And the great Magali Datzira herself on the Bass! 👏

Incredible - talk about tough tenors!! Look at the average age of the band and then consider what they are doing at this blistering tempo and how well they do it. Special mention for MAGALI DATZIRA and her amazing bass playing - have a sit down! Not only is it fast but it also swings and that ain't easy!

I have great admiration for Magali. I know how difficult it is to keep that fast beat at the beginning. I used to do it when I was young but hands and forearms get fatigued and then you must change the pace before things go wrong. She did GREAT!

Magali !!!!! Everyone !!!!! The undiluted fun they had.

The soloists just killed it, especially Joel! Special kudos go to the bassist and drummer who both laid to down! Bravo, Magali and Esteve!

I must have been asleep when this video came out -- I can't believe I missed it! This is so far beyond amazing that words fail me. And because it's a long tune, there's ample opportunities for folks to display their talent. Marcal, Joan, and Joel on the saxes are of course at the forefront, but you have to give huge shout outs to Ignasi for his solo, and Esteve Pi for the super-solid drumming. But my biggest kudos are reserved for Magali, who was on fire for this tune! In fact, the whole band was just completely hooked up, and you can see it in Joan Chamorro's face and body language as he directs. What an energetic and fun performance!

ONCE AGAIN Joan hits a grand slam. Outstanding arrangement of older jazz classic with a girl bassist from another planet!!!! The only break she gets is when the drummer and saxman trade fours!!! The last 64 bars really rock and Ray Brown was in the audience.

Absolutely delightfully played by everyone. All solos were great including those of Joel Frahm, Ignasi Terraza and the two young lead saxophonists. What a piece!

Speed limit signs have all been taken down for this one. I am in awe of Magali as usual. She wins the race!!!! What intensity and pride in her face and overall demeanor. Mr. C, you not only have the horses, the band is all race horses! Brilliant and totally fun to watch and hear. Thank you.

'The Three Tenors' ... a remarkable performance. Appreciative glances from soloist to soloist - Marçal and Joan having known each other and played together in the band for a good number of years ... and inspiration flowing from Saxmaster Joel ! What a tempo ! ... What a BAND !!

Chamorro's passion and energy drives this incredible ensemble to perform....nobody has more fun than he does. It shows...he brings out the best in everyone.

That is exactly it. Joan is one fantastic band leader -- an occupation I now understand better after watching Joan. His energy! His joy!

Wow ! What a Tour de Force by everybody in the band. The appreciation shown to Joel Frahm by the two young tenor players is wonderful to behold. A great piece of enjoyment for all concerned. Especially the grateful listeners.

It's really great to see young musicians doing so well in the Jazz tradition, and working with pros like Joel Frahm. ...We are all fortunate that there are great Jazz programs surviving in the schools. ...I know that I wish i had been a part of such instruction while growing up. ...These students can be proud of themselves for such wonderful and skillful achievement. Es' muy Bueno!!!

I'm so happy to have discovered the Sant Andreu Jazz Band...I love this style of music, and I don't know of any other band who is producing it anymore...these musicians are so talented!

Exquisite, stunning. Listening to this many times, and pick up more and more. I've seen in person many great bands (including Buddy Rich), and the kids are right up there.

Now that, as they used to say, is a real flagwaver, propelled -- as is noted by another commenter -- without letup by the stellar Sant Andreu rhythm section. What's especially priceless is the looks on the faces of the two young (and excellent) tenor players as the great Joel Frahm gives a master class on how to play ride tenor.

Ignasi is terrific and Pi....the whole gang just great!!! Jazz is alive!!!!

A constant presence, an anchor to the orchestra, hats off to Josep Traver.

Standing ovation. Hats off to both senior and young musicians.

I come from the big band area. Joan and the Sant Andreu jazz band do great rendition of this jazz tune!! The student sax solos are outstanding. I really like Joel Frahm.

William L Robinson Joel Frahm is the man.

Wow! I can't even listen that fast.

Congratulations to the young tenor sax soloists. This level of skills requires lots of training, and even more listening of bebop-era solos. No great solos, not even the virtuoso Joel Frahm could have made this performance groove without the incredible rhytm section. The young bass player Magali Datzira did more than just a great job pushing the band forward together with drummer Esteve Pi and the rest of long-time professionals of the rhytm section.

Great arrangement of this Cole Porter tune. The individual solos are great. The big band backup is terrific. Joel does an outstanding tenor sax solo. Joan does it again. Way to go Joan.

Tremendous energy and swing. Just beautiful.

Sounds like Woody Herman’s Herd in the 50s a 10 yr old boy in the reed section & am I hearing Four Brothers playing minus 1 doing the solos . The band swings like Big bands used to here in the US. Joan you are up there with the best .
