I just had to do this on my 2018 Focus ST three weeks ago. It was a little harder to do and a longer part. I felt like removing my intake to get more space was the best instant thinking I've had in a good while. Had the old one off in 3 minutes and the new one on with intake reinstalled in another 3 min. That would be the only thing I'd recommend to you and the viewers. Great vid!

Problem with most newer cars they are getting over engineered more with each new year model.

It's a hell of a lot easier than this video makes it look. Just remove the rubber intake elbow on the throttle body to the filter box. You'll have plenty of room to get to the end of the hose.

I have the same problem I fill it up until the nozzle clicks meaning it’s full then I start it up then it just violently vibrates and shakes and hesitant to start up then it shuts off unless I press down on the gas to give it power and it works fine

I had the same problem with my 2015 Ford Transit 250 a few years ago, and it had come to a point when I had to leave the engine running while pumping gas in order to avoid hard starts! I bought my purge valve from Amazon, it was easy to install, and an easy fix! It has outlasted the original one which started to cause problem at around 150 000 miles -- I don't exactly remember -- my van has more than 547 000 miles on it now, and I haven't had any hard start problems after filling up ever since!

I just had this fixed on my 2015 focus however I was sent a letter from ford and they did the work and covered all costs . Look to see if you have a recall on your vehicle prior to fixing yourself !

Mine just started doing that, check engine light on and I believe the code for it came up too, I did some digging and the code points to that as suspect. I’ll try that, unplug battery to reset everything snd see if it comes back on

There's a recall on this and I took my 2012 focus in to get it fixed at the dealer. They said bc the fuel tank hadn't deformed yet that they there was nothing to fix. So they charged me a fee to inspect and fixed absolutely nothing. I argued and argued that the fuel tank is a result of the problem, not the problem and just bc it hadn't messed up yet, it is already showing all the symptoms of the recall. The rough idle, the rough start and/ or dying after refueling. They didn't fix anything.

That part is garbage. I just installed my second one yesterday at 137,000 miles (first one around 70,000 miles) on my 2012 Ford Focus Titanium 2.0L!! From my research, the one I installed today seems to be the third update (newest) version, part #BV6Z-9D289-R. And yes, both times I used genuine Ford parts from a dealership. Ten minutes to install, but still a PITA to have to deal with the hard starts before the part arrives and hoping the gas tanks does not deform (part of the recall stemming from this issue). @@VasylGladun Indeed! From the very first oil change, I have only used full syn oil, changed out at 5000 mile intervals sometimes at 6000. I took off the valve cover earlier this week to seal up a pesky oil leak with a new gasket set & a few dabs of rtv. I could not believe how clean it was with no visible signs of sludge build-up or any of the golden/yellow varnish build-up typically seen in a lot of higher mileage cars.

hi friend I would like to ask you for advice I have a Ford c max 1.8 petrol 2003 duratec engine the defect I feel and when I fill up the tank hangs the petrol nozzle keeps detaching and then if I accelerate the car seems empty as if there was a cap to the muffler or a lack of air or petrol this ford c max has the Cannister filter Activated carbon could this be the problem? thanks for your help

Only recall for 2017 ford fusion se 1.5 L , is a steering wheel bolt replacement. Yet I'm having the same issues . Ford needs to recognize this is an issue in majority of Fords models.

It's a recall people. Look up ford focus recalls and it's the latest one. Posted in 2019? And it's mandatory for Ford to replace.

Retrace your steps, check if all of the connectors are fully plugged in. Also you might check pins inside plugs if any of them are bent

Did that engine Light Came Up because Of that problem if so did it go away ? If not what kind Of Problem that was in you're car If you ever Got to Find Out?

As you can see on this video, I did not use code reader so in this case it was a guessing game. When you fix the problem you have two options. First one to clear the code with the code reader, the second one is wait, because PCM doesn't reset itself automatically right after repair it takes a little time, some people say after 25 to 50 starts of the vehicle. In my case, check engine light went away after a couple weeks.

I have this problem....curious if this is why my car also tries to shut off while driving....when I'm not pressing the gas the rpms drop too low and it shuts off

Before you do it yourself check with Ford, maybe it's a recall item and they can take care of it for you for free.

I'm having this problem with 2016 Fusion. Has same engine as Focus. Also, the gas inlet "farts"

I sold this car few months ago so I can't tell you how long this repair will last, but it took care of this problem to the day I sold it at least. I would recommend before replying it yourself check if Ford doesn't have recall for this issue, because they do for some models with this problem.

I don't remember, but you don't really need it. Name of the part is "evaporator purge valve", you need to know make, model, year and engine size of your vehicle to get the correct one.
