    I was worried about doing it myself but after watching your video I thought I would try. I’m very happy to say that it took longer unpacking the Amazon box then it did putting both sides on. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

    Great vid. Thanks! I am going to go forth and fix my back hatch which we realized was broken when it smacked my husband in the head as I was taking him to the airport and 4:00 in the morning earlier this week. Great way to start a trip! (I'm assuming that the 1 thumbs down on this is your unjustly accused wife? :) )

    Hi Kelly, sorry to hear about the head smack. And at 4:00am, everything that is bad is much worse. Hmmmmm.... I didn't consider that she might have been the one with the thumbs down. But I don't think so, because I'm pretty sure she hasn't ever watched the video. Good thing! LOL Good luck with your repair, it's easy and it should do the trick.

    Let's start with the positive. Thank you very much. This is my exact problem and I ordered the two struts and will fix when they come in. Now the negative: You got ripped off by the parts supplier because a set of 2 tailgate struts with free shipping from ebay motors is around $20-25 dollars; (of course they are not OEM Mopar parts but it makes no difference). Live and learn. Thanks again. Easy to follow and learn video.

    Thanks. I’m glad the video was helpful. Yes, I saw some $25 parts online, but at the time, I needed them right away to get it done so paid more for instant access for OEM parts at my local store. Good tip for others though so thanks for sharing!

    Thank you for the great video! I have the same problem. Couple of weeks ago I noticed that I had left the hitch cap off and opened the gate with the key fob and when it started to rise, I stuck my head in to look for it and suddenly I was struck to the top of my skull really hard, I was dizzy for a while…. I know, stupid of me, I usually wait for the gate to open all the way before going in. Today I opened it again to get some oil and yes, I waited and I was shocked to see how it apparently struck me earlier…. I was lucky not to sustain any greater injury… I tried to open it manually and the motor opened the lock properly but when I started to lift the gate, I felt a great resist and when I let go of the gate, it just slammed shut 😮 I guess the gas shock(s) (struts?) need to be replaced too.

    Hm! Our trunk is misaligned, could it be the hydraulic supports you replaced? That would be an easy fix. Would love to know your opinion!

    Is it a hatch that lifts up with hydraulic supports? If so, it very well could be related to the hydraulic supports if there are two of them (one on each side). If you have two of them, look to see if one of them has some greasy gunk on the end like the one pictured at the end of my video. If so, that one might be causing the problems. Good luck!

    Good question. I should have included that. This one explains it pretty well, but remember, there's a good chance you WON'T need to do the steps in this video. Yes, it was automatic from the factory. Even if yours is manual, you still might need to replace the hydraulic lifters if you are having problems with it. Should be the same part and same process.

  • @3SkipProductions

    @3SkipProductions

    Hmmm. I think it could be the hydraulic lifters, so it's worth a try. Maybe both of them are out which is why it can't lift very high? Might want to give it a try and see if it works for you. Will be cheaper than taking it in and tackling the lift motor. Get some off-brand supports to save some money and try it. Good luck! I hope you get it working again.

    @@3SkipProductions Tie something to the door from overhead (i.e. rope) or have someone hold it. The door is probably heavy enough to break your arm or hand.
