    Love how natural and flawless this was. Even his saddle had no bling. When you are that great you don’t need any of that.

    why do reiners do that thing where they awkwardly jiggle their feet and reins before going into the next movement? (usually after a stop/before a spin). I'm not a reiner so I don't get the purpose of it, it almost makes them look somewhat confused/nervous. if someone could explain that would be great.

    A lot of the time it’s to get their horse’s attention. Sometimes it’s to help encourage the horse to take a breath, signaling that they finished the previous cue. It depends on the horse and rider and what those signals meant during training.

  • @myronschabe

    @myronschabe

    Ай бұрын

    It sounds like you might be an English rider...you have less/different means to control/cue the horse in western...like the other comment says, it is to get their attention, and move them into the next thing, but it is subtle and will depend on the training....since you don't have the same contact as in English it is a bit of a dance to get em moving forward but in the frame you want them in especially when they come out of those spins and you need to move into the canter departure. This could also be making sure the reins are at the length the rider wants them to be in order to cue the horse and have their head and neck be in the position you want them in for the cue, the reins look to jiggle when you are letting them in or out.

    Dakota Torgerson Would you enjoy having her life? Some alien being, smarter than you, decides to use you as his beast of burden? For his own amusement? Locks you in a windowless cage when not having "fun" with you? You're lying to yourself for your own convenience if you think ANY animal is okay with this.

    DP 63 I’m sorry to say this but you can tell which reining horses want to do their job and which are being forced and it’s pretty obvious in this video with how the performance goes that this horse wants to be doing this if the horse didn’t want to do this I could easily decide not too because believe it or not horses know that they are the bigger animal and know that they could kill us but they don’t.

  • @DP-jy2ge

    Dakota Torgerson You're lying to yourself. Horses are prey animals, and therefore easily controlled via intelligence. We don't need to be stronger than them to convince them they have no control. We use this advantage to enslave them. Once upon a time that was esstential, as we had no other means of transport. Now, it's "sport". If you genuinely think any horse actually enjoys being enslaved (and abused), more than a natural existence at pasture with a herd, I feel bad for you. Again, the lies we tell ourselves.

    Lin Framauro if you’re worrying about the horse, you shouldn’t be worrying. She’s nice and relax, the rider was hardly using the spurs and the horse had loose reigns. If you just don’t find this entertaining then that’s ok.

    Oh, well let's turn her loose to live free with those of her kind, who will make sure she knows her status in the herd by biting and kicking when she gets out of line. This will mean cutting her life expectancy in half, or less now that the federal government has started "putting them down" because they don't have enough people willing to adopt. A wild horse receives no medical care, no farrier service, and no relief from exposure to the elements. They die of malnutrition after years of suffering from parasitic overload. They don't have enough wilderness to support their dietary needs because there are too many humans. THAT'S the problem you should focus on. I don't know about everybody else, but if my vote counts, I vote you start with yourself. One less PETA junkie, focused on the details, with no idea of how the bigger picture prevents your warped ideas from ever being feasible. OR, leave equestrians, who bond with their horses and spend more time with them than with their families, alone, and focus on saving the lives of the horses that don't have someone to love and care for them.
