I saw this video when it came out, revisiting now because I got a little older and am now in a position to own a motorcycle. Especially with the Ninja 400 hundred coming out and a little bit of age, the Ninja 300s are starting to dip into real $3xxx territory. It's kind of exciting that this happened, it's almost as if the bike has gotten more attractive over the years. Definitely going to be a staple of beginner bikes like the 250 for a long time

My wife and I have been riding our Ninja 300's for about 18 months now and still love going for a ride. We are looking at upgrading sometime in the near future. We're looking at the BMW F800GT as a tourer, and perhaps the Ninja 650 or the ZX-6R (for me!!)...As such, we've been scouring youtube for reviews etc...and we must say that your review of the Ninja 300 is by far the best motorcycle review out there, and tops ANY review out there, even ones done by online magazine! It seems that some people think that doing a video of themselves riding a bike constitutes a 'review'. Your format is very informative and provides some insight into the pro's and con's, compares with similar bikes...absolutely well done review....I reckon you could make a full-time job out of this!

Excellent review! I bought my Ninja 300 in June '13 for $4700 cash. I've put 7400 miles on it since then. No issues other than taking it in for the ECM recall and the brake caliper recall. I added a yoshimura slip-on exhaust and the moment I did I was upset that I didn't get one sooner. It sounds amazing with that pipe. And I agree with your assessment of the stock tires, they're fine and last a decently long time if you do not ride aggressively. But the hard compound isn't great for hard cornering. I ride to commute and am still on the stock tires, but will need to replace the rear soon. Even after 18 months of owning it, this bike doesn't bore me in any way. I do not intend on getting a 600 because the gas mileage and insurance rates are amazing. To sum it up, I too recommend this amazing bike, and I wish it wasn't winter right now :( Ride safe everyone.

I picked up a new 2017 ninja 300 yesterday. 70 miles on it so far and I agree with your opinion. Im an experienced rider, 40 years old, 6'1 155 pounds 35" inseam. A little small for me but it actually feels like a pair of shoes that I love so much but are a half size too small but you wear them anyways because they fit great! I got mine model close out for 4,373 OTD. they are on sale right now in the U.S. for $2,999 with $250 off for veterans or active duty! Thanks Kawasaki!!

Great review - I watched this post-purchase of a 2013 non-ABS model, and probably the best I've seen so far. Very complete and objective, and to echo another commenter, no profanity (not that I care about that, but I did notice). Thanks! edit: I had to do a separate search for the gear indicator you mentioned at the beginning, though I can't see it in the video... where did you mount it?

Good review. I bought my 2014 Ninja 300 SE two weeks ago for 3700$ with less than 2k miles. Its taking some getting used too. I formally owned a Yamaha 1300 VStar. Totally different ride! I do appreciate how light and maneuverable the Ninja is. It was so windy the other day, I thought I was going to get blown right off the highway, then it dawned on me that all I had to do was lay down on this bike and allow the air to blow right over my head. The only thing I don't like is the constant shifting in city driving. On my last bike I didn't have to shift pass third gear in the city.

I was riding a Suzuki LC1500 in Texas but moved to Bogota, Colombia South America where my wife is from. Anxious to take on the curbs and hills in this country, as there are plenty of them. Question: What tires do you recommend? What about the Pirelli Diablo Rosso II, in the same original size?

Great review and opinion! The only think I don't agree is calling the low cc a "beginner bike" . This bike can be a weapon on experienced hands. It dosent make 600cc power , but balancewise is an amazing bike that can makeup for the lesser engine!

Great review Fluxx. I currently have a 2011 CBR250R I purchased used with 1,300 miles. It is my first bike, never rode before ever. I took the safety course and purchased all the necessary gear. I really love the low weight of my bike. I was wondering what bike in the future to get and I want to continue with a bike that I can really throw around and use it to its max performance without killing myself. The Kawasaki 300 especially after seeing this review will probably be it. Thanks again you now have another subscriber.

Thanks for the feedback! You have definitely started on the right bike, id say before upgrading id look into doing a track day on your CBR250r and doing an instructional course, once you have done this and you have gotten all your riding techniques set and improving, you can look to upgrade to something like the Triumph Daytona 675r or CBR600rr if you want a sport bike. Ill be reviewing the Daytona 675r in the next week or two as well so keep an eye out for that.

Great video! My wife and I bought two 2014 Ninja 300SE ABS (Candy Orange) and absolutely love 'em. We have read some mixed reviews etc about the correct way to break-in the engines. Some say follow the manufacturers method (which makes it difficult and dangerous to ride out on the highway, and then there are others who say to use the 'hard break-in' method, like, selecting 1st gear and riding until 8000rpm, engine break back to around idle (or thereabouts), 2nd gear, wind it out to 8000rpm again, engine break back down again...and repeat for all six gears. We are interested in your thoughts on this apparently contentious topic! Kepp up the great work - very informative. W & B

I love my 2015 ninja 300 with yoshimura exhaust . I will say a month later I'm wishing I'd of listened to my sister and many others and went with a 650 . I actually think the ninja 300 looks way better than the ninja 650 but the fact that you can't downshift if needed to get out of trouble situations due to the gearing means you have to ride much more carefully when around other vehicles.

You CAN probably move the front fork tubes up. I bought a used Ninja 250 that had been owned by a very short woman who had done it. But it requires an after market spacer that goes under the handlebar mount. I know this because I moved them back to stock and removed the spacer. Of course the handlebar is raised slightly. It appears that this would also apply to the Ninja 300.

Great review indeed. I am looking to buy a brand new motorbike in the 250cc range as a starting bike as I am a new comer to riding. My number 1 choice is the Suzuki GW250Z Inazuma. However the dealer in my region won't bring it in until 3-4 months from now and this is not mentioning the 3 and a half months of following up and ending up with nothing. So I think this would be a good alternative for me. Very informative review, my biggest concern is what can the display tell me about my ride besides current speed? You mentioned it shows your speed, Fuel, Trip A and Trip B, ODO which is a given. But no gear indicator or temperature guage. I don't mind the gear indicator not being present as lots of bikes do that and I have trained on bikes with no gear indicator present anyway so this is alright. However the temperature guage, that will take time for me to understand when is my bike overheating or not in case it ever happens so it will take time to understand. Overall, I think this will be my alternative given that the Inazuma will be too little too late to arrive in the dealership.

Great review. Just got a new 2015 abs version. Any problems with speed wobble? Have read quite a few people having an issue where they needed to change stem bearings to tapered ones. Btw...you sound like an airline pilot. Ahhh...weight of the bike....ahhh..great gas mileage.....ahhh...we'll be landing shortly.

Be careful of the brakes and tires. Tires will be slippery and brakes depending if you got ABS or not will be touchy so be careful not to lock your wheels.

Hey, I really need to know what you think of the Yamaha R3, cos im looking at this (ninja 300) and the R3 as i wanted a 600 but dont want to die, so need to learn first for a year. Also which is better the kawasaki NINJA ZX-6R or the yamaha R6 ? as i would like to trade the 300 for a 600 at the dealer. So yamaha R3 to yamaha R6 or kawasaki NINJA 300 to kawasaki NINJA ZX-6R.

By the way just a little curiosity, does the ninja 250 2015 model performs as good as the 300? Instead of just cc upgrade is there anything else that's different in it cause I own a 250 and it would be great to hear ur thoughts on it.....would be pleased to hear from a expert.

I have 8400 miles on mine. No problems before I got hit. Still waiting for it to be finished. It was 5500 with abs. I'm just now changing the original tire it's a 2013.

Great review it told me everything i needed to know but just one thing can you wheelie it since it has the slipper clutch it will disengage if the rpm raises high to fast and you have to rev it high and pop the clutch to wheelie so can it or cannot wheelie?

I'm either getting this or the 2013 edition. Not sure which one. Kinda leaning towards the 2013 just because it has less miles
