@@yunga8305 I don't like what they did with the rear lights, the front end just looks generic & the interior just looks gaudy & cheap, unlike the understated elegance of the original. I can see what they were trying to do with the waist line toward the rear though, making it look more muscular. Air suspension is going to be more problematic than conventional springs, it's much more complicated. No more troublesome than air suspension from other makes though.

the 2000s Mercs had a design that couldnt be perfected any further. All of them, including the SLR

I own a 2019 C63s - 2004 E55, 2006 E550 (with this motor) & 2007 S600 and I can say that the M273 is my favourite daily driver engine - really powerful for what it is -but also very usable and torquey.

His monotone delivery is priceless

Just bought mine after years of wanting one. I got a one owner car from texas. It is the best car I've ever owned and probably ever driven. It has 130k miles and literally drives like a new car. It feels so solid and well built. The v8 is incredibly powerful. It handles better than my g35 coupe. Amazing machine. 100 percent reccomend it. Once you drive it, you won't want anything else.

Do you have the air suspension or standart shocks? Im wondering how good is the handling cause im used to have really sharp suspension from sport cars/hot hatches and similar, could you describe it more please? And if possible compare it to something, maybe i might know the handling of that particular car, thanks in advance. Wish you many smiles per gallon.

Great video! I bought this car in 2014 from a single owner who babied it. Only had 30k highway miles on it. Like you I fell in love with it. Aesthetically and mechanically, this car is absolutely beautiful and fast, too. Also, it has been super reliable. Outside of regular maintenance and replacing tires, hasn’t needed any major repairs. Unfortunately, they stopped producing the 5.5 L in 2018 and replaced with the CLS 400 (302 hp). Anything after 2011 is inferior, in my opinion. They kept tweaking the body and by 2018 ruined all the lines of the car. The 2020 GT 63 looks like it inherited the 550’s sleek lines. It’s $100k, though. My only complaint with 2011 is the lack of total bluetooth connectivity. It allows for hand fee calling, but cannot play music from my phone without an aux cable. First world problems. Lol.

Frameless windows = coupe, framed windows = sedan. I had a 1970 Chrysler 300 that was billed as a four door coupe. (And yes, I own a 2008 CLS-550)

@@aomar9449 if there is no b pillar when the windows are down, yes. This is why the CLS is a “coupe” and not a coupe. Basically, if you removed the roof and put the windows down, a coupe would be indistinguishable from a convertible

@@HybridBattery But they all have B pillars.What makes the CLS a "coupe" is the low slung silhouette, frameless doors and 2+2 seating arrangement which was unusual at the time. Not one of those features on it's own defines a coupe IMO.

@@aomar9449 the fact that they all have b pillars (unlike the 4 door 1970 Chrysler 300 that I mentioned before) is why they aren’t really coupes. Mercedes is just co-opting the word. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great looking car. I have a 2008. But it’s not really a coupe.

How is this AMG? According to Merceds Benz, there is NO CLS550 AMG. AMG is also nomenclature wit 2 digits not 3. CLS550 would be CLS55 if AMG 🤔

It has an AMG Sports package. It comprises: Exterior: Front and rear skirts as well as side skirts in an AMG design. 19-inch AMG 8.5 J x 19 light-alloy wheels with 255/35-sized tires at the front, and 9.5 x 19 wheels with 285/30 tyres at the rear. The AMG Sport package adds the handling and braking and looks of the CLS63 to the CLS550 without the big engine. I have a 2007 CLS550 with this package.
