Wow is about the only word that comes to mind when you view the 2013 Lamborghini Aventador for the first time. Press the throttle and this exotic car warps your mind. This sexy beast is the rightful heir to the Lambo throne and replaces the Murcielago as the ubber raging bull. With any new Lamborghini release, the world becomes enamored and awestruck, but this 700 horsepower all-wheel drive beast has really upped the exotic car game and left its competitors in the dust. So what's it cost to drive the pinnacle of automotive engineering? Try a cool $400k on for size!

50 years ago a man named Ferruccio who owned a successful tractor company wanted to buy a sports car so he bought a Ferrari. He liked the car but had a few suggestions to make it better. When Enzo Ferrari snubbed Ferruccio the battle for exotic car supremacy was born. Now on the 50th anniversary of Lamborghini, we have this, the greatest Lamborghini's of all time: the Aventador.
There is a new king at the top of the Lamborghini family tree. The Murcielago has been loved for many years and the Aventador has stepped up to take its place. This is the biggest and baddest Lambo you can buy. The car reviewed here in the test drive video sports a $14,000 matte paint job that looks amazing. Up front the headlights are gorgeous with the unique LED daytime running light "Y" style. Down the side you notice the massive wheels with the huge carbon-ceramic brakes and bright orange calipers. The car is very low measuring only 44 inches tall. The scissor doors look fantastic and are a Lamborghini trade mark. Out back the engine is open only covered by a transparent bonnet allowing you to see the heart of this beast. The wicked looking tail lamps mimic the pattern seen on the headlights. The whole look is aggressive supercar super amazing!
Under the bonnet is a 6.5 liter V-12 engine that produces 691 horsepower and 508 lb-ft. of torque. This rocket ship blast from 0-60 MPH in 2.9 seconds! Keep your foot planted and the 2013 Lamborghini Aventador has a top speed of 207 MPH. The ISR gearbox is a 7-speed transmission that shifts in milliseconds. Another innovation on the Aventador is the push-rod style suspension. This setup is more commonly seen in Formula-1 race cars.
The interior on the 2013 Lamborghini Aventador is inspired by a fighter jet cockpit. The steering wheel feels great in your hands; the center stack is perfectly angled to allow the driver to monitor climate, navigation, and audio. The gauges are not analog rather a TFT Screen.
Driving the Aventador is the closest thing to flying a fighter jet. The acceleration is wild and the engine is ferocious making lots of noise since its mounted right behind the cabin. Besides the power, this exotic car handles fantastically. There are 3 different drive modes on the Aventador. Strada is the normal mode where traction control is at its fullest, the exhaust note is muted a bit, and the shifts are easier. Sport mode relaxes the traction control and shifts get a little quicker. For the real Lamborghini experience, pop the car into Corsa mode and the car go on full tilt with lightning fast shifts.
At over $400k this car is only for the rich. But they are getting an amazing machine that is wild, brash, in your face, and aggressive. It's everything you would want from a Lamborghini Supercar! There is no better way to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Lamborghini than by driving the 2013 Aventador.

Theres only 4 types of people who can afford this beauty: sport stars, big business people, music stars and movie stars. Its really sad that even though im set to become either a teacher or pharmacist or biologist i surely will never be able to afford anything like this. Society is fucked up! Its also sad that about 1% of the world own more than half of its wealth. Something needs to be done

Because you are... Ferraris that are in the same price range as the aventador completely embarrass the Lambo. Don't give me that "its faster in a straight line" bs. That's only because of its all-wheel drive. You get these cars to show off, not for performance unless your idea of a good performing car is being heavily overweight and understeering like crazy.

the maintenance on it and insurance is ridiculous. Driving it also loses its value. With that price you would think they would come up with a no maintenance car or at least low cost maintenance. Expensive cars are for the rich.

Some guy down there near the bottom said this car was "unreliable" and would take a GTR? Ive seen countless GTRs break down at our track so if anything a GTR is highly unreliable, especially when modded. Also you don't own an Aventador so you obviously do not know how reliable it is.

Exactly. He has no idea. As a mechanic, I can tell you tune ups are extremely expensive for the Lambo, but if you are rich enough to buy it, you are rich enough to maintain it as well. I can also tell you overall the three worst car companies for reliability are Nissan, Mitsubishi and Hyundai. I love the Aventador, and she beat the Bugatti Veyron's time slip on the BBC Top Gear test track. The GTR was much further down the list on that track.

I've watch 3 gtr's blow their engines in one day at our drag strip. That's completely horrible. I honestly don't understand why people buy them. They are a Japanese import tying to be an exotic in my opinion amd have wayyyyy to much hype surrounding them. Yes they do have great launch control systems, but what about after that? And let's be real, GTRs are ugly. I wouldn't pay 100k for a car that has low grade material, an inline 6 ingine, hand build engine so that if you mess up one part and order another one, it never fits perfect, horrible looks, and honestly way to many people have them.

This guy took an unwarranted shot at Porsche. Unlike Lamborghini, Porsche has cars like the Boxster and the Cayenne that many upper middle class people can actually afford. Boxster starts around 50k, the cheapest Cayenne is in the high 40s. I dare you to find a brand new Lambo of any model for under 100k$. I have nothing against Lamborghini but I have much love for Porsche. This dude needs to STFU!
