2016 Harley Davidson V Rod Muscle Motorcycle Review

Ойын-сауық

This is Harley Davidsons high performance model, merging aspects of a sportbike with a beefy cruiser. With smooth refined manners, it's not for the typical Harley customer but does have it's place.

I bought a 2010 V-ROD Muscle last year mainly because just looking at it gave me cold chills. With Vance & Hines pipes and S.E. tuner this bike delivers all the power I want. I LOVE this bike! Absolutely addicting! One word sums up this bike for me; PERFECTION!

This bike doesn't even wake up until your above 5,000 rpm. From 6,000-9,000 you better be holding on tight...

Love your vids but you got this one wrong as far as the engine goes. You were rolling on throttle way below the power band. Peak HP is above 8k on these, and if you put the hammer down in the right gear they pull like a monster. Not literbike or vmax hard obviously, but the bike moves.

I have a 09 nightrod with Vance and Hines widow slip ons, fuel pack and high flow air filter. I get great compliments on how it sounds, as for comfort I find it excellent since I put on a handlebar riser so the clamshell position is more relaxed. I regularly ride down from Alberta to Montana..6 hours...and have no problems at all. Of all my 7 bikes I’ve owned my Vrod is far and away the favourite

I'm glad I got a chance to watch your review. I'm in the market for my first cruiser and wanted to ride from NY to Los Angeles. I looked at another vid on the V-Rod and its similar to yours. It's not meant for long distance.

You really see the Porsche influence in the development if the VRod. After all they helped design the engine. You can see Porsche's influence in the gauge cluster as well.

This bike has nice hints of coffee, espresso, some caramel and a little earth. -Smooth finish on the exhale, not hard on the throat- Smooth finish on the roll-off, not hard on the wrists. Has a nice thick body to it as well. Premium price though! Find it at your local B&M! This is part of my 2017 bike sampler.

The thing I love about this bike is that you cannot see the "dashboard" so you feel like you are flying over the ground on a seriously fast and comfortable... wind. My favorite Harley; next to my Road King.

just picked up up an 09 muscle after watching all the reviews, it's geared for high end torque and loves to rev up, cruising at 5 or 6k rmp all day long and you'd better hang on if you twist the throttle even from 80mph. had it up to 110 for a few seconds and it wanted to keep going still pulling hard.

Excellent overall assessment-review of Harley's sport bike cruiser-type motorcycle which is no doubt dedicated to very specific riders. Rode same bike and share your observations / comments - did not particularly like to ride same at low speed in city traffic and found riding position difficult after long ride!

Is this bike nice and smooth (doesn't work hard) when around 75 mph 80 mph? Or at that speed is it working hard to maintain speed? Put differently, can it cruise smoothly at those speeds?

Bought a new '16 Muscle back in June. I absolutely LOVE the bike. Rock solid, head turner, faster than necessary! V Rod is the best bike ever made by H-D in my opinion. So needless to say I'm devastated that H-D is discontinuing V-Rod after next month (Oct. 2016). I know in a few years or so when I want a new and/or improved one, they won't be there :(.

They have some 'douchebag commandant' out there to make sure you know they are doing you a big favor by letting you ride they're test/tax write off bikes. End the ride by telling the dealer you loved the bike but the creep/hero they hired to escort the minions pissed you off….so gonna go ride something else. Grrrr! ..k feel better now! :)

I met a guy on a Vrod at a light... he kept revving loudly and doing little lurches... basically gesturing he wanted to drag race. I turned my FZ-09 to A mode. light turns green and we both go. At first he pulls ahead a little, like half a bike distance. I was holding back my throttle a little because the front came off the ground. He goes to second, my wheel comes back from the heavens and a beat later I go to second. I open second harder, but not all of it as I may still wheelie if I do, and I not only reel the vrod, but blast past him. He's still WOT, I can hear him as I blow past him. A beat later I hear him shift to third... I'm still riding the surge on second. Bam! I shift to third I now open it wide, a bump on the road knocks be back on the seat, I hold myself with the handlebars... I feel a wobble but quickly disappears. Once I clamped my legs around the tank I check the mirrors and he's nothing but a spec in my mirror. I shift to fourth, check my speedo and I'm doing 113mph and then let out. I drop back to Highway speeds so I can hear my music over the wind noise and drop the mode back to Standard and go on my merry way. A few miles later, he rides past me and flips me off... He then rides off and aggressively splits through traffic... he then slows down and I believe waits for me... as if inviting me into another race... I smile inside my helmet and think "Dude, it's not my fault you bought a slow bike..."

Great review! I just picked up a 2016 Vrod Muscle. My only complaint is the clutch pull while sitting in stop and go traffic will fatigue your hand. (I live in NYC) The bike sounds like a sewing machine. It definitely needs an exhaust upgrade. Overall it does everything it was advertised to do. First 60 miles had me smiling from ear to ear.

I bought a new VROD in '07 and put 58K mi on it before I traded for the FJR --- totally different animals. The VROD was designed by Porche and is (or was) manufactured in Missouri at the robotic factory. Many Harley folks don't consider this a real Harley --- yet as Harley's official drag bike --- it sure is a looker and I enjoyed every mile I put on mine.

Hit the acceleration at 55 in third gear and then you'll feel the acceleration. In top gear at 55 you're not going to feel any sort of hard acceleration. This bike is not a typical harley and it feels at home between 4 and 5k rpm, not 3k.

They did not let me ride it. Get this my Brother had a card from HD> to ride the new yr model. Didnt happen the seller rolled one outside then he did a nice burnout. My Brother and me both have been riding Harleys for over forty yrs. So fuck em I waited till a guy had one up for sale and I bought it. To Bad HD. By the way Love my V ROD!!

The gauges should have a little black nipple button. Clicks that clock through the trip, odo, fuel remaining, clock...also if held while key switched on gets diag/obd codes. They've changed the package but it's identical to my 2006 there. The revolution makes shit for power up until 5000RPM. Then it comes on hard up to wherever the adaptive red line is. (Nominal red line is like 8500 ...unless they bumped it up but cold oil OR overly fast revving will get it to kick in as early as 7500-8000 on mine)

motardmani, agree with your question. I have a 14 night rod and an 09 cbr1000rr Dyno at 172whp. There is NO comparison on “fast” between these two bikes. The cbr would take the v-rod every day, every gear, every step of the way. No wheelies required. When I want to “get on” the v-rod, I hit the rev limiter in every gear. I have NEVER hit the rev limit on my cbr and it scares me to hit the top end. I would not use FAST to describe the v-rod. it’s a performance cruiser. Are your average Harley’s slow? I’ve never ridden a traditional V-twin? Perhaps that’s the comparison they are using.

They are talking about in a fashing for hogs not liters. I own zx10r and common sense yells at you yes it is way faster. But I own a vrod and it's fast for the nature and breed of the bike it is. You comparing two different platforms with two different engineered mechanics. Its like you are comparing commerical jet to a fighter jet. It's no comparison in what they were designed for.

No one buys a V-Rod to race against a liter bike. I came from a ZX6-R and was about to trade up for a ZX-10R but I got the Muscle and have been riding it the last 3 years. I like this bike because I can cruise the city low profile and break the rear when I hit the throttle without the front jumping. I live in the hood so a Super Sport is limited unless you do track days. Now in your mind, you are riding a cruiser but it trips you out when you roll the throttle over 5000rpms because it will snap your neck and it red-lines up to 10,000. Plus, what other bike can you ride with multiple personas? I can wear a full face helmet with Joe Rocket jacket or chill in a T smoking a cigarillo while sporting a skid-lid. Living the Life!

  • @Godsblessings1111
    @Godsblessings11115 жыл бұрын

You can't throttle up in a cruise mode and expect the powerband to kick in. You must down shift one to two gears and than open the throttle to red line, which is 9500 rpm's! Then you will feel the how badass it truly is! Also I run Samson long shots for my exhaust and I guarantee you, you will not beable to ride near me while I'm opening up the throttle without me spitting your skull in half! Way to loud! No one wants to ride behind me! Way to loud! Its what I've been told many of times! Peace

like me me if you put the foot pegs where the sporty 48 foot pegs are on the V Rod then that'll help with the legs instead of them being so stretched out forward with your arms is like doing yoga on a nice Harley nobody wants to do yoga on a Harley! yeah I understand that you want the sport feeling with the little bit of a tuck but if you have a your back bend forward more you don't want your legs straight out all the time it's like you're stretching out all the time, common sense tells you that guys! I wish to God that I can get a job at Harley Davidson as I have a want to do is work on motorcycles for my life's work and always wanted to own and ride my Harley and I can't even afford one but I can sit here and talk about what is the battery could be better might be better but maybe I'm wrong, I'm no little kid I'm 36 years old, I move tomorrow if somebody gave me a job fixing Harley Davidson or being a part of a Harley Davidson team!

it's ugly and Harley Davidson should be ashamed the 100th anniversary vrod was the all-around perfect motorcycle because harley- Davison's hundredth anniversary vrod was that answer, and it certainly was the best answer I think! personally the wheels has a good change and a full exhaust obviously, the only thing that I don't like personally was how far up the pegs were, other than that it is the best bike I have a road! the best in my life , the power was unbelievable I can't begin to tell you firstgear finding out, and switching gears in a second on a full throttle Gabrielle tire light it up like I wasn't even on the bike, now thats harley-davidson power I don't know where harley-davidson power went from there but I want by Annie D new fucking bikes because I don't know where are Harley Davidsons balls went?!?!? no you call this the V Rod muscle where the fuck is the muscle at? where the fuck is the muscle in it? and granted the hundredth anniversary real vrod granted it was 2003 but it didn't need to say muscle because the 100th anniversary vrod was a hundred percent muscle! where the hell didn't Harley Davidsons balls go from there?

I have a 2013 Vrod / Nightrod and I love it. My other bike is a Honda CB1000r, so I'm not your typical (trump voting) idiotic HD rider. The Vrod is a tight bike, does not vibrate like most old tech HD engines.

Seems like Harley isn't the best company for test riding. You have to let folks ride the bike. It's not a parade.

+kelly j Exactly. Unfortunately the customer base is the parade type. It's what they expect and are used to with the rides. Day and night from performance based manufacturers or sure.

I think we need to break this down a little simpler, these guys exist with every manufacturer. You just got to be unlucky to hit them. Had the same experience with a guy with Yamaha. Sometimes these guys just take it a little to seriously and are themselves a little to aggressive After a short conversation afterward with that guy I felt similar to you. Love your reviews and follow you.

Don't understand why they stopped making these HARLEY's there one of the safest HARLEY's on the road, they have 2 brake discs on the front wheel like they should have and have the clocks and guages mounted on the bars like they should all have
