I just found this video, 2015 transit just had torque converter replaced 90,000 mile wisconsin van the dealer had 16 hours alone to remove drill and tap bolts, new a arms and lots of labor, so glad i had extended warranty. Cats were done at 30,000 due to bad 02 sensors so dealer said. Thanks for the great video Im glad i found it to watch, now I know its a lot easier to purchase extended warranty. 🤣

I wrench on my cars at home and the Transit is just huge compared to anything else I've owned. I think I will ask a Pro to do this. I don't have a lift and this job would suck without one. Just the sheer weight and stuff that needs to come off is giving me second thoughts. Great work by the way.

On my friends 350 Transit we put a drain plug on the back side of the upside down pyramid part of the pan. B&M racing, Dorman and other's sell them. We also put on an external inline spin on filter again B&M has one as do others. He drives 100,000 plus miles per year. He uses Amsoil ATF and drains the pan of about 4 quarts every 12000 to 15000 miles also changes the spin on inline filter at that time.

@@jonkolo13 i had 110k before replacing the trans. I Had got off the highway and made a right turn and heard a big clump. The van kept moving and felt like the brakes were dragging. it went into limp mode and i was able to still drive around below 40mph. i drove it around for about a couple weeks until i hear the clunk again. it was grinding and noisy. my buddy mechanic reset the alarms and drove it in 1st and 2nd unit the alarm came back very quick. it wasn't reading the trans speedsensor i believe. but evertime i put it in gear from Park, it would clunk and pop. i did replace the trans myself, including the turbos, and manifolds. used 4-helicoils unfortunately. flushed the cooler. did everything on the ground. took about 3 weeks off and on.

Thanks! Since the magna flow are available again I'm just gonna do that. Got a 2018 with 95k and the cats went out at 60k. Thanks to the rona bought me a little extra time but my inspection is 2 years out now. After watching you drop the cradle again as a refresher I'll just pay more to not have to yet. What sucks is I'm only getting a code on bank 2 and its just barely but my fee work arounds were unsuccessful. I pump transmission fluid every other oil change so I'm not worried about that just yet. If it's a 3.7 it's common for their cats to go out by 80k if you were doing a lot of aggressive driving or towing the. I would suggest changing the trans fluid and filter at 60k I've had several ecoboost blow the rear main seal at 60k or sooner and all of those will require removal of the subframe. Mitchell pretty much tacks on 2 hrs for anything that requires removal of the subframe and that seems to be the same for the dealers. If your rear most subframe bolts are not seized (good luck) then you can have the subframe dropped in an hour no problem but if they are seized you will fight them for an extra hour.

When cold (rich during warmup while driving hard?)”, being that it’s an ambulance … Deja Vu (the Subaru “rear bolt”) on seized bolts in the bushings .. oof. PS. My dealer did a simple tranny drain and fill (at reduced price), at 47k mi, (no pull pan R&R filter), cuz they did not want to pull the K frame .. they told me next time at 100k miles..

The flashlight is from harbor freight, and yes absolutley if you buy a vehicle new the first oil change remove those vertical bolts in the subframe and coat the shank not the threads with a healthy amount of antiseize or grease and the seized bushings should not be an issue for you but remember you need two new bolts to do that to as they are torque to yield

@@medtec6747 Thanks for the reply! Better still, why does the manufacture not do this at the factory? From your experience it is obviously a common issue. If I was running your fleet, I would make this policy and ensure every new vehicle has these bolts replaced and anti seize added to reduce your stress down the years. It would save your company money and reduce the chance of you needing to use a defibrillator from the back of the ambulance. (You were panting pretty good during the vid). A win, win for you both 👍

The other issue seems to be torque converter, the forums are full of the issue, I'm here trying to figure out if its my issue. When my foot is on the pedal in a steady state, the most when giving slight gas in the 60 to 65 range, a heavy low frequency (deep bass) vibration occurs, on and off as the tach needle dances one notch, most often in the 2000 range, give or take. What a strange concept ..a transit with a petrol engine..here in Ireland and indeed all of Europe you can't get a transit with a petrol engine...in fact you can't get any van with one...the transits here have a 2 a 2.2 a 2.4 and I think a 3.2 litre diesel...you would need a second job here to run a van on a petrol engine..there the biggest selling vans in Europe ..there everywhere here we have had them since the 1960s...they use all Peugeot Citroen engines and there some of the best Diesel engines in the world..
