2017 Rogue Record Breaker - Brian Shaw's 560lb Manhood Stone / 4K

Спорт

Rogue Athlete Brian Shaw is arguably the greatest stone lifter in history, and each year he's the only person beating his own world-records. During the 2017 Rogue Record Breakers event, after decisively winning the Arnold Strongman Classic the night before, Shaw hoisted a 560 lb. stone over a bar and secured another world-record stone lift.

    The announcer says "the greatest strongman we've ever seen". Not quite: Shaw is now 5 time world champion but so is Mariusz Pudzianowski.

  • @tommuncey7454

    @tommuncey7454

    Brian Shaw has 4 WSM titles, not 5. But anyway, the Arnold Strongman Classic is widely regarded as a better test of maximum strength, which has been won 8 times by Big Z, in addition to his 4 WSM titles. Equalling Shaw. So, whilst Brian Shaw has revolutionised strongman in recent years, there is no denying that to date Big Z is "the greatest strongman we've ever seen". As for Mariusz, he was an unbelievable athlete, but in terms of shear strengths is completely overshadowed by both Shaw and Big Z.

    When watching these videos, everyone one of us get an utterly distorted view of what things really weigh, because these monsters make things look so easy. So we go into the gym, load up some weight, and find out goddamn 200lbs is heavy as fuck.

    @Michael Miller Or when Olympic Heavyweight weightlifters clean and jerk over 500lbs, or Strongmen Log Press 450-500 lbs. I tell people, just go to the gym next time they get a chance, find any standard Olympic bar, set it on the ground and load it up with 500lbs. 5 coins on each side, 10 plates total gets you to 495...close enough. Halfway through this they will start to realize something is wrong because it's hard as fuck to even LOAD the bar. Now, when they have 495 loaded....try to lift it off the ground. At all. Try to even break it from the ground. Try to even move it. Pretty much no one can. Now...imagine pressing that thing...over your head. It's only then that it starts to sink in what these guys can do.

    Well a few years ago he met Phil Heath and he said that in training the heaviest stone he'd ever loaded was 558 lbs and he'd loaded that over a 4ft bar, but the heaviest one he'd ever picked up off the ground but hadn't loaded yet was 629. He then went on to say that one of his goals is to before he's done load a 700 lb atlas stone. This was easier than the 555 he did last year. 700 is just on another level. I knew Eddie Hall could get the 500 kilo deadlift it was just a matter of when but I didn't expect him to get it so soon. I think it's the same deal with Brian. Maybe one of these days he will get that 700 and that will be a sight to behold. I'm a strongman historian and an amateur athlete myself although my best atlas stone is only 80. it's one of those things where you can't appreciate just how tough it is until you try it yourself and these guys at the elite level are absolute freaks and make it look so easy. I also met both Brian and Eddie and they are both top men in person. Can't wait to see those 2 clash at World's this year

  • @mnikhk

    Yeah I remember I dont get it if he has done a 585 that many yeara ago he should have been able to load 600 by now unless some injury prevents him and hes regaining strength on stones or maybe out of excitement he rewieghed that 585 stone and it was a mis calculation?

  • @adamkhalfaoui8875

    @adamkhalfaoui8875

    7 жыл бұрын

    It was 558 not 585. I think it's like any top athlete if they break a world record a little bit each time they get more money, sponsorship and endorsement deals etc... that is needed much more in strongman than say bodybuilding. Also when you go for a world record 1 of 2 things will happen; 1 you get it or 2 you injure yourself and sometimes beyond repair. Brian famously does what he needs to do. Perhaps he's just waiting for the right time to make a statement. We'll see

    Way late to this thread, but I expect to see him break his own record by 5-10 pounds every year until he KNOWS he can do the 700. Probably in five years or so (likely when the record is 600) Then he'll throw it over, look at the crowd and say: theres the mark. And retire as the greatest at Manhood Stones. Ever.
