Thanks to the owner for letting us spend some time with his new Fiesta ST! Modifications include a COBB shift knob and some aftermarket turn-signal bulbs. Based on the owner's previous Fiesta, there will be many more mods to come...

    So true mate. A lot of drivers don't know how to drive fast cars. They think you have to floor it all the time. The point for me is if its a powerful car, then obviously by driving it normally it will be relaxing, and knowing you have enough power to overtake and hill climb etc is a bonus.

    I would never be able to drive mine like this unless I was completely tired, but props for respecting someone else's car. To anyone that wants to know if this car can perform, the answers yes. There is really not one car in this price range that competes with this car, the handling is insane. The sound symposer being plummed into the cabin just gives such a nice throaty sound just to remind you your not in another disappointing car that's suppose to be sporty. This car delivers!

    I drove one of these at a test drive event last summer, and it was love at first drive. I never felt so much excitement and fun out of one car. Plus, as a novice to a manual transmission, the Fiesta ST's was easy to learn and use. It really is a great car to learn the fun of driving in. I called it my driving nirvana.

    I recently discovered your POV test drives and am addicted. HOWEVER, you drive like the alter boy of the church that you begin and end each run at. From the extraneous turn signals and downshifts to the pacifist maneuvers I can't determine which car is bad ass and which has the best-sounding blinker bong! Order up a set from one of those Low-T things, mate!

    Man, Ford did a great job of making this thing sound great on the inside. I probably wouldn't even do an intake or exhaust. Refined, but snarky. I dig it. If I was in the market for a new car, it would be a really tough choice between this and an FR-S/BRZ.

    jay czyzyk I wrecked several BRZ and FRS at the local 1/8th, on the freeway, and once one tried to keep up in some remote windy roads. The Fiesta just packs more oomph and more fun for sure. I have only ever seen one review that found a way to give a faster lap time to the FRS/BRZ than the Fiesta on any track.

  • @airplanefanatic4063
    @airplanefanatic406310 жыл бұрын

    I notice that you drop it down through the gears when you decelerate. I can hear the engine rev. That's not good for the clutch. I advise you to either coast in neutral or keep it in the highest gear you were in and once the engine RPM gets to about 1000, take it out of gear and coast at that point. But that downshifting stuff is going to make that clutch wear faster. Just a tip. Nice video, but my non ST Fiesta can do what you did in this video. You didn't really show what the ST can do, but that's ok.

  • @splewy

    @splewy

    10 жыл бұрын

    He's heel/toe downshifting. It's a popular performance driving technique that is used by enthusiasts and professional drivers alike. Provided you rev match correctly, it doesn't put that much wear on the clutch either. What really wears the clutch is when you shift into a lower gear and just let the clutch out without rev matching.

    You definitely want to learn heel-toeing to get the most out of a manual box, particularly on track. It's also good to learn trail braking which combined with introducing left foot braking are some great skills for any driver on a race track.

  • @opmike343

    @opmike343

    10 жыл бұрын

    Quite frankly, you don't quite know what you're talking about. Simply tossing the thing into neutral or waiting until you're about to come to a stop to pull it out of gear is lazy, "barely making it" amateur driving. First of all, you're cutting power to the wheels when it's unnecessary and you've removed the ability to quickly accelerate out of a problem. And secondly, what do you do when you're coming up to a sharp curve that doesn't require a stop, but requires you to slow down enough that dropping a few gears is necessary? A properly rev matched downshift, or a rev-matched downshift while braking (commonly called a heel-toe downshift) won't put any extra wear on the clutch as the ENTIRE point is to match the engine speed with the wheel speed. It sounds like you're advocating against any and all downshifting which is complete nonsense. I suggest you educate yourself a bit further before you go online and attempt to give other people "advice" on how to drive a manual.

  • @opmike343

    @opmike343

    10 жыл бұрын

    gnarkillkicksass For someone that doesn't understand the basics of rev matching and downshifting a car, left foot braking is pretty far out of the universe of things to worry about.

  • @Maurazio

    @Maurazio

    10 жыл бұрын

    btw even if you don't rev match, a bit of easy "motor breaking" is used by normal people to slow down, the clutch may wear faster but it's not that bad (if you go easy with it, that is), and if you're going downhill you sure don't put it in neutral.
