2013 Jeep Wrangler Sahara 0-60 MPH On Road Review: Jeep Week Video # 2

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

( www.TFLcar.com ) The 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara 4X4 is of the most capable off-road vehicles that you can buy today. Of course the Jeep Wrangler can trace it's heritage way back to 1941 and the second World War where it was the Ironic go anywhere vehicle of American Service men. Today the Jeep Wrangler is the crucible of the Jeep DNA. but while Jeep can't build the Wrangler fast enough, many people no longer us it as a rough and ready off-road ride but instead as a family truckster. In this TFLcar review we test 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara 4X4 the way that most will will drive it....on road and of course from 0-60 MPH.
FYI: The Jeep Week Videos include:
1) Jeeps in the snow
2) Wrangler On-Road Review
3) 2014 SRT Grand Cherokee on Austin F1 Track
4) 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee off-road Review
5) 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Diesel Review
6) 0-60 MPH Mashup New SRT Grand Cherokee vs BMW X5M vs Porsche Cheyenne GTS

    Crazy that altitude makes that much of a difference 0-60. I gotta say I have a b package 2 door and although I never officially timed it, they have been said to pull a 6.9 which is nuts in a Wrangler.

    A buddy of mine bought a ‘09 Chevy Corvette C6 ZR1, and the car has never seen speeds over 90 mph. Just because you have a high performance car or one of the greatest off road capable vehicles does not mean you have to use them in the intended way they were built. John's quote, “I like the styling of corvettes, but don’t need the power, But if I ever need it, its there." Same goes with Off Road vehicles. Some just love the look of the specific vehicle.

    I'll be getting one eventually. When the price is a bit more reasonable. Most of those features I can buy for a half if not more of the cost that they're charging. Very good video roman. Only issue I see outside of pricing, is that it seems a bit cramped in the driver seat. Could you tell me a bit more about the front seat spacing?

    What it needs more than the 8 speed is the diesel, especially with the manual. Driving a modern manual turbo diesel, even at altitude, is a blast. The 2.0tdi Passat I drove in Britain would pull 6th from 30mph and I had it up to 130mph. The cost of my antics? 44.4mpg (US not imperial). That was with 260 ft.lbs the 3.0 turbo diesel in the Grand Cherokee gets 420 ft.lbs, Now that's an engine to rock crawl with.

    I have one myself. You should talk about the backseats. They are ridiculously uncomfortable. That´s a shame considering that you have a lot of space in the back as to incline them just a little. I know that a lot of young adults with family are buying the Unlimited Sahara edition, because is the perfect mix between a suv and an off-road vehicle. I had to modify my backseats because my wife kept complaining about them (and she is sooooo right). The designers must know this, I think.

    Roman, definitely agree with the new Transmission statement, but would prefer if they went with the ZF 7-speed platform (like the one in the Porsches) so they can go Manual and Semi-Auto (DC) from the same base transmission platform. The 7DT-70/75 DC and 7MT would give them enough torque support to allow for the factory EcoDiesel as well as AEV semi-OEM Hemi options. And thus they can consolidate on a single transmission platform, not the two separate ones they've been using for decades. And since ZF is a long-time partner, it's not like they are doing something completely foreign. That would give them better gear ratio ranges from both the 5-speed (NAG1/W5A580) auto and the 6-speed manual (NSG-370), and when mated to the right axle ratios, should give a new drivetrain bother better low-end grunt as well as much better highway efficiency. Going the 8-speed route means they leave the 6-speed manual out of the potential improvements. I'd perhaps say leave the 6-speed for the hard-core crowd, however it's not a transmission anyone is really fond of and has a bunch of long standing issues, I think many of us with the current 6-speed would be willing to take a shot with a new ZF 7-speed Manual.

  • @KnightShadey

    @KnightShadey

    Here's the overview on the two ZF 7-speeds that would be a better replacement than the ZF 8-speed IMO; www.zf.com/corporate/en_de/products/product_range/cars/cars_7_speed_manual_transmission.shtml www.zf.com/corporate/en_de/products/product_range/cars/cars_7_speed_dual_clutch_transmission.shtml

    Plus, I'd love to see them not only put in the 3.0L Eco-diesel, but offer either a Factory option Supercharger on the 3.6L or replace the 3.6L naturally aspirated Pentastar with the 3.2L with a Supercharger. That would give them both better power numbers and could reduce the fuel consumption. And being at altitude in Calgary, just like you guys in Colorado, I'd prefer a forced air engine rather than just more displacement, due to the lower return due to altitude. The Pentastars were designed for both Supercharger and Turbos as optional add-ons, and for off-roading linear power delivery an fuel efficiency, I'd prefer the SuperCharger. Sure superchargers don't improve fuel efficiency per se, but if they took the already efficient 3.2L and added the charger, it would likely be more efficient than the fairly efficient 3.6L when highway-mileing, yet offer more power (especially torque) when need for either acceleration (the subject of this video) or stump-pulling/rock-crawling. I personally don't want the diesel, because I ski with my Rubicon, and leaving a diesel in -40 degree temperatures for hours without being plugged in is a lot harder to start a diesel than a petrol/gasoline engine, even with diesel additives and hoping glow plugs will do the trick after that long a time out in the wilderness. I've had no trouble starting the 3.6L pentastar in -50 weather after a day World Cup race preparations thanks to the assistance of fully synthetic 0 weight oil, and a good Optima Yellow-top AGM battery.

    I'm really close to buying one, so I'm nervous if I'm making the wrong choice here, so I have a few questions for the wrangler owners out there. How would you rate the following, seat comfort, internal technology, daily on-road use, and fuel efficiency.

  • @ivanmatz5812

    @ivanmatz5812

    8 жыл бұрын

    +X Maneuver Seat confort is reasonable and so is the technology, if you do not care about autonomous features, because it has none. If you have tires that are good on-road, it will be pretty good under 60mph. Fuel efficiency isn't too bad if you drive carefully, and I don't know what you mean by 'the following'.

  • @GaynNovi

    @GaynNovi

    +X Maneuver The Wrangler is the big boy toy that everybody should own once, I've been driving them since 1992 and haven't stopped. I own a new Wrangler 4d Sahara and new GC Limited, I drive them both equally and love both. I really wish they would throw the 8sp my GC has into the Wrangler, it would make for smoother shifts and better gas. With that said if I need to get someplace in a hurry I wouldn't take the Wrangler, it has power if you need to but I rather enjoy it getting dirty in the mud. The crazy thing is both of my Jeeps were 40+, it's crazy how the Wrangler has gotten so $$$ in the past few years and they have NO rebates ever because of the demand.

    Clearly, there is a market for this vehicle. Am a 2012 Wangler Unlimited Rubicon owner and can tell you, as will many others, this is the most off road capable out of the box Jeep ever produced. All those whining about gas mileage simply need to look for another type of vehicle; IT'S NOT A COMMUTER CAR!! It is what it is, and it does what we "Jeep people" want it to do. If you don't like it, don't buy it. But quit trying to make it into a watered down wannabe like all the other "SUVs" out there.

  • @tomburley

    It's got very little to do with the power since the same engine in the Grand Cherokee (which is heavier) takes it to 60 in under 9 seconds. It's because the Wrangler is geared for pulling power not speed.

I have been driving sticks for 25 years and never burned out a clutch, so I know how to drive them. To make a long story short Chrysler refused to repair the Jeep and it cost me almost $1,200 to fix out of pocket. I cannot believe a manufacturer would deny a warranty claim on something that happened so quickly .... So buyers, beware. I went from loving my Jeep to hating it

    I would take 2013 Nissan Xterra Pro-4X over this any day for my family. Nissan is much more reliable, quicker and more practical. It also costs less

    WOW!! I'm sick of filling the tank up weekly. I only get 14 mpg on my Jeep. I'm sure he said it gets good gas mileage. He calls it a car and it gets good gas mileage. Did I watch the right review??

    L P how far do you drive it? I’m planning to get one. My job from home is about 2 miles.
