Sad is to live in solitude Far from your tranquil altitude Sad is to know that no one ever can live on a dream That never will be, will never be Dreamer awake, wake up and see Your beauty is an aeroplane So high, my heart can't bear the strain A heart that stops when you pass by only to cause me pain Sad is to live in solitude

In my 60 years of musical performance, teaching and listening I have never witnessed any performance from any person that there was a clearer "life" moment for an individual as with Alba Armengou's performance of Triste. The lighting, the intonations, the blends, the gentle and nuanced movement through the song, the truly innocence of expressions by Alba was an encapsulation of a truly life moment for her. That is not to take away from any of the other brilliant musicians, however, this song, this coming together of so many naturally beautiful elements of artistic expression elevated this young women's innocent and unaffected angelic voice and song to the purest of eternal beauty. Alma, you should treasure these most magical few moments as the highest level of the wonderment of human beings. Amazing, simply unforgettable.

The beautiful arrangements of the exquisite vocals, the excellent solos ans the pure JOY that this performance and these young yet very talented young musicians brought to me, I think even mr Gilberto up in heaven will agree that this music is indeed very good hands with our youth. @@timobesamusca9332 Right on Timo... I play this song everyday on my guitar.....one more thing on Joao....he pulls off chords on any song he renders with the same finger pressure yielding a perfect sonority and completeness. Sometimes his voice is so far behind the beat or ahead of it, but at phrase end he's linked back up on the beat. Eliane Elias mentioned this once and was sorta shaking her head like we all do perhaps in wonderment herself. I love her too. Peace, Bro.

Hoi Wouter, these background singers are accomplished artists in their own right. Especially the short haired one, Andrea Motis, she sings and plays trumpet all around the world. The blonde on the left, Rita Payes, is carving out a career as jazz singer and trombone player for her own. We may think it is a bit odd, but in the Americas and the Caribean, poeple play the copper instruments and not so much the guitar as we tend to think. In our country, every boy, girl, genius or idiot plays a guitar. thephilosopherofculture.blogspot.com/

And. although I've watched this a few times I just now realize how much the precision camera work and editing adds to making this piece a masterpiece.

THIS is how "Triste" and bossa nova were meant to sound at their best. Armengou is breathtakingly talented in her ingeniously tenderly evocative nuanced style, as are the other powerfully supporting vocalists, and bossa nova is her calling. The band is world class phenom and the horns were intoxicating in their "spot-on-ness". Bravo! Can't wait to be buying CDs titled the likes of, "Alba Canta Jobim," "Alba Canta Gilberto," "Alba Canta Caymmi," because the world is her oyster. How long must we wait?

Donald Boudreau, "very" well said. You're a wordsmith. I like it. When you speak of her, "evocative nuanced style," I absolutely love what she does starting @ 5:19 when she reaches down to hit those low notes. She is a jewel on many levels. To my dismay, Bossa Nova didn't last that long in the U.S., but it's alive and well!!

Joan Chamorro is a genius and was obviously blessed with the ability to turn these kids into new stars of the Jazz world. These current and past members of Joan's program are simply amazing. Congratulations Joan, your program is unique in the world. I been in the Jazz world for more than 50 years as a drummer and a fan. I have seen some of the greatest talents in the business and these "kids" could take the stage with any of them. The ongoing success of his students like Eva Fernandez and Andrea Motis are testaments to their commitment and Joan's ability to inspire and empower kids as young as 6 years old into the world of Jazz and to reveal their inner talents. He not only teaches these children how to express themselves through their instruments but he guides them to respect themselves and others and leads them into young adults with passion for their music and their future. It is simply magical and leaves me without words. Another amazing, outstanding performance. Bravo Joan Chamorro and your students.

@@rogercorby5497 Hey Roger, Alba was born in 2002, have you ever seen a 14 (or perhaps a 15) year-old sing at such a high professional level? I still can't get over just how talented these kids are. And not just the vocalists, but the entire ensemble. They're adults now, of course, and still blowing everyone away. So, if you liked this, check out Andrea's cover of Bli-Blip @ kzread.info/dash/bejne/m3uYuMmflL2xnag.html - I was listening to the SAJB for two or three years before this popped up on my feed, as it didn't get many views. Watching this three time in a row, I thought, okay Andrea has studied Ella, she's attempting to channel Ella and technically she's doing fine, but Ella must boom this out - comparatively speaking. Finding a copy of Ella's cover of this stunned me, it was almost exactly the same! Cheers :)

@@rickemmet1104 -- I find myself worrying about Alba, Rita, Eliia, and the Motis sisters making it through the pressures of young womanhood so they can share this beautiful talent with the world. This may be controversial, but i think Albas voice is actually better for club-type jazz than Ella Fitz. But in terms of tone quality, not Ellas ability to sing scat. I havent heard Alba sing scat, yet. I really hope they get a gig in New Orlenas eventually. Maybe for Jazz Fest next year---

@@rogercorby5497 Yes, it will be great if they can continue to produce such fine music. Alba is my favorite vocalist of the group, though the rest are extremely impressive. One of my older brothers was in the Jazz Ensemble in high school and wanted to become a professional vocalist. I keep sending him links to these videos; I think he's growing tired of my enthusiasm for these folks. Alba has such a unique voice, it's unlike any other voice I know. I sent my brother a link to "Farol Da Barra" and mentioned that when Alba sings in her lower register, her voice sounds like dark chocolate. I never even thought of such a thing for any other vocalist. Hope they get to NO, I'd like to see them in such historical environs!

@@rickemmet1104 Just for the record, New Orleans has a lot more going on, musically, than what people realize. The historical environs dont play that much traditional (e.g., Dixieland) jazz anymore (always some, but mostly in turista joints) . But NOLA is also famous for New Orleans R&B, Bounce, Fats Domino, and a big scene of Progressive Jazz. Working a 9 to 5 regular corporate job and catching big names like John Lee Hooker or Bonnie Raitt when they blow through town to do a brief gig is not easy, unless you bring a bed into your office to catch up on sleep a little bit at lunchtime. I always wished the lifestyle was more like Barcelona!

What is special about the young musicians? It is the naturalness and the joy of the music that they radiate. And something else very important: they are themselves and not copies of anyone. And when they present something, it is as it is and not a repetition of what has already been heard. Bravo - that is something special that you should keep for as long as possible. There are already enough copies. Thank you for being who you are.

Forti e decisi gli assoli di Luigi e di Enrique; delicato ma non per questo meno efficace quello di Jan come pure l'introduzione di Carla.
