2014 Mercedes-Benz E350 Coupe Eco vs Sport Mode 0-60 MPH Review

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

( www.TFLcar.com ) The 2014 Mercedes-Benz E350 Coupe 4Matic is a sporty two door German luxury car that competes with other premium two door German coupes like the Audi A5. The 2014 Mercedes-Benz E350 is fast, comfortable and firmly planted both on the highway and carving canyons. To help maximize every drop of fuel the E350 can be driven in Eco mode or Sports mode. Of course we were immediately curious which mode is faster. In another accurate, informative and fun TFLcar review Roman drives this newest e-class Merc from 0-60 MPH in both Eco and Sports mode to see which one is faster. You may be surprised by the results.

I have the 2015 E400 coupe and I love it. I had the C350 Coupe before and when the lease was up I tried the BMW435 and I was pretty convinced to get it until I drove this. There was no way to compare the luxury feeling inside. It really depends what you want from your car. There is no point to compare BMW or AUDI with MB. They excel in different areas and it's a question of taste and expectations. Personally I look for a smooth ride and a luxurious interior. I got this one in steel grey with red leather interior and so far I give it an A+

Here's a hint for you guys as to why you frequently get very similar 0-60 times in a car's various "modes": On many if not most cars, the throttle and shift mapping temporarily default to the most aggressive mode when the throttle is mashed, the logic being that the driver intends to summon all of the car's power whenever he floors it no matter what "mode" it's in.

In Eco mode the Benz starts in second gear and upshifts at lower rpm than in Sport mode. Throttle response and shifts are "sharper" in Sport. Roman is correct that when you floorboard the throttle the car defaults to Sport mode but will revert to Eco mode if that was selected.

People don't buy Mercedes for the 0-60 time. The essence of Merc is quite different from BMW and Audi, which people keep comparing them to. Once you drive some Mercs, it's pretty clear what they're going for.

maybe not specifically for the 0-60, but with an msrp of 50k+, an engine putting out 302hp, and the car being a coupe (and this awd), there is no reason this car should be slower than it's 3.5L v6 competitors. A camry V6 shouldn't blow the doors off this things

What about when driving around bends? i have a 2012 220 and its always in eco mode because its default, better mileage and ive never noticed any real difference when its in sport but the other day i wanted to see what it was like around a few turns/roundabouts where i live and it almost felt as if the suspension had changed or some other settings on the car had changed. MB salesman told me sport mode only holds revs longer but the cars balance and steering really felt better. Usually on a roundabout or sharp turn, i need to hold the wheel with quite a bit of force otherwise it tries to understeer slightly at higher speed but when it was in sport mode on the same roundabout, went round so nicely and exited fast off as well

from my experience in the E39 5 series the difference in shift modes tend to be more noticeable in normal driving, the sport mode results in the car tending to drive in at least one gear lower (compared to 'normal' mode) and hence faster to accelerate and overtake when you are already driving at a particular speed.

it's a shame I've seen this so late. the Mercedes has an option called Advanced Agility control; there you have a Sport button near the hazard. really a shame dealers fail to know and correctly advertise what they are selling. you should do the side-by-side advance agility vs agility control. the advance agility is roughly a 1 sec quicker to 0-60mph.

I’m thinking about picking up a 2014 E350. The W209 and then this generation are some of my favorite Mercedes coupe’s, the front end that debuted in 2014 is better looking than the newer Mercedes models in my opinion, even in the crazy car market right now for 20k can get a really nice example loaded with DisTronic plus under 80,000 miles, known to be one of the most reliable modern Mercedes with a 3.5 cylinder, I’m sure the E400 It’s a blast but it’s not nearly as reliable as the tried and true V6

Abdulrahman Kublan It's what it's. Lexus is reliable. You can't make that up after it's what Lexus brand is about. Reliable and luxury. BMW is great handling but mechanic dream car. You can't make it up. You think of Japanese and it's reliable and at time boring. German is sporty but unreliable. This "rumor" didn't just happen overnight. Lets not be fan boy and defend for no reason. You coudl check all your used car dealer in your area and you will see BMW has the most used car and they are all 2011,2012,2013. If it's so great, then people would keep their ride a bit longer that 1-2years.

Personally I would rather have a "boring" Lexus that will last and give me value for my money, rather than a BMW or Mercedes which may be fun to drive, but will be often in the shop and draining my bank account. In the short time that Lexus has been around; they have made quite a name for themselves. Must be a reason for that.

The idea of worrying about something breaking on a new, expensive car is pretty pointless. If you can afford one new the chances are you're not going to run it past warranty so it doesn't matter to you. If you're buying second hand it's just another system like the other hundreds that are in a modern car. By that logic you could say electric windows are just something to go wrong. Or opening and closing doors. Pretty soon we're back at a horse and cart.

The Eco and Sport mode don't do a bloody difference to your 0-60 time if you're flooring the accelerator. All it does is change the behaviour of the car so it upshifts earlier and makes the throttle slightly less responsive in an effort to conserve fuel in normal driving conditions. Either way if you're flooring it and trying to get the best performance, the car isn't stupid. Actually one of the more ridiculous reviews I've seen.

3:50 Really ? of course LOOL ! It doesnt matter if you are in Eco or Sport mode WHEN you are giving full power. And it was like that before aswell. Its nothing new. If you are giving half throttle than you will see a difference but when you are giving full throttle it doesnt matter, it will not shift early in Eco Mode. This would be very dangerous on the street, for example a truck is coming from the side and you have to get away from there fast, it woulf be quite funny and dangerous if the car would be slower in Eco mode when you are giving full power... makes sense right !!!?

It sounds a bit underpowered on paper but the 7 speed auto makes up for it in terms of power distribution. BUT, I would take the Hyundai Genesis Coupe with the 3.8 for less than half the price and I bet the Hyundai would win in a drag race.

I’m just not impressed. Ok I know this car has no turbo. But even naturally aspirated it should have way more power at that price range.
