This is a quick video for anyone wanting to know how to change the stock air filters on a Infiniti q50 with the 3.7. This will be very similar to a 370z or a G37 as well.

thanks for the info..just bought a 2015 Gonna change air filters tomorrow
I just replaced the filters on my 2014 Q50 and I CANNOT get those two tabs at the bottom back into the slots on either side of the engine. How did you finally manage to do it?

I fought and fought with them. It helped tilting them back but not much. If you notice they have a little lip that had to go in first.

yes that's the difficult part. When inserting the filters, put them on the back (instead of the front as shown in the video) and slide them down when you slide with the back. Slide the back down tilting at an angle such that you can push the little lip into the bottom hook (dont worry about lining up at this point). Once the lip is in position, push it on the bottom hook to get it in place.

i just did mine you can take out the entire front portion of the intake box just by pulling upward after you remove both bolts holding it down. it makes it super easy to get those pesky clamps at the bottom.

@lickbaby4296 Thanks for the info. I would still advise anyone who uses a 'quick' oil change business to tell them "DON"T TOUCH THE AIR FILTERS" before they have even lifted the hood. I finally asked my dealer to seat them when I went in for my last maintenance. On top of all the aggravation I had trying to get those tabs seated, they told me I should have used oiled filters instead of the dry ones. Of course, the oiled ones are more expensive and you have to replace them, rather than take them out and tap the dirt out of them, but are they worth it?
isn't fram bad for air filters?

I've never had a issue out of the air filters. I'm not a fan of the oil filters though. I've had several issues out of those.
