I'd rather have a last years model SHO than any of the other options. the taurus is a comfortable car and back that with a twin turbo v6 and AWD, it becomes a fast couch.

I had a 2017 LTZ. Sorry to say, but absolutely awful car. Uncomfortable and crammed for its size, underpowered, and very problematic. Same with the 300, I’ve owned 3 and had nothing but issues and performance wasn’t super impressive for its power (5.7). I have a 2010 SHO and 2015 SEL AWD and they’re both much better performance, comfortability, and cargo wise than the others. I don’t see why so many people dick ride the Impalas.

I was looking at SHO’s and went with an e-85 n/a 3.5L V6 taurus and spent 5k on different mods. Now onto a q50. Taurus is great. Mines 2014’ with tint / sunset metalic orange / big nitto tires/ dark grey aftermarket 19’s. tuner chip / cold air intake/ ngk plugs/ modified air pocket for intake. After 180k miles of driving I can say i’ve spent $250 outside of preventative maintenance. it’s been reliable and pretty versatile and its clearly just passing half way through it’s life. I was hard on the suspension when i lived in the city it’s turning into a rough ride . The big cold air intake and box made it sound like a 5.0. Took it 800 miles in 11 hours stopping and taking all of the time I wanted outside the car. Had the cruise set at 130 for nearly 50 miles at one point and car ran very well besides the aerodynamics. Doesn’t like running cold , takes forever to warm up. That taurus can make some good power though and get some impressive fuel mileage down the highway for its weight. Cant complain about the trunk either. The whole reason i side with it over the others is the amount of size doesn’t equate to all weight with it , it’s lighter than the charger and chrysler 300, longer and wider. It was a beast when I got caught in a bad snow storm once traveling across country. Selling it here soon so i don’t have to dump money into rotors and struts.

You can get the 3.5L Naturally Aspirated TI-VCT V6 with AWD.. and its cheaper than the 300C/300S AWD models. I believe for the trim level needed for the AWD model, the sticker is still under $30k.

I like the front end of the Impala but I'd take the Chrysler 300, it's rear or Awd like a large car should have. Plus a V8 option. It looks the classiest out of the 3. I owned a 92 Chrysler Fifth Avenue premier and it was the most comfortable and reliable car I owned. I now prefer trucks and large suv's, as I have four kids. But I would definitely suggest a large car to them when they get ready to drive, it's a safety tank and has the build quality much better usually then small cars. It won't make you feel like something is lacking, room, comfort, options, solid feel and power. Most now have good gas mileage as well. I hope they don't discontinue big cars as well.

It is however, very well taken care of. I use only fully synthetic oil, usually Penzoil or Quaker State. Air filter and PCV are changed out every 50,000kms. Spark plugs were replaced at 100,000, then again at 200,000 and they will be replaced soon at 300,000kms. I also have the transmission fluid flushed + filter and gasket replaced every 100,000kms and it's still going strong on the original transmission!

Chassis wise, both the Taurus and 300 are showing their age - both were introduced in 2005 on their current platform, with the Taurus having a major body change over it's Volvo based platform that was introduced as the Ford Five Hundred the same year the Chrysler 300 was introduced on it's MB W211 platform. And yes, both can be had with AWD in popular trim levels... MB 4-Matic for the 300 and the Haldex system Volvo is known for under the Taurus. Last year for the aging Taurus as we see it now.

goatmonkey2112 Yes the Charger will have the 3.5l V6 engine for their base model and go to 5.7l V8 engine for the best configuration you can get from them. I think the V8 version of 300 will cost more than the V8 Charger consider that the 300 looks more luxurious than the Charger, but we'll see later. It's hard to conclude which one to get though as they both look awesome! But in terms of reliability nobody knows about it yet because they are still Chrysler. :(

soaringtractor stick shift sucks. Like I said, I'm keeping my Honda civic LX. That automatic 5 speed actually downshifts going down a hill and lets the engine brake it. Like a computer senses it. Most automatics I drove around here just run away and burn the brakes out till the fade and you can't stop on some of these Mountain hills, like in the Catskills. Believe me, I drove a stick shift though accidents and road construction enough to know how they suck. That's why everybody spends the extra grand for the automatic. At the time I wrote that, everybody around here with the big Dodges were running me off the road, that's why I wanted to step up. But seems now they all got the big Ford sitting in the driveway and bought a compact car to actually drive around and leave the truck at home for Homedept errands. So if they like it or not, I'm keeping my Honda civic LX

How can you not go with the 300 over those other old man mobiles? Chrysler 300 is a traditional RWD American muscle car, with refined European touches, beautiful mixture of class, executive, luxury and sport. The impala and Taurus don't even come close too lol. The 300 turns heads as it drives, the impala and Taurus get lost on the road with every other vehicle. Just look at that 300, it's comparable to the CTS, 5 Series, S4, MKS, it's just light years ahead in styling and composure of these other cars. It's the reason why at car shows you see Challengers, Chargers and 300s. When's the last time you've seen a Taurus or Impala at a car show unless it's parked across the road at the hardware store?

Plus the AWD does come with slightly lower gearing to even out the extra weight. In the rwd you get 2:92 gears, in the AWD 3:09. The Impala is a very nice automobile and so is the Taurus, that does come in more levels, performance being the top. But a Hemi Powered 300 will run with the SHO all day! Anyway, obviously the intent of putting another 25k into the SHO is for aftermarket parts and tune. With that work, the SHO will kill the Hellcat on the street. More power + all wheel drive launch will beat a 707 hp skinny tired rwd any day. I'd still rather the Hellcat personally, but I'm not naïve enough to think it would win that battle.

Surprisingly fast, roomy, comfortable, and impressive fuel economy(27.5mpg combined with spirited driving, thanks to the cylinder deactivation when cruising). One thing I hate about it though, is how quickly it destroys tires. It's extremely heavy so it wears tires out like crazy. And that's partly because stock tires are usually super cheap to begin with.

Chevy impala not only looks better but also the most hp! Haters keep on! Just look at the #s sold with all 3 cars and that also tells the story! Fwd is the way to go now, try a rwd car in the snow a tell me it's better than fwd and your a big fat lie!!!! I will agree awd is better but your going to pay for that! I just cannot fall in love with any of the ford looks at all, and the Chrysler needs a whole new look, the Chevy is really sharp, the white ones are awesome!!!

Believe it or not you can super charge the pentastar for around 420 HP. I love the exterior look of the impala but the 300's interior in my opinion is really nice but I'm bias on this subject as I own a 300. I just can't do that steering wheel on the impala. The Taurus is just boring on all levels but over a good car.

Also, rwd in the snow isn't that bad. I live in north Dakota and have a rwd 300. Haven't ever had a problem unless flooring it around a corner.

I've tried RWD in the snow and it is much better. You can have control over the steering at all times if you know how to manage the gas pedal and counter steer but with FWD once you begin to spin out you've lost all hope.

FWD is way better than RWD in snow .I have a 2010 ss Camaro and it doesn't do really well in the Indiana snow, my brother's Honda it's a FWD and does better in the snow because of the weight of the motor being up front, gives it more traction.

Short loop or not, comparing 3 cars by yourself has gotta be hard work. Solid comparison overall. How do you think the new 300 in AWD form will stacks up against the current Lacrosse or even the MKS?
