    Did a complete coolant flush on my 2017 Police Interceptor Explorer. 3.7 with 112,000 miles. Followed your instructions precisely, and after 7 or 8 cycles ( about 2.5 hours), with distilled water and Yellow concentrate coolant all was a great success. Thank you for the clarity and precise instructions. Not to mention saved $380 the dealer had quoted me for the flush AND the dealer uses tap water!

    Good video. Thanks for taking the time to record and upload. This is a very important thing to do for those Ford engines that run water pump with the timing chain. Ford updated antifreeze to prevent rubber seal on water pump from failing.. The old orange antifreeze if not changed periodically destroy that water pump seal..

    Really great video! Well detailed and straight to the point. Hey man, I have a 2018 Explorer limited, and I wanted to do my coolant change, but I did a recent job on another ford and I used the new yellow coolant, but I have the prediluted 50/50 version...how would you do the process because I'm scared the water ratio will be over the coolant ratio

  • @drifter-indian1448

    @drifter-indian1448

    Жыл бұрын

    Don't be scared, just do the drain and after you are done with the last and final drain, you fill the reservoir with concentrate. It will take 4Qrt, then drive around and check the level again, add more concentrate as I am sure the level will go down after a few hours of drive. The total capacity is abt 12 Qrt. if you are in USA stop by the Autozon or Walmart, they sell a tester literally for $3 bucks. Test the mix with the tester to be sure. But do check the level over the next couple days following the flush, it dropped a lot for me and I was happy to see more room for remaining coolant concentrate. Yellow stuff is good, use Motorcraft. Get rid of the orange one as soon as possible, they are known to be acidic and cause pump failiure.

  • @drifter-indian1448

    @drifter-indian1448

    Жыл бұрын

    By the way, in case you don't find 50-50 mix, you can go ahead and drain a bit more and then add the water or concentrate whatever is needed to balance things out. I really wont be worried too much.

  • @drifter-indian1448

    @drifter-indian1448

    Жыл бұрын

    Keep squeezing the hoses when you do the refill and most of the air should be out. Don't worry about the air/bubble in them. The system will purge the air but make sure you check the coolant level after you are done and drive for some time. The coolant level will drop when the air gets out. Complete the task, go drive for couple hours and check the coolant level, add more coolant as needed.

    @Canelo Facts I did not wait for it to cool down, just went ahead and opened the drain cap on the radiator first. Remember the fluid is really really HOT and you have to be very careful when you open the drain plug. Open the drain plug first then slowly open the reservoir cap, it will slowly release the pressure and drain the fluid. Be very careful while opening the cap on both ends as it gets very pressurized and might throw the hot liquid out. Open them slowly and let the pressure release. Do not have to wait for it to completely cool down. Also, remember to shut-off the engine before you open the reservoir or the radiator cap.
