, and I haven't played anything online like that except Fantasy Baseball. Edit: Even though I think the ref "narrator" guy trying to talk up the game for real is comical, I love his history (pre-merger?) stuff.

To complete a pass, does the ball have to hit the figure in a particular place or any part of the figure is fair?

If the ball hits any part of the receiver, the pass is complete. It's an interception if the ball hits a defender.

Blurminator, Yes there is skill involved. We don't just put the figures on the board. Millions of Americans who had the game back in the day made that mistake. Those of us from that time who continued play; namely myself, have mastered the secret of this game.

@@Electriccoach Yeah it really seems like it. All the minor movements to the characters when the opponent makes an adjustment. It only seems dumb because I've never seen this kind of a game before. I bet if I had had this game as a child I would see it from a different, more understanding perspective. It also looks like a game I could get hooked on the first try. It's like chess with the difference that you don't have 100% control of your actions. Kinda like being a real american rules football coach

I got my Tudor Electric Football set for Christmas in 1973 when I was 9 years old. Teams were Cowboys and Dolphins. Bob Hates and Calvin Hill were my favorite players. Got two friends hooked on the game and we all played against each other all through grade school and Junior High. Rams-Redskins and Raiders were their best teams. Best game of my childhood!! One of my friends even built a wood stadium around his set. Thanks for the memories!

You can adjust the board speed to your liking. If it's too fast, turn the motor speed down until it's slow enough for you.

Joe, I have said to you before that the board speed can be adjusted to your taste. The guys in the video wanted the board speed set at that level. Moreover, if you think you can play better come to a tournament. I will be happy to scrimmage against you. If your idea of electric football is playing on a slow board, we will have to discuss that. This game is fast. Are you game enough to match up?

@@Electriccoach I hate to say it but I agree with the fact the board is set to fast. Has nothing to do with how someone plays. Yes, I understand you can set whatever speed you like. However the players shouldn't be bouncing so hard that they are falling over. That being said, it should also be what players agree upon and house rules.

I remember someone having this game in like 1987. I never knew how they “threw” the football. 32 years later, I have finally figured it out!

@@amancalledhawk5575 I played this game a couple of times on a late 80's version a cousin got at a swap meet...it had about 15 total players and no qb and no instructions we just made it up as we went...now I want a good set like this to play with my kids

Somehow your other video popped in my feed yesterday about the basics, thought it was very interesting, then this one popped up today. This game looks very awesome and that whole match had me like I was watching an actual game, had the holy crap moment at that last run TD, I'm probably gonna pick up a field my self now. I always received the Tudor Electric Football Set/Game for Christmas as a child growing up and in my opinion it is the 💫 Greatest toy ever invented!!! 💫

This is the game that I saw under my parents bed and on xmas was from Santa and I still have it. When it got close we'd tap our finger lightly on the field so you could pinpoint the tackles. My players have dials on the base so you could have a wr run a curl pattern.

I have never seen this before and don't know why it popped up in my feed. But I watched the whole video because of the commentary 😂

Holy hell, that was ridiculously entertaining! I started by randomly searching for the original trailer for this toy, and 30min later I found myself subscribed and cant wait to binge this. Hell, I may even crack open a beer and invite my buddy to come over. It's kinda funny, but it's also legit fun to watch!

Hey Krunchy, That is why the game is special. You can play it the way you want in your own league. If you ever participated in a tournament, the board speed is going to be a bit higher.

i have no idea how i stumbled upon this but i played this as a kid. wish we had these rules tho. also had baseball and the hockey game with the rods and slots for player movement. so cool!!!!

Roman, A pass is completed when the ball hits any part of the receiver. If the ball hits a defender, it's an interception. If it misses or hits the board first, the pass is incomplete.

When it’s stated a pass, the offense is handed the control. Once switched on then off, if a receiver is not engaged (touching a defender piece) and past the line of scrimmage, a pass can be made by stating the number of the intended target, then using the throwing piece to aim and literally fling the football at them. If it hits the target you named by number, it’s complete. An engaged receiver, or missed target on the turf is incomplete. A hit on a disengaged defender piece is an interception.

I remember playing this when I was a kid. We called it the EFL. There were six of us with a weekly schedule and payoffs. Usually the ball carrier would either vibrate directly to the sideline with no defender even close to him or he would vibrate 180 degrees and start running the wrong way. Passing took lots of practice. Those were the days.

Keep in mind that the rules can be what ever you want them to be. Rules vary from one tournament to another. Play is based on the rules mandated by the tournament in question. I don't care what anyone has told you about this game; there is no one set of rules for this game. Usually the defense sets up while the offense is setting up. I doubt that anyone will ever read this, but your history relative to the Baltimore Colts is just plain wrong... First of all, it is generally considered by NFL historians that the NFL should have taken the Buffalo Bills instead of the Baltimore Colts as the third team from the a a a f c the bills ownership had far more money and the attendance at Buffalo Bills games was second only to the Browns in the history of the aafc. the Colts had attendance problems and severe money problems going all the way back to their beginning as the Miami Seahawks in 1946. It was obvious that the Bills should have been the third team, but the Colts somehow won out. So in 1950, A team named the Baltimore Colts did in fact join the NFL complete with quarterback y a tittle. But they sucked... And only lasted one year. The team we now knows the Colt started as the Boston Yanks in the 40s. Their owner move them to New York City at the first opportunity, naming the team the New York Yanks. they couldn't compete with the football Giants however, and in 1952 the Yanks were moved to Dallas Texas where they became the Dallas Texans. The franchise died in Dallas too, as it was taken over by the league four games into the 1952 season, moved to Hershey Pennsylvania, and made a road team for the rest of the year. The Dallas Texans only won one game, upsetting the Chicago Bears on Thanksgiving Day in Akron Ohio. after the season, Caroll Rosenbloom bought the franchise from the NFL, moved it to Baltimore named the team the Colts. That is where the modern-day Colts came from.
