Great vid man. Glad someone found a way to do this. I really don't like when designers try to make it impossible to replace the stereo, knowing the unit they put in is always so restricted.

Thank you bro! I'm trying to add speakers in my 2018 impala but this helped! I took it to a shop and me being picky had to make sure they were right and my speakers are rattling because the screws didnt fit. Now I have to fix my own shit. From now on I'm installing my own shit the right way.

Did you need to pull the full bottom piece with the HVAC controls or will it separate from that full piece with it still bolted in?

I got the same factory radio and was wondering can you just swap that radio with the factory touch screen radio? I can find those factory touch screens on eBay but I’m curious if the wiring harness is the the same.....and if I decide to get the factory back up camera if all that would just plug and play???? Did you put in a factory rear camera or aftermarket??? I have a 17’ impala LT with my link 8” screen some say it’s impossible to add. and I wanted to get the factory camera but don’t know the wiring I need.

Hello I had a question for you So I had my engine swapped out by the dealership along with my gas tank and when I got it back my raido/Chevy my link/stereo was not working it worked before I gave it to them and I've never had a problem with it the weird part is , that my inside lights that light up the front interior of the car and the back so to be specific it's the two lights that are up by the rear view mirror and then the two light in the back right above the back two seats so they also were not working anymore the crazy thing is that every now and then the lights and my radio will turn back on for a little while maybe a day or maybe just until I turn my car off and then when I turn it back on they don't work it's random so sometimes it's just the lights that start working and not the stereo sometimes it's just the stereo and not the lights so I know it's not a fuse problem I'm just trying to figure out what to do the longest the stereo has ever turned back on was for 3 days it was on and then it shut back off same thing black screen and the weird thing is on my steering wheel where my Bluetooth button is that I can press to make the car connect to a phone it tells me that Bluetooth is unavailable which is basically saying that because my radio is messed up I can't use Bluetooth just seeing if you have any ideas or have ever seen this problem before I think it's crazy how this radio will start working and then stop working and it usually starts working after 2 months or maybe just a month once a month it'll start working out of nowhere sometimes it'll be four months before it starts working again it's just random if anybody knows or has seen any of this or has any ideas of what to do please comment below

How do you upgrade this vehicle with a different head unit? I have a 2016 ls I wanted to put in a 8inch and I keep getting told that it can't be done because of no kits available.

what about 2020 impala head unit removal

Curious to know if you were able to upgrade to the IO6 with a 8" touch screen? I just bought a 2017 Impala LS that unfortunately came with the IO4 system. asked the sales man the day after to see if the conversion is available at the dealer but have not heard back from him. my guess is theres no option fro this yet or maybe no one has posted a video of the whole upgrade besides yours with only the removal. I do appreciate the video sir and hope you have one for the final upgrade.

do you have the limited? because one of them does not have a dashkit or harness that fits for some reason. at least thats what my system is telling me. try pac website or metraonline
