2015 Nissan Micra Review

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

There is no greater marketing advantage in the automotive industry than being able to give a vehicle the coveted "lowest priced vehicle on the market" title.
Nissan lays claim to this honor in America thanks to the Versa sedan than can be had for the tidy sum of $12,800 after destination charges.

I'm driving the Micra SV model and I think it's a great little car for what I need. I don't drive very much, and hardly put 10,000 kms a year so it's perfect for what I need. I used to drive a base model Cobalt, I hated it, but I was in an accident and had no choice but to get another vehicle. I didn't have a lot of time to decide between new and used and ultimately I decided to go new and after test driving a few cars, I chose the Micra. I'm pretty happy with my decision, and although I didn't get the $10,000 manual, I'm still paying less for a car that is fully loaded than what I paid for my base Cobalt.

Something less known about these cars. Car reviewers don't tell you, but this is what happens in the car industry. Within a company, sometimes a chief manager puts together a better team and builds a car that's better designed than all the other models in the company, including more expensive ones. It really comes down to how smart is the team that's working on a specific car model, because each car model is made by a different team of designers and engineers. Such is the Micra: it's just one of these very well designed cars. Not all other Nissan products are necessarily this well put together.

That's good a hockey bag can fit in the trunk since it is going to be sold in Canada. My Mazda2 had just enough room for my hockey bag.

I was skeptical about the leg room for tall drivers, so went to sit in one of these. Wow, can't say it enough, leg room at the pedals is like on afull size sedan. On top of it, seating is excellent just like in a minivan great position for tall drivers who are uncomfortable on low seats close to the floor. Not saying the seats are comfortable - Nissan usually is not good at making seats. Also, the car didn't feel cheap at all inside, better than the Yaris. It's also very roomy inside, you just forget you are sitting in a small car. Give it a try, I think is a much much better purchase than the Yaris (except for the looks).

It might drive better than a Mirage, but the warranty, efficiency and pricing right now for 2015 ES models (with cruise, CVT, bluetooth, push button start and few other bits) are floating around 10k in the US. Thats hard to beat!

Not mentioned in the video: The Micra is replacing the Versa in Canada because it was a slow seller there. The Micra was designed for European markets, which is the direction Canadian tastes are moving in. The US will keep the Versa, which is larger, a sedan, and a good seller there. 2014 Versa $11,990 - $16,890 | MPG: 27 city/40 | 1.6L 109hp

27/36 mpg??? That's the same as a Honda Accord which is a mid size car with IIHS Top Safety Pick+ with Good rating in a small overlap crash test, while the Micra probably gets the worst Poor rating in safety, due to the Nissan Versa and Sentra getting poor ratings. I would not buy Microcars due to poor safety in a head on collision with a Big truck or SUV, you'd be FAR safer in a mid size Honda Accord in that kind of a crash. With the same fuel economy as the Micra, the Honda Accord is a far safer, and better car.

Willilly Bab Try to buy a brand new Nissan Micra for $10,000 ??? The Micra at a descent trim level after tax, Freight PDI or whatever cost $16,000 after tax. At $16,000 it would be much better to buy a used 2013 - 2014 Honda Civic which also receives the highest "Good" rating in the IIHS small overlap crash test, and is also IIHS Top Safety Pick+ with 28/39 mpg, still 2 mpg more than the Micra and much safer too.

The last Micra was really ugly but this new one just looks abysmal. I know you have a very small selection of this class in US/Canada so this might actually fly, but in the EU or even India it has no chance compared to VW (Up, Polo), Ford (Fiesta, Ka), Citroen (C1, C3, DS3), Opel (Corsa, Adam), Peugeot (108, 208), Renault (Twingo, Clio), Hyundai (i10, i20), SEAT (Mii, Ibiza), Skoda (Citigo, Fabia), FIAT (500, Punto), Mazda (2) to name a 'few' :) Too bad they are advertising a last-gen car, but it's dirt cheap so there's that :) And I wouldn't advise taking the automatic if you love life.
