2013 KIA Optima Hybrid Drive & Review

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

( www.TFLcar.com ) The 2013 KIA Optima Hybrid is a sexy car that offers outstanding value and gets great gas mileage. Like most hybrids it has two power sources that put out a combined 206 HP to the front wheels through a standard 6 speed automatic transmission. About three years ago when it was first introduced it took the world by storm but today it competes with the newly redesign Toyota Camry Hybrid and the soon to be introduced Ford Fusion Hybrid. So how does it stand up to those cars. Check out this new car review as we test the 2013 KIA Optima Hybrid

I like your videos, your presentation and style. May I please suggest you use a wind deflector on the microphone? I do a lot of video in windy conditions as well. There is one called a "dead cat" (hate the name) that works quite well. Also, when you are editing you can choose an option called "reduce backround noise". Hope this helps, otherwise,I love your auto review work!

Can't agree with you more Roman...The Optima looks fantastic! Just bought a Pre-owned 2011 and keep going for drives just to feel how responsive the 2.4 GDI and 6 speed auto work together. Planning a road trip to Colorado in the Spring so I won't be forced to contend with any foul weather. Thanks for the reviews!

Just to put a little history into this, some of the first automatics were a bit sketchy, but by the time you started to see three-speeds like the Torqueflite on the market, most people loved them. They were simple as hell to drive (just press the button and go!), they were always smooth because of that torque converter, and on race day they ruled the drag strip with their consistency and quick shifts. They were perfect for an era of cruising and drag racing.

Roman great VID! I like the looks and the wheels. Not in love it though. And the lower front facia seems very cheaply made around the fog lights. The Sonata rides a little softer and the Kia Optima has a little firmer ride and better handling. I hear a lot of reviewers say the Sonata is more refined then the Kia's because Kia just borrows the drive trains and tunes the suspension different True? False? it's still hard thinking $32K for a Kia Sedan. I would wait for the Fusion Hybrid but first

Hybrid is the only way to go! Plus with the purchase we got a 5 day cruise from Miami, All-inclusive! The dealer rented the entire boat for anyone that bought or leased a car from him in May. It's HUUUUUUGE!!!!!!!

I own a 2012 Optima Hybrid and ive put around 2000+ miles on it. Its a great looking car however when driving in eco mode, which maximizes the fuel economy of the car, its response time time is horrible. What i mean is when you gas it, the engine doesnt kick in until after a good solid 2 seconds, thats terrible.....its not even nitpicking because it should be more responsive. When you are not driving in eco mode the car functions great but the fuel economy suffers greatly.its still a good car:)

That kia optima has adaptive learning to your driving habits, it takes a few weeks to completely learn how you drive but once it does it gets better fuel economy, shifts smoother, and the engine kickes in more predictably without the herky jerky ness. I own the 2012 model which is the same, and i work at a kia dealer.

Here is the major problem with this review. The car is a 2012 Optima not a 2013. Kia had not made a 2013 until long after this car was made. And the primary problems he discusses are the major upgrades in the 2013 model. So this is a terrific review of a 2012 Optima Hybrid, but is irrelevant to 2013.

I am still waiting for a auto company to make a Hybrid without a CVT, that behaves in a normal, smooth, none jerky way. Infiniti, Audi, Volkswagen, Porsche all have none CVT hybrids, but they just don't drive like a regular automatic. That's too bad.

Jerky transmission? This car is no where near jerky as a ford focus. It doesnt roll backwards on an incline. And it actually gets good mpgs. Looks way better than a focus. Its a step above. Why are you always nit picky of the asian cars but american you fail to point out all the obvious faults. When you watch all your reviews you can tell youre biased. This car is better than any ford chevy dodge in its class. Great design.

I am so happy we do not have this engine, gear box combo in the uk We has a dsg auto box and a 1.7 auto diesel with over 50 mpg mixed 60 high and we drive fast in europe on average 80 mph in most euro states 70 uk but normal get away with 77 The engine is quiet and the gear box is nice would this be a better choice for the USA.

Diesels don't sell well in the USA for several reason. Fuel cost about 15% more, fuel economy is about 30% better. The EPA stangled them with all kinds of crap, and the initial cost is much higher. Usually $4k- $8K more than the gas model. When you mix it all up. You have a pay back time that is longer than you will own the car. We pay $3-$4 a gallon for gas, it's just not worth it most of the time.. unless you are hauling stuff and need the torque. The new turbo direct injected gas engines are getting almost as good economy as the diesesl models that we have here. So no one buys them.

kens97sto171 see we pay $9 a gallon in Europe and the UK, when buying cars the price difference is normal nothing to $1000 depending on the car manufacture like BMW or jaguar or Mercedes charge the biggest difference on average but you can normal haggle the price down. normally the tax on diesel cars is $0 so that's good and the road tax is normally between $0 and $60 a year . for the Kia we only have diesel, its $0 tax car so its good, and you easily get 54 (British) miles to a gallon and insurance is cheaper as well, also for people who get the car are part of there salary package the tax is about $100 a month so it work out good for them. diesel is very clean here, its low sulphur and many years some of our diesel have a special addative like add blue so the nitrate problems are also being dealt with plus all diesels have had particle filters and catalytic converters fitted so they are clean. the problems in our cities come from buses taxi and trucks as they are not so clean. you are missing the fun of the 180 to 400 bhp diesel cars they are fast and fun the BMW M5 diesel is quicker than the petrol car. even the Kia 1.7 d gives 138 bhp and with that strong torque curve its a real punchy car to drive plus the twin clutch auto is smooth and fast.

  • @keithnewton8981

kens97sto171 if you had to pay our full taxes diesel might be a good way to go .GM and ford have some good diesels to choose from plus there German brands have some powerful diesels as well

  • @keithnewton8981

kens97sto171 gasoline high pressure direct is good but you do not get the consistant MPG you get from a diesel most run around busy cities with lots of stop start and still give 49 plus and the golf and BMW Peugeot all get around 72 MPG. so it does pay over here. if petrol was at your prices we would not have had to develop these clean fast diesels

  • @kens97sto171

    @kens97sto171

    9 жыл бұрын

keith Newton That's why diesel is popular ove there and not here. Here it does not make economic sense to have them, for the most part. Also the Clean Diesels we get, are not really that much more fuel efficient than the Gas Direct injected cars. The VW Golf TDI gets 30 city 45 HWY. costs about $22K base price. But you never see one that cheap, usually closer to $30K. OR I can get a Chevy Cruze Eco. 1.4 TGDI for $20K get 42 HWY. but spend 15% less on the fuel. Or be REALLY smart and buy a 2 year old Honda civic for $12-15K get 35MPG. Fortunatly we dont pay road tax based on what car we choose. We pay it based on how much fuel we purchase. No carbon tax, etc. Seems to me you guys should be really pissed at your Govt. Most of that $8 a gallon is taxes, not real price. You have cheap oil from the North Sea... NO reason you should be paying what you do. It does drive fuel efficiency up.. But for what purpose. If we had $8 a gallon, our economy would collapse. We drive WAY too much. Just the way it is. Commercial Trucking would be the real issue. You DOUBLE the cost to transport, cost of the goods go up, people buy less, it all falls down. We don't do nearly as much stop and go driving as you do. We get out of our local area, hop on the interstate, and get off, and we at work. NOW.. that excludes the really big cities. LA, NYC, Chicago, etc. They are a mess. But MOST of Americans DONT live in that situations... were just more spread out. Don't get me wrong.. I LOVE DIESELS.. I drive a Semi Truck.. How can I NOT love diesels. But unless you need to TOW, or maybe if your driving LOTS AND LOTS of HWY. It's not worth it in non commercial applications. You can really make the same argument with Hybrids. for the most part. Nice chat..
