Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

MotoMan drives the 2016 Lexus GS F - the only car like it to avoid forced induction - turbo- or super- chargers thanks to Lexus Chief Engineer, Yokihiko Yaguchi. As he demonstrates the engineering & driving dynamics, Yaguchi-san’s latest Lexus F model presents a unique question cars like the Cadillac CTS-V and BMW M5 don’t . . .

I think Lexus knocked it out of the park with this car. It is, to my eyes, the most successful execution of the Lexus design language, especially the tail lights, stacked exhausts, and square stance of the rear end. At the end of the day, reliability, looks, and sound, are what you really want from a car, especially something this big and with such potential to be daily driven. I would've never said this before, but I think I'd have this Lexus over any other full size premium sport sedan in the market right now. That exhaust sound!

This car is incredible. Its embodies new technology with great handling with a high tech and high strung NA V8 engine. The sounds is beautiful just like the LFA was. Lexus has become extremely passionate about performance... if they stay on this path of relentless pursuit of performance great cars will come. For a brand to only be 25 years old thats makes cars like this and LFA ? Hats off to Lexus keep up the good work. Lexus is the performance Japanese brand of Japan. Jermery Clarkson had this GSF for a week and said the GSF has the M3 and M5 both beat. Hats off to Lexus for building a drivers car and not a car about numbers.

You know me M, I love V8s … especially Naturally Aspirated ones. maybe even more than the next guy … but I can't justify 86k for the Lexus. As for forced induction, zee gentlemen from Affatlerbach proved that you can have a boosted V8 & still make sound like an angry god of thunder … all dat noise! If I really really want an NA V8 sedan, I'd just get a Chrysler 300 SRT (485hp, 470ft-pd), granted it won't be as luxurious (especially in regards to fit & finish) as the GS F… but you know how I feel about Lexus. My choice will definitely be the CTS V , followed by the bit more expensive M5 (tough at this point might as well wait for the next gen Ms & AMGs) … or maybe even a regular 650i Gran coupé As always, excellent work M!

Those tear tail lights are spectacular. Yes the Audi, bmw and Merc are better performance wise but the overall usability, driverbility, and reliability are things that Lexus has protected. Naturally aspirated engines have gone the way of the manual transmission #extent. In 10 these cars will still be on the road looking and sounding great while the Germans will either be in the scrap yard or dealership. Thus, there is where the difference between the Lexus and everyone else

  • @NikoBell12
    @NikoBell128 жыл бұрын

I would go with the GSF over the E550, 550xi, CTS V-Sport and S6. Why? Well one, as you said, it's naturally aspirated and old school. But two, those other cars aren't really that great. The E63, M5, CTS-V and RS7 will leave this car in the dust but those aren't the F's real competitors. Its real competitors are just kind of mundane and actually kind of too common. If I had to be completely honest, I was already sold on the GSF because I thought the GS was perfect but need a bit more power and here it is now with more power. But the fact that it's normally aspirated, sounds like that and drives the way it does only makes me like it more over it's rivals. The E550 or S6 may have all of the gadgets and this and that and be just as fast but they'll never be as stylish, unique or fun. What Lexus needs to do is maybe lower the price on the GSF a bit and go Jaguar, do a GSF-R or something lol. Something that can actually compete with the M5 or CTS-V.

Not a fan of the Germans(cars, the people are fine) and as much as I like the CTS' power and performance, the looks leave a lot to be desired for me. It looks the older car has been doing roids and it just ate a couple MX-5s as an afternoon snack! I would probable take the GS F (in Nebula Grey)- its different and it feels more special than V, M, or S at the moment.

The electronically controlled torque vectoring differential (TVD) is the best thing about this car, to be realistic, its engine is an updated version of the last gen IS F, so, instead of a new IS F model, we get the GS F, remember Lexus used to have the GS 460 (V8 with less power), but the biggest problem with this car is its price, seriously for that kind of money the CTS Vseries hands down, if you want the Lexus by all means buy it, just never try the new gen CTS Vseries at the light or anywhere

The exhaust sound this car makes is great, but how often do you drive around town listening to your car exhaust? When you purchase a car you want: good looks, check GSF; reliability, check GSF; bragging rights power, no check for GSF; value for $$$, no check for GSF. Ultimately, Lexus will need to advance their outlook on technology and join the competition with forced induction. When Lexus makes the jump to forced induction, this car will be a clear winner! I'll keep my GS450h until.

The dash is real nice... Going back and thinking supra, buying a Japanese car I would expect to be getting the twin turbo engines. If I could choose between this and another V8 sedan, I would get the Chevy SS. Half the price with a corvette engine but if I had to choose between Japanese sedans. I would have to wait and see what Infinity will come out to compare to this. $86k is too much for a car that is not faster than anything at that price point.

Performance aside I just test drove a new GS sport and felt the interior to be a soar spot. It used to be that Lexus was a clear cut above Toyota. While thats clear on the exterior and interior design the materials fall short inside. Hard plastic where it should be soft and the soft touch that was there was reminiscent of a Toyota. Step it up buddy boy your lagging and personally I think the new styling is way to over the top that will not age well. But thats me...

+villager58: Exactly Villager58. Japan only started on the road to Industrialisation in C1850/60. Prior to that, they were swinging Samurai Swords, and throwing Ninja stars. Toyota only became seriously interested in the Luxury Car business, in the early 1990's with the original LS400. Now Lexus is quiet possibly the most Reliable and Meticulously crafted Mass Produced car on sale today by anyone. The GS F is a huge step forward for Lexus, it is only their 4th real attempt at Sports Car construction. I really hope they offer a LS F with their next generation LS sedan. As for me, I'd buy one in a heart beat. Lastly, I love their LC 500 coupe, I can see myself buying a GS F if an LS F is a no flyer. Lexus is on the Prowl Now! All other Automotive Giants (Mercedes, BMW, Audi...Etc) had better put their respective boxing gloves on, as King Kong Lexus is about to beat the daylights out of them.

In my own personal opinion (*public service announcement... This is what I believe and is neither true or false amongst the masses' beliefs [just for those who disagree and aren't open to other views]*) I just couldn't see purchasing a sedan developed by Lexus leaning toward a performance base rather than luxury with these kind of figures accompanying the price tag. I absolutely see the point of the "old school feel" of a NA vehicle with a deep and throaty sound amongst a world of performance vehicles over run by forced induction and electrical drive assistance, but again leads to my biggest negative... $84,000 for a sub par APPR 500 horsepower car with less than 400 ft pounds of torque. I absolutely think it is great to want to develop an NA performance vehicle for nostalgia, but I don't see this being built for years to come. For that kind of money there are far better vehicles produced in these days OR one could build a vehicle that performs far in excess, even NA, for less money.

Lexus or Toyota could have done better and gave the car more power to be more competitive within its segment. At around $90k the car IMO, is a bit overpriced. I saw one up close and the build quality and materials are great. No, I don't agree the changes justify the price tag. It's still down on power and handling, build quality, and their reputation for reliability alone won't help them sell as many GSF. I was a Lexus dealership two months ago and one of the finance managers told me they are having a hard time selling the GSF. The RCF on the other hand is selling well. I currently own a 13 Boss 302, a 08 ISF, and a 15 GTI with a APR stage 1 tune. I just think that Toyota could've done so much better but just giving the GSF the motor from the RCF was a cheap and easy way out. The GSF deserves a different motor on its own.

Jamal Productions bmw is not reliable. All kinds of shit goes wrong after the warranty is out. Trust me, i had an M5 and ive been to the dealerships so many damn times. Now, i am driving a Cadillac v sport for half the price of my M5 and GS-f.:)

This car doesn't sound as good or rev as high as some of other na or even turbo v8 engines. And it's still too heavy and has an automatic transmission.

to me, this car is not worth it price. For the same price you can get a CTS-V with 640hp, a BMW 550XI and you get awesome handling, Audi S6 with it cool interior looking design and the infamous All wheel quattro, Mercedes E class with awesome refinement. Looks is very subjective but I honestly think all those other listed car looks way better than GS-F, the spindle grill and nike day time running light are attrocious, the center console/arm rest are clutters with shits. Where does GS-F hope to beat these rivals? they need to go back to their drawing boards, none of the recent cars they built have come close to their competitor, the only thing they can probably claim is reliability, even that is debatable.

+trilingualkid Yeah okay, well I'd take the GSF over a boring S6 or 550Xi or E550 any day of the week. Period. Too overpriced? Wait a year and buy it used. It'll cost a lot less but be like new. You gotta be an idiot or making bank to buy a car like this new anyway.

NikoBell12 Boring? thats subjective, who in their right mind would ever call BMW boring, their is a reason why enthusiast love BMW. S6 and E550 have their own perfection, like the Quattro AWD, which is probaly top of the line if not damn near. The E550 is just a mix of luxury and brute force. I can make the argument of buying all these cars used to save money, but when it come down to it, you get more from the other companies. Lexus has been on the down slope for years, looks like it wont stop now until they get a new designer.

The Hyundai Genesis is a quite similar car in terms of size & engine and it's a lot cheaper at only being 55k

+villager58 just because it's cheaper doesn't mean it's doesn't compete lol I was talking about the 5.0 which have a V-8 and has 420 horsepower and 383 pound feet and that both our around the same size and weight I get that yea the lexis is a better handler but is it worth 30k more for two cars that are very similar

Needs forced induction as it's still 100+ horsepower down on it's rivals. Also, the fact that it's naturally aspirated doesn't lend it some kind of charm or anything over the likes of the M5, it just makes the GS-F sound and feel anemic by comparison as it revs to the moon while getting left in the dust. Naturally aspirated engines are going the way of the dinosaur for a reason; lame torque output, poor efficiency and high-strung nature.

So you're planning on racing your 4000 pound 4 door sedan and setting a lap record somewhere? The M5 is 0.1 seconds faster in it's 0-60 time and weighs 400lbs more making it much harder to get it around a corner. The old ISF which was also down on power was better than putting it's power down than the old M5. All depends on what you're trying to do. Lexus is just giving you a more exciting option. There's no point getting into the upper 500's other than saying you have that power. I see the appeal, don't get me wrong, but there's a reason why this is more sedate.

vidurc Numbers and lap times aren't everything of course but since this is a heavy road car, thrust and efficiency matter more than getting maximum power out of high crank velocity. Why should a car in this class need to rev to almost 5000 RPM to make only modest torque when turbocharging can improve its performance and drivability?

XenoformII Because all you can do with these machines is have something that's fun to drive. High revving V8 that's fun to drive. This is one of the last NA high revving V8's in a luxury sedan you can buy. If someone wants a turbo they can go German, if they want an NA motor they can go Japanese. Sounds like a win win.
