I got into one of these at a local auto show and the interior quality is far better than the Mitsubishi Mirage which actually costs more than the Micra.

I bought one , and to my surprise the gas mileage was better than expected ( 48 miles per gallon ) driving the Hope-Princeton Highway ( think lots of steep hills and switch backs ) . On a trip to Yellowknife and return the mileage was more than 50 miles to the gallon . Mine is an automatic with air conditioning . Lots of power , two down sides , 1 - the low beam is a joke , seems like there is a baffle inside the light that causes a shadow and complete black out about forty feet down the road , worse lights I've even seen for low beam on the highway ps , mileage per gallon was figured out by multiplying kilometers per liter times 2.825 mine was 16,500 . everything in ,all taxes and fees included , driving down the highway , great deal

I've lived in Quebec for most of my life & I know that car will be a big seller there, its cute for the ladies & perfect for the commute in & around Montreal. Nissan is growing a lot in North America especially with their Rogue 4x4 model & the Micra will add to the boom.

It actually didn't sell that well.. not bad but not a lot either. The Mazda2 was also raved and sold very little in the end. The small cars that sell well in Quebec are the Yaris and Fit

  • @Peppermint1

Nissan has stepped up the price, in Quebec it starts now at $12200, or $17300 for the SV auto with power everything (this includes $1,665 freight which is quite expensive). Anyhow, I went and sat in one of these at the Nissan dealership. Wow. not only it's roomy inside and looks actually quite nice in the upper trims, but I was very impressed by the amazing high sitting position (just like in a minivan) and by the shockingly large feet space at the pedals: I'm 6ft tall and I could perfectly stretch my long legs better than in a Mazda 3 or even CR-V. Now, at my height, the steering wheel was too far away from my body and it doesn't have telescopic adjustment unfortunately. Plus, the seat comfort seemed suspect, so better rent one for a few days before buying. Before spending more money for other 'larger' subcompact cars, definitely give this car a try. Same if you are looking for a Yaris, go try a Micra first.

In N. Z. I think it is called a March. My daughter has a 2007,her first car. Goes like a little rocket. It's a car not intend for a family, students and older people minus kids. Tiida is a great family car from Nissan, heavier, roomier. I have one. Nissan is huge in New Zealand, Tiidas everywhere.

Okay but how does it compare to the Nissan Versa Note? How much extra are you spending for a comparably featured model and what more do you get for the money (features, safety, size, space, etc)? With two such comparable cars I'm surprised you didn't do a "value comparison".

Looks like a good commuter car. But I wouldn't spend extra money on the upgrades at that point you might as well buy a used Kia Forte. I wouldn't buy the base model new. If the base price is $9998, I wonder how quickly the car will deprecate in value. I'm willing to bet that Hertz, Enterprise and all the car rental companies will scoop up this car and after about 30,000km of mileage, car dealers will be selling them for $6000-$7000.

Great little car for someone needing a small runabout, commuter car or a college student looking for something reliable and with a warranty. Smart move by Nissan. Too bad Mitsubishi didn't try harder with their Mirage, a horrible car that costs $2500 more than the Micra! I predict that this class is going to be the next "big" thing. Kia will enter the ring with their European-market Picanto and VW should bring the Polo to North America.

Believe it or not I have. My mom was buying a new car between the micra, mirage, and fiat 500. We both thought for the price the mirage was the better option. And it's only noisy when you red line the thing. No one who buys these cars will ever drive it like it's a sports car. I've been watching your review for a long time, and you are biased. You love certain manufactures and I can tell they affect your reviews.

As someone who drove a Toyota Echo, I do like this car a lot but in my mind, I find it hard to find any impetus to choose this over the Versa Note or vice versa. This car's light-er weight should get better fuel economy than the VN, right? Arguably, the newer tech of CVT and 6spd in the VN may negate any savings this car has in that department. Again, I keep asking that question of why this over that besides of course the price if you so choose the very basic trim.

Nice car apart from the CVT gearbox manufacturing fault on them giving you just 30K miles before the gearbox fails - A new CVT gearbox costs £6000 and Nissan UK will not repair the fault causing the code to show up on the dash. I have disliked this video as you are clearly Pro Nissan UK when they are treating their customers appaulingly by not recalling this faulty CVT gearbox which people in the US have successfully sued them over. The worse thing about this situation is that Nissan UK know that all of these CVT Micras have encountered the problem after 30K miles and so the scrapyards are now full of them. Yet to be frank Nissan UK got away with it because no-one in the UK has the money to sue them for their design fault. Circuit B Transmission Fluid Pressure Sensor Fault, I actually paid Nissan UK £99 to diagnose their CVT gearbox fault and they said "the gearbox is broken and cannot be repaired".

End of the day its bullshit, they state that you can get this under 10 grand, which in itself is bullshit because its like a couple of hundred less, more of a marketing scheme. Secondly, the base model comes with nothing, like Zack mentioned people are going to want to and need to upgrade a few features that pretty much necessary in a car, so you're really buying a 15 thousand dollar car. I mean if they want to sell a cheaper car, why bullshit people, come clean, or actually sell a car that's nicely equipped that has basic features like A/C, and Automatic transmission for a base model. Don't go and say its under 10 grand then you need this and that nonsense. The saddest part is that people fall for it, for 15 grand there are other options out there, don't get tricked into that price, because in realty 99% of people are going to need basic features like A/C and Auto transmissions. If their going to charge for extras, it should be for features like Bluetooth or "luxury" features like that. Remember don't look at what companies try to sell you, use your intelligence and assess what your really buying, because you have to put yourself into their shoes, their only focus is getting as much money out of you as they can no matter what the cost, its up to you the buyer to think carefully before making a purchase.

Automatic always costs extra. Automatic should always be an option since it costs more. This car comes with 6-7 airbags. if it only had 2 airbags i'm sure they would be able to keep the price down and add the AC. Besides AC is not really necessary in Canada. Now if you live in a country like Mexico. Well thats another story!
