2017 Honda Civic AMSOIL Coolant Change

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This is the final fluid change we've done on Vladimirs 2017 Honda Civic definitely check out all the other fluid changes we did on his little angel - 2017 Honda Civic Fluid Changes - • 2017 Honda Civic AMSOI... Honda Civic CVT
The AMSOIL Low Toxicity Coolant we used is great because it protects your engine 5 years or 150,000 miles. You have the ability to mix your coolant to the ratio you like. We also used the AMSOIL Dominator Coolant Boost that helps with heat transfer & will pull more heat out of your block witch makes more power for your engine & will give you more heat faster when you start your car in the morning when its cold. Your engine will get to operating temp faster which will get you off idle up and save you gas and will extend the life of your motor oil because you will have less gas contamination in your motor oil because you wont be running rich for as long at start up.

    You should actually take the total capacity of the cooling system deduct 30% and then add 70% straight antifreeze because you flushed the system with distilled water and there's straight water in the motor. Then just fill completely and you know you'll have the correct antifreeze to water ratio. Love that you flushed and filled with distilled water a couple times to get as much of the stock antifreeze out before adding the good stuff. Love amsoil products, I use it in all my vehicles.

But at the dealer they want to change the oil every three months and i read the manual and It is like you said one year since it is synthetic. Also Im interested in taking good care of the civic hoping it will last a long time. I am very happy with my honda civic 2017. I am from Puerto Rico as well. We are in a very HOT humid climate and we drive hours, in traffic jams. Due to that fact, I do not do it by time or months. As soon my car gets 3000 miles I began checking the oil every couple weeks or so depending on my driving. I will change when it starts to get a little dark brown like a used penny. I also use full synthetic. But in reality in PR, we are not flat, the mountain driving hills, high temp outside, that is what I rely on. No millage no months.

    But maybe you have worse oils in Puerto Rico, haha. Just kidding. I live in Slovenia (Europe), and the recommendation is 1 year, but I don't know how many kilometers, I think 15,000. Otherwise, the car tells me when it needs to be serviced soon, because the computer monitors the driving conditions. They pour me 0W-20 oil, from Shell.

    The best cooling is going to be less coolant and a higher percentage of distilled water and then you'd also want to appropriately add the Dominator coolant boost which is the little red bottle. Of course you can still run the Amsoil 50/50 coolant they are excellent I like the low-toxicity biodegradable because it lasts very long and also you can mix it to the exact percentage you like

    That car is going to be a little tougher than most you're going to see there is a hose at the bottom of the radiator that hose has to come off in the fluid is going to go everywhere it's going to go both directions out of the radiator and out of the hose and then you have to fill it up from the top of the radiator with the top hose so some of the hoses are going to have to come off is what it looks like to me and it just looks like a pretty drawn out type of job

    Some great questions honestly I don't know anything about that coolant you mentioned personally I run Amsoil low toxicity biodegradable coolant because of the great benefits you can mix it to the ratio you want also it needs and exceeds all the major specifications and your vehicle will run longer and stronger better performance and it has the lifelong formula which a long life formula which means it's good for 5 years 150,000 miles. This will give you the fluid capacities for your vehicle also I recommend the Amsoil Dominator coolant boost the orange bottle will make a big difference on warm up time you'll notice your heater core will also run more efficient with hot air coming out of your vents. ♥️ Find The Right Fluids For Your Vehicles - www.amsoil.com/guides/?zo=5331179

    Yes I usually do two to four drain and fills just depending on the component and how much comes out some coolants you can get 90% out others you can only get about half so I go by the vehicle. I go until I get about 90% of the old stuff out. And you can see how the color will change as you drain and fill it and start the car and idle it turn heater core on and you'll heat it around high and you'll circulate all the fluids. Most cars take three drain and fills.

    Sure you would want to use the lookup guide and see what viscosities your ATF fluid is. Find Products For All Vehicles - www.amsoil.com/guides/?zo=5331179 Most of those cars are just a drain and fill which is pretty easy some of them have a transmission pan that you have to take off and change the filter but if it's like most Hondas all it is is a drain and fill very simple you'll see I have a playlist on transmission fluid changes and you'll see how simple the Honda's are

  • @Syntheticoilprotection

    @Syntheticoilprotection

    Ай бұрын

    Great question yes my personal favorite is the white bottle it's called propylene glycol it is a concentrate the best part is you can mix it to the ratio you want for instance if you're doing high heat driving like here in Las Vegas I personally choose to run 33% concentrate 66% distilled water and I run the Dominator coolant boost it has a really good heat transfer warms up super fast and runs like it's cold out when it's 109° out my car runs like it's 50° out it's amazing the difference the other benefit is how it protects the water pumps and keeps from pitting the aluminum there are it is a special chemical in that chemical seems to lubricate the pump better and it seems to run a little bit quieter so that's my personal favorite and that's why I put that in all of my personal cars and recommend it on the channel also it has a longer life for instance like a Honda coolant for severe service would be somewhere in the neighborhood of a year and a half to 30,000 miles where the Amsoil coolant I've already used in personal cars for about 5 years in the coolant is still in great shape here in Las Vegas so it holds up really well in the heat and meets and exceeds all the toughest specifications for 18 wheelers and that's a tough thing to meet because of how hot they run and that's why I like the plan so much is for the extra protection. It's always good to clean the radiator with a Degreaser you can get coil cleaner at the auto parts store or Home Depot that will clean the aluminum fins if you don't have that one you can also use a mixture of simple green will decrease and clean the dust out of the radiator will help the heat transfer better cooling better power. For those with the 1.5T the petcock is damn near impossible to reach.. I was able to barely brush it with my pointer and middle fingers but could not get a grip on it. I ended up having to drain the coolant thru the lower radiator house that is held on by a clamp. Maybe it is just me but the 1.5T seems significantly more difficult to work on due to lack of space.

    Yeah but the 1.5 is so worth it. Often I'll flush my cars with a garden hose. Then dump in a cleaner to help clean everything, including what ever minerals were in the water from the hose. Then I'll do another flush with distilled water. Yes, very important to run your heater, there's also ways to help burp the system. Like raising the front end as high as you can while the car is running with radiator cap off etc etc etc.

    @jawknee21 yes sometimes they change their radiator mid model year or possibly you could have a different motor than he has his car is the 2 L not the turbo I think we misspoke on the video so definitely worth checking the other side of the radiator underneath sometimes the petcock can be smack dab in the middle of the radiator as well in some vehicles have no petcock but most of the Hondas all have a petcock and they're very easy to get to just take your time it's tough to see but you should be able to find it and be able to reach down and get it

    When you do the coolant flush with just distilled or deionized water, doesn’t some of the water still get stuck in the engine block? How do you fully ensure you get out all the water from the engine block? I know you have to run your car with the heater on high and get it hot with the temperature gauge in the middle but when should you drain the water from the petcock? Immediately or wait till it cools down? Because… If water is still stuck in the engine block and you put in a 50/50 mix of water and coolant, then that means you’re 50/50 coolant water mix has less coolant in the system since you won’t be able to fill it with the amount the Honda Civic manual says because of the water that’s still stuck in the engine block.

    Great questions here Edward! Depending on the vehicle and what type of driving you're going to be doing and environment there's a couple different ways you can go about it. Number one I personally recommend low toxicity biodegradable coolant that's my personal favorite it meets and exceeds all the major 18 wheeler specifications and it's a concentrate so you can mix it to any ratio you want. Have had great results with it with many vehicles on the channel. I also couple in the Dominator coolant boost which I highly recommend compatible with all other makes models and colors coolant types. If you have to use 50/50 one way you could do it is you could keep track of how much goes in and out considering the ratio of the total fill in that way you can suck a little bit out later after you fill it with the 50/50 and add straight concentrate in of that coolant type that would be one option. The third option would be doing several drain and fills with the 50/50 as the final which would be on the pricey side because you'd be basically wasting extra coolant that wouldn't stay in the block but if you kept draining and filling it eventually you'd have almost perfectly 50/50. I highly recommend it the first option that's what I use on my personal vehicles with Incredible performance games. Smoother idle less vibration quieter and I can feel a difference in warm up time. I haven't done a dino yet but I definitely know there is more wheel horsepower I would say on a really small car about 2 to 6 wheel horsepower by going to the Dominator going boost and the low toxicity biodegradable coolant compared to Old OEM coolant that's oxidized.

On the 1.5L the petcock is in the same place, but to get there you have to remove the intake resonator. It was a pain to get out, but I did it by pulling out the air intake housing. The resonator is attached to the housing with a strong rubber plug. After undoing the two screws keeping the housing in place, you will have to pull hard to get it free... Once it was exposed, I took it out from the bottom like a v challenging game of Tetris. It did come out eventually though. Frustrating as heck initially, but hope this helps.

    When should we flush our coolant? I dont see it in the manual

    If I owned that vehicle I would do a coolant change every 3 to 5 years or 30 to 60,000 mi depending on the coolant if I was running in severe service conditions very high heat operating conditions idling I would change it at 3 years or sooner

    I mean if it was my car I would change it early just because I'm a maintenance freak and I really like my performance and power but if you're not worried about it there's nothing wrong with changing it at 60,000 mi as long as you're not doing severe service high heat driving 😉😉

    How did you bleed the system?

  • @Syntheticoilprotection

    @Syntheticoilprotection

    Great question Mike On this one there's nothing to bleed All you do is do a drain and fill a couple times until you get most of the old fluid out I like to get at least 90% out and then I put the good stuff in.
