OMG!! Thank you Rudy for sharing this. I just performed this on my son's 2012 Honda Civic.

My battery died and I got a jump start on my car and the display stopped showing. The hard restart worked like a charm! Thanks for sharing the info! After I restarted the car I needed to put in my radio code as a tip check the glove compartment and enter the numbers on the stickers inside.

Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou. I tried this on my 2013 civic ES Cuz my abs lights along with other lights would it turn off. So I did this HARD START trick and it restarted the car’s computer. Of course I had to drive it a few days so as to let the computer recalibrate. WOW my dash lights ALL CLEARED. LIKE NEW. THANKYOU again for this video. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

masludicren how was your car acting before you restarted it?

For safety the battery disconnection should be negative first, and the reconnection should be positive first.

I just started having this problem on my 2012 civic, like a week ago no odometer no MPG , im going to try this for sure, the dealer is all like u would have to bring it in and have it diagnosed for $140. haha

Thanks! that really helped. My friend in Hawaii has a 20212 civic and it has done the exact same thing. Now I can tell her what to do!

Theoretically, this should work on every make and model with similar problems as well when no start.. By doing this you are resetting the whole system: not just ECU but modules, sensors, circuits. However, the computer needs to relearn the new parameters of idling, rpms, etc. It takes several cycles of driving..

NEVER connect your NEGATIVE battery cable first. always connect the positive to reduce the risk of spark and unwanted power surges

Is it OK if I have my Honda flashpro tune or will it reset that too

3:41 press Menu button -customer settings -Display set up -Scroll “ trip meter item to display” -Then choose between average fuel, range, elapsed time, or average speed. -Press menu to exit. THIS IS ON A 2014 Si. Not sure what trim package yours is. The menu options may be a little different.

i have 2015 honda civic and i have a issue for my imid screen not working so i tried this still didnt work.

I have a problem were my 2015 civic turn off on me and the power steering light came on also the traction control and the tire pressure. If I do that will it go away??

Is on the driver side under the hood between the brake fluid reservoir and the battery. Basically it's behind the battery the black box that's where your ECM engine control model is located it's the Black Box behind the battery between the battery in the brake fluid reservoir

No just for computer reset

Clock and everything should reset regardless if you just disconect either of the 2 wires off the battery. Pos. Or neg. Touching those wires together while not connected to a powersource is pointless non the less lol.
