2017 Cadillac CTS-V vs. 2016 Lexus GS F - Redline: Comparison

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Germany may be the more well known players in the super sport sedan class, but America and Japan each want some German blood. The latest CTS-V now sporting a 640 horsepower supercharged monster and a track ready suspension straight off the showroom floor. Lexus brings its first ever GS F sedan with a screaming 5.0L naturally aspirated V8 and least amount of weight in the segment. Watch our full comparison test and see which one we think is the best choice to bring the fight to Europe.

    i love them both, but the CTS-V simply out classes with more performance, a more luxurious interior, more features, and a slightly more cohesive design, of course anyone who chooses a GSF wont be disappointed with a stellar N/A V8, best in class reliability, and an over all very unique choice in this segment. love them both.

    Lets take this moment to acknowledge that Lexus is the ONLY Japanese luxury auto maker to take on the high performance brands and actually make their own high performance division of cars. Good job Lexus. This is also the first generation GSF. I believe that CTS-V is the third generation model. So the Lexus F brand is a upcoming player that started in 2008, not better then the established stars but damn good for a starter up and its that new player you should not sleep on. That being said I love the fact the Caddy has almost 700hp but I have a feeling your gonna see more CTS-V crashed then the GSF. Because of its more usable power the GSF is the more of a drivers car. You cant open up CTS-V like you can the GSF. Love both of these cars tho. I do like the interior of the Lexus more over the caddi interior. The Lexus does give you a better value when it comes to options. Theres almost nothing optional on Lexus F cars. Lexus will no doubt be dependable and fun at the same time your not giving up dependability to go fast. I like the front end of the CTS-V but beside the front end I think the GSF looks better in every other way. Both cars are awesome give me anyone ! My best thing about the both of them? THEY ARENT GERMAN.

    Glad to hear you can equally appreciate the Cadillac for what it is, the Lexus gave it a hell of a fight though and we weren't kidding when we said we liked many aspects of the GS F over the CTS-V. You honestly can't go wrong with either car, each of them will speak to a certain driver in their own way. The GS F certainly gets us excited for the next generation model, hopefully Lexus will deliver the power in the form of a boosted V8 engine in the upcoming LC F. Cheers to both of these not being German :)

  • @Toyota4Life

    @Toyota4Life

    Torian Richardson Your missing the point. Lexus didn't make the GSF to be the most powerful and fastest car in its class. Lexus wanted to make a powerful car thats also a drivers car and they accomplished that mission 100%. They are not trying to be the best they just want to offer their take on what a high performance sedan can be. The GSF engine is still awesome the last of its kind. Its still a special car and people who dont only care about numbers will see that.

  • @that6thgen_2ss35

    @that6thgen_2ss35

    Toyota4Life I don't think I am missing the point at all. You just contradicted yourself and you don't even realize it. You said Lexus wasn't trying to be the fastest or most powerful car in the class or even the best. That is exactly my point, what is its appeal. You call it a "drivers" car but the CTS-V outpaces it in ever single aspect including handling, power, acceleration, and driver engagement. The BMW is a MUCH better drivers car even still and the AMG is faster with a way nicer interior. In what tangible way could you sell this car to someone in the market for a performance luxury car in this class who isn't already set on buying a Lexus? Serious question, I would like to hear your sales pitch based on tangible information not just your opinion.

I own a white on red 2016 Lexus GS 350 F-Sport that I bought used two years ago with 41k miles for $31k after taxes (original MSRP $58k) now with 62k miles & I love it so much that I'll probably keep it forever. It's been super reliable so far as expected & has a fantastic ride & handling balance. I would've really considered the Cadillac if it had the same long term reliability as a Lexus. It's styling still looks amazing here in 2022 & easily one of the best looking sedans ever IMO & even better looking inside & out than the current CT5.

    Great video, Sofyan! You did a great job comparing both vehicles! The Cadillac seems a little more difficult to enjoy as a daily driver as oppose to the Lexus, in my opinion, due to the lower and louder nature of the vehicle. The Cadillac CTS-V's exterior styling personally looks more aggressive and bold as oppose to the GS-F. When it comes to the interior's I like the bright and what seems to be more easy to use environment of the Lexus, but the overall more techy and different look of the interior of the Cadillac. I do have to admit though, the Cadillacs interior seems to have to many motorized and technology based parts, which in the long run can end up costing a lot more in repairs. Both cars also sound amazing, but the Cadillac just sounds a ton better at a stand still. While, when you where driving I actually found myself preferring the acoustics of the Lexus' very crisp sounding shifts and if you will more constant and linear sound! All in all, you cannot go wrong with either of these vehicles, but personally I would have to pick the Cadillac for a weekend fun car and the Lexus for more of an everyday car. I can totally tell you love what you do for a living. From one good car reviewer (me) to one great car reviewer (you), keep up the amazing work! -DriveAndBeDriven "The Quest To Record The Best!"

    I love both of them but for some reason the Lexus keeps giving me chills because of that V8. Sounds sooo beautiful! The Cadillac does sound good no doubt but that V8 in that Lexus, I really don't know why. I can literally forget about the power (maybe) because of that sound. Not only that but like what he said, it's easier to rev it up than the Cadillac sadly. If the Cadillac was easier to control while you're trying to rev it up then it would be harder for me to choose.

You also have to consider, the GS F competes more with the 550i, e550, S6 and CTS V Sport in terms of performance. Quite a niche product but it's a smart move by Lexus. Save a nice 15k in the process.

    Very informative review. I have owned Cadillac's and Lexus, both manufacturers make a solid automobile. In my opinion the CTS V is more of a drivers purist car. I would like to see your review of the new Porsche Panamera turbo compared to the CTS V. Porsche has made some bold claims on how much better the newer generation Panamera is over the previous Generation which I currently own.

    Exactly my thoughts. The GS-F is horribly overpriced when it is much fairer to compare it to the Mercedes E550 and BMW 550i which are in the $60K range. Lexus really should've just called it the GS500 and given an F badge to a more worthy one. Same with RC-F. But I will say is one huge advantage the GS-F does have over the 550i and E550 is the handling and suspension especially since the GS-F does have torque vectoring differential. The 550i and E550 do not get the AMG/M treatment and the GS-F is definitely better than those. It's a tweener. It's too good to compete with the 550i and E550 but too slow to compete with the M5/E63/CTS-V

  • @d1sturb3d119

    @d1sturb3d119

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@usernamealreadytaken770 The E550 makes 429hp so under that of the Lex and the BMW seems like good value until you add features. The Lex offers an option that is a gap in the Merc line up while BMW seems to do a good job giving a ton of options. You are right about it being slower than the competition in objective tests that the reviewers do but in the real world it all events out. If you're out anywhere other than a track, pretty much anything in the F line up will put its power down better and actually have useable performance. Having gone up against these cars, even in a track setting, maintaining consistency is not something that can be done with those cars. They make so much power that they shred their tires in no time. Most people will not continue to beat on the cars for consecutive laps. Overall it comes down to the driver. Personally I would just enjoy the experience and daily drive-ability. But that's just me.

I drove the car on the A9 from Berlin to Leipzig and the road was nearly empty. The display shows me 328 km/h (204 M/h). The handling of the car was brilliant, nearly perfect. But there are two sides of the medal. Fuel consumption........ In Germany cost "Super Plus" 1,50 Euro/Liter (7 US-Dollar / Gallon) Any Questions?? :-))))
