Wow this Jaguar is totally stunning in every way, it looks and sounds amazing, love the colour and as you said Barrie it looks like it's led a pampered life :) It has to be a surefire modern classic as the big two door coupe, Sports GT car seems to sadly by dying out. So sad Jaguar didn't replace this car focusing on the F-Pace SUV instead. If you want an SUV buy a Land Rover. I'd buy this car tomorrow if I could. the naturally aspirated V8 makes it a classic already, they're all but banned now by emissions regulations!

Great review Barrie, you definitely captured the feeling of driving this amazing machine. Think it might be one of the best looking cars ever, and so much fun to drive. Bought a lovely Black 2012 XK recently as I had been searching for an n/a spec with performance seats as I'm 6'5 and they allow a bit more space in the cabin than the chunky factory seats. Took ages to find one but was worth the wait. All the best!

You are right, but it had never been used. It was stuck good and proper. I thought it was a bit of a duff design

Hi Barry.just a mention i loved your review of this lovely big cat,there is a clasp on the top of the seats that you unclasp to release the seat belt so you dont need to limbo dance under it to get in and out.great video.

Are they reliable? Im in the market for a 2013. How's the engine?

The backseat might not be useful for humans other than toddlers but my beagle loves the backseats, they also provide extra luggage space which is really useful especially after a Costco trip! Was really amazed that you didn't work out how to undo the front seat belts to access the rear internal arrear of the cockpit. Other than that, an enjoyable 'video' and you are very personable.

The key slot in the centre console is to enable you to start the car if the key battery has failed. I have an Artisan Special Edition, and on that the seat belt holders on the seats can be undone, The XK is a superb long distance tourer as I have proved with tours to Italy, via France, Germany and over the Austrian alps.

Achievable, for once. I've just turned 27, and am finding crazy deals on 2012 XK's. This is a car that was 90k new, and I've found it under 20k, with just higher mileage. But from all reviews I've seen, that doesn't stop them from running great. You've got this man. Save up $2k, put it down on one and you'll be fine.

That V8 noise would get me in trouble. So addictive.

The seatbelt loop is magnetic, so you can lift it up at the chrome piece at the bottom.

Currently looking at a similar 2013 XK, same color, configuration & miles … just wondering about reliability as it’s almost impossible to fix this car outside the dealership … anything to worry about?

I have owned 4 over the past years and each one has been super I have looked at DB11 and Bentley V8s and i have decided to keep my currant 14 XK convertable the value for money is fantastic it is an Aston but built better and much cheaper to repair I think they will become a classic in the years to come especially the Converter Its keeper and we will both age together

Is the side bumper by the tire plastic?

Nice review, very laid back. Love it. I got basically the same model, a 2013 in Rhodium silver and steering wheel on the left (German version). However, the XK back seat bashing to me always felt a bit odd. Of course it is tight back there, but for kids it is great. Plus, you can easily disconnect the safety belt from the front seat to get in the back. Just use the press-stud, which can be seen in chrome blinking in the sun from 6:32 onward. When my two boys where smaller (less than 1,60m) they loved sitting in these back seats. They felt it was cozy there and, as they told me, you can hear the engine roar much more intensely. So whenever we accelerated and they started cheering I envied them a bit. Great back seats after all - even if today mainly for storage...

just been out to the car, you were right there is a concealed clasp, i did try that but they were well stuck must never have been used, hower the do move now so thanks again

@@BarrieCrampton You’re welcome. Hopefully Jaguar will make a new XK with proper back seats in 2021, as I read somewhere lately. But even if, I am afraid they’ll never do a naturally aspirated V8 again. Sad. So this model here may be the last of its kind. Unique sound, unique …. everything.

This is such a nice car. I only wish I knew your height so I can judge if I would fit in it. Being 6'6 my options for coupes aren't to many. Especially for European cars.

Hate to say but I prefer the earlier version of that shape from 2006, the later ones just seem a bit over embellished on the styling.

Unfortunately it will depreciate and only hold it's value if you don't drive it. You can pick up early 4.2's for £8k with average mileage. Cracking cars and manage to keep under the radar. Aluminium too.

Why do folks buy these beautiful cars in black or shades of grey.. It looks stunning in this Italian Racing Red..

I think the old XK8 looks best in convertible form, and the new XK looks best in coupe form.

Its a beautiful car, but not the most economical so even though you may attract them unless you have your own oil well you may not be able to afford to take them out :-)

The XK 's lost me when the dashboard disposed of the woodgrain. To me as the driver the aesthetics need to work from the driver view point as well and the XK8 did that, the heritage more than the sport, the sport's were too dark in the timber.

Doesn't have rusty brake hubs because it has disks all round. Car salesman! ...... nice car though.

Piano Black in Jags are not plastic. It is real veneer dyed black throughout, pressed and bonded onto the aluminium casting, buffed to the smoothest possible finish before being lacquered and buffed again for the high gloss finish. Yes, compared to the traditional veneers, or the aluminium finishers, it will, just like a black exterior paint colours, show up any blemishes to a greater degree, but no way is it plastic. I ought to know, I was the goddam buyer responsible for procuring all of the veneers consumed by the Browns Lane veneer manufacturing centre for almost 20 years.

This is not a portfolio XKR.
