The whooping and cheering is a thing in reining, since everyone is commenting on it. Sometimes coaches/friends will whoop like that when the rider has done the right amount of spins so they know when to stop lol.

In case you still don't know, often this is used as a technique for the rider's instructor to communicate to them during the competition. My trainer whistles when I messed up and does a little "woohoo!" when I execute something correctly, and catcalls when I need to do a lead change (I forget those easily lmao).

I am just going to say this: A horses head is naturally in a "graze position" or lowered. Horses naturally stop quickly not using the shoulders but the hips. The rider could have stopped without pulling but this allowed a better stop. Some horses need a little pull. Reining allows the horses to slow down and speed up. Jumping a horse depends on the breed and history. Some horses are built for certain things. Western horsemanship only does things the horses do naturally. This horse can stop naturally and change leads.....ect, naturally. The split reins allow the horse to turn and extend the head. Roping and barrel reins are full reins to have max. control. Now please quit complaining! The horse is not in pain. Do AQH horses naturally jump? Depends on the horses geneology. I do lots of research and even some observing of horses. Yes I am 12.

The saddle isn't ill fitted. We don't use back cinches during competition therefore causing the illusion of a poorly fitting saddle when the horse makes certain maneuvers.

the head set is also there to show how broke your horse is, all horses have a different one based on their conformation. I have a Western Pleasure mare who carries her head right below the top line or some times even lower, that's just the way she is. I have an older Quarter Horse mare who likes to peanut roll at the walk; she literally puts her head all the way to the ground. I never ask her to do this, but the way her conformation is, she likes to stretch her neck after exercise.

It's true that headset doesn't matter to judges but it is definitely trained into the horse & could be trained out if you wanted. It's a personal choice for the owner/rider how the horse carries it's head. Anyone who thinks it's a natural carriage has never watched wild horses.

And it is these people whose horses have to undergo a short LDR, so the rider can and cleared his horse. It is these people who have never heard of Natural Horse Man chip and those who have never heard of a cowsens

i worked in dog sled racing at the winning level and i am now super against animal competitions of all kinds. reining has the highest wastage rates second only to racing. this is a cruel sport and very hard on the horses body and mind. if they took away the run and stop, it would be way harder to point out why this sport is cruel, but they don't give af, they know its hard on their joints and want to do it anyway. even without that part the repetitive training and bits with long shanks is hard on them. these people don't want horses, they want robots.

@@doggodoggo3000 Ik dog sled racing can be gnarly. My friend's mom worked at a racing kennel and they kept dogs intact with the purpose of being able to whip their balls.... these people definitely prefer having robots over real horses, that's for sure. The amount of horses that end up at kill pen by age 7 because of injuries caused by competition is outrageous.

@@goathead5073 i have heard the ball thing but never witnessed it. but most sled dogs are kept intact just because its cheaper and if its a good dog they wanna breed it. heard some guys would tie a rope around the dogs balls so can give it a yank, most people aren't using whips per se but there are ways around that. just because whips aren't allowed doesnt mean these dogs aren't getting whipped somehow. (if you have netflix there is a show called losers with an episode about an iditarod musher named aly zirkle, mitch seavey is another musher and in the show he says "there is a limit to what she would do" and hes talking about crap like that, whipping dogs and other horrible stuff. )the musher i worked for would whip dogs if they got tired just to give them a hit of adrenaline to finish a training run, hes the one that told me about the ball thing but we never actually did it. its funny you say that because ive never actually read that. i don't thinbk thats a claim made anywhere by PETA or sled dog action coalition, its more insider knowledge. a claim thats basically impossible to prove. but there is some truth in there i just know it. back when people did use whips i bet some mushers made a point to whip the balls, sounds about right in my experience. but yea, most sled dogs are intact. some of these people have several hundred dogs and they live in very rural areas, there no reason to get them fixed. if you are a competitive racer and you have dogs that are aging out or get hurt you just breed more, and if you want to start a sled dog kennel for yourself you just take someone's old dogs and breed those. just about every very musher is looking to get rid of a few dogs. "you are only as fast as your slowest dog" You can only make your team faster by removing the weakest link. and even tourism kennels want to get rid of old dogs, the kennel that provided dogs for the movie togo does "free adoptions" because of coarse they freaking do. if its old its taking up a spot and its just another mouth to feed, take it please. The beginning of the game "red lantern" is pretty accurate actually. the rest of the game isn't. the the premise of a person moving to alaska to runaway from whatever and then taking abunch of mushers old dogs for free and getting into mushing is honestly accurate af. its accurate up until the point the actual gameplay starts. the rest is just a caricature of what people think its like.

Arrogance, arrogance. You should try working with WP horses sometime. My filly is naturally level-headed. Like I said before, do your homework before you comment.

Nope, only horses with owners that don't know what they are doing have that problem. What you should be attacking is the racing industry

I hate this new head position that the big trainers are trying to get from the horse, so un-natural. Many are using Botox to paralyze the neck muscles to keep the head low, very sad in my book! Sure wish AQHA would do something, but they will not!
