The Colorado offers an array of strengths, and it's been tweaked just enough to take on the sales-chart toppers. Just-Right Sizing
Midsize trucks generally get lost in the mix while their full-size counterparts get all the attention. But the Colorado brings a sensible quality that makes it a great alternative to all that full-size talk. The original Colorado's cabin wasn't anything special, but Chevy brings a whole new attitude to this model year. Everything is put together nicely, and the materials have a sophisticated quality. We'd even go as far to say that the Colorado has the nicest cabin in its class. This is a truck ready for a night on the town.
Plenty of Tech
These days, you should expect a truck to have all the latest technology, and the Colorado exceeds expectations in this category as well. Auxiliary audio and USB connectivity come standard, and there's even an available 8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, Pandora Radio and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hot spot. The Colorado's tech offerings are on par with some nicer SUVs.
A Pleasure to Drive
Behind the wheel, you'll experience a great blend of maneuverability and power. The higher driving position exudes a feeling of stability and muscle. And because the Colorado isn't that wide or long, you can zip in and around traffic almost like a car would. And we haven't even touched off-roading: The truck's 4-wheel drive really delivers, and it doesn't have that big-rig feel, which we found refreshing.
Power and Efficiency
The Colorado offers a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 200 horsepower and returns 27 miles per gallon on the highway, which isn't bad for a vehicle this size. You can always go for the 3.6-liter V6, which still returns 26 mpg hwy while pumping out 305 hp -- pretty impressive figures. There's also a 31-mpg diesel engine that can tow up to 7,700 pounds, which is full-size truck territory.
