Mariotta outplayed by a third-string quarterback. He will play the same way in the NFL. He will be lucky to have a first year as good as Robert Griffin III. But just like Griffin, once he gets hit in the mouth a few times, the flash moves will be over.

Amazing the announcers had already started to coronate Oregon during that first scoring drive. You could hear their disappointment when OSU went up 14-7

Oregon had probably their best team ever that year, however Ohio St peaked at the best time. There was no stopping that Ohio St team by anybody

People would mention Cardale Jones as if he was just a regular backup QB, when in actuality they just had 2 QB's that were of starter caliber. Him and Barret both were in the NFL for several years after. Otherwise they had all their starters playing. If you pause at 17:05, Oregon had 6 key starters out. Addison, Allen and Carrington were Oregon's best WR's all season long, their TE Brown, their most experienced O-lineman in Johnstone and their best corner in Olomu. OSU won fair and square and Elliot ran all over Oregon. Though I agree Oregon probalby had their best team ever that year, they were missing half their offensive starters and a key defensive starter.

How did Ohio State keep their 2002 national title when Maurice Clairette was later found to have been ineligible for 2002 season? Not to mention that super late pass interference 4 seconds after Miami ran onto the Field celebrating.

When you are -4 in turnovers and still win by three TDs... that's beast mode coaching. There was so much disrespectful press about OSU going into this game (even after running and passing all over Bama) that I knew Meyer would have an even easier time than normal getting the guys fired up for this game.

If you heard what the media and University of SEC folks were saying, Bama should have won by double digits. In reality, they should be happy that Derek Henry kept them in the game. And I admitted that Bama was the best team they played (which you would likely agree with). After that, it was obvious to me that they were gonna beat Oregon.

When OSU scored their first touchdown, you could see the sinking feeling of Oregon players, knowing it was over from there.

It was glorious to see the Buckeyes crush these guys and stuff it in the face of Mark May. If it hadn't been for so many of the OSU turnovers, this game would have gotten really ugly.

Bottom line is...in the end, defense still wins the championships! Offense wins games, defense wins championships. Ohio State ended the season with the 29th ranked defense in total team efforts whereas Oregon's was 102nd! While Oregon had the #1 offense, Ohio State's offense was 3rd in total team offense. The bottom line is if you want to win it all you need a top 50 offense and defense both....If you think I'm lying, well....again....you can say they are just stats....but the evidence is there! Florida State won their national championship with the 4th ranked total team offense backed up by their defense which was ranked 7th in total team defense. My fellow football fans....these are not coincidences!!!!!

I've been an Ohio State fan for 46 years, and I've lived in Oregon for 20 years. With his recruiting and coaching ability, Meyer will likely win another NC or two at Ohio State. The Ducks are fun to watch, but they will never beat any blue blooded team to win an NC with only a gimmick offense and small O and D lines. If they ever get a few big fast guys on the line, they'll get an NC.

Cardale Jones should have been the starting QB since 2012, but Urban Meyer has stupid tunnel vision about QBs, he always picks the wrong ones to start. Cardale Jones was a better QB than both Braxton Miller and JT Barrett. There was no way the Buckeyes could win this National Championship if JT Barrett was the QB

Ohio State gave Oregon its' 9th serving of crow here. 0-9. Nope, Oregon has no business on the field with blue blood big boys like Ohio State. Mariota made no difference in this game. Oregon could have been playing any QB from any Division II college & they would not have done any worse than they did with Mariota. Talk about stinking it up on national TV. Only reason Mariota got Heisman is because Ohio State's 1st 2 QB's were injured......and it's obvious that Elliott should have won the Heisman over Mariota. Who looked like the ballerina here? Mariota or Elliott? Hint: it's the tall skinny beanstalk wearing the green & white.

Cardale Jones' performance was reminiscent to Vince Young's in the 05 RoseBowl. Cardale reminds me of faster, stronger, and bigger arm version of Vince Young.

Cardale definitely isnt as fast as vince was, definitely more powerful and a better thrower, reminds me of cam newton with a stronger arm

I think he's faster than VY, there were a couple plays vs Oregon particularly on 3rd down where he beat defenders to the first down mark displaying a great burst and sudden quickness that's quite rare for anyone that size. Not to mention Oregon had one of the fastest defenses in CF last year. VY was a good athlete with great size but I wouldn't call him an elite athlete. Cardale Jones is an elite athlete.

There aren't enough flashy jerseys in the world for Oregon to win a national championship.

they scored really quick. we saw how they played and how quick they like it in that series. after that we pretty much shut them down.

That's like saying if Oregon got touchdowns instead of FGs the ducks would've stomped Ohio state lol

Not sure what to make of this: Buckeyes give up 4 turnovers and after the Ducks complete all the scoring off those turnovers the Buckeyes still have enough points on the board to win the game 21-20. They didn't have to score again to win. They did have to keep the ball to wear down the Oregon defense. How many winners have given up 4 turnovers?

The ducks only scored off of 2 of the turnovers and the Seattle Seahawks turn the ball over 4 times and still win.
