Thank you all for tuning in to Super Mario Diagnostics!
Today we are diagnosing a concern of sporadic cluster behavior and no window operation on a 2011 BMW 335i E92 N55.
This is what @Samcrac would've had to do if he didn't get so lucky on his X6M

Looks like Sam found the right guy to fix his car. Impressive diagnostic skills, I must say.
Great diagnostic path 100%. Great explanation on the journey of pinpointing and system explanation. Will be sharing this on regular. Appreciate your contribution to the industry!
Awesome job 🎉🎉🎉
I always enjoy your approach to diagnostics Mario. Watching you do what you do is always filled with lessons.
oh dude i knew it was that module ... why didnt you ask me ... no man you're the best keep it up
Awesome job Mario . Everything checked and proven. Great explanations and a honest conversation with your customer. Can’t get much better than that.
awesome video i don't know if i know a technician as good as you are .. you also work at a great shop they seem to put a lot into your shop and its employees ..keep the great videos rolling if you can
Your in-house module repairs impress me to know end!
Frm normally gets corrupted with a loss of power before its gone through a full power down cycle so if the battery gets disconnected or even trying to start with a dead battery will cause this issue great work 👍

Great diag Mario thanks for sharing all that it took too repair this multi problem BMW. Great thinking process.
well done mr mario you had a plan and it worked job done
Great diag Mario
great video man , another great fix
Thanks for sharing again another good trouble shooting venture. All too often on these bmw's do you have to make sure to be able to understand how one thing won't fix all things and that there is always possibility of multiple current issue due to many different systems built into the car to make things work. Great example of showing this, thank you for taking the time to put this, and other, videos together as it is a lot of work. 👌
Love your hexprog instructions
Awesome video. I really enjoy your content. Thanks alot.
nice job🎉

Your videos rock! You're an inspiration and I'm longing to get back in the mechanic field because of it. Of course carburetors and points have since gone so it'd be all starting over!

Perfect...!!! 👌
I am late to this video, but I do want to comment on the "wisdom" of having an acid fume producing battery stashed in the trunk with electronics. I am thinking this environment has more potential to be warm and moist. With the trunk floor essentially sealing off this area, we now have the CD changer, telematics module, Comm module and the stereo amplifier all in the same poorly ventilated enclosure. I can't be surprised at the very high number of dead Logic 7 amps, and wonky modules scattered in the trunk.
Great Video!I fixed an oil housing leak on a Mini ,when I got finished the windows didn’t work , long story short bad FW module , this Video makes me feel better about me not doing anything wrong, the customer was very upset
Nice work Mario. The ULF/COMBOX was very common. Has been since the first unit. It gets very hot and has almost no cooling beyond the fins. Then buried under insulation and boot liner. Go figure. We used to have a small fan directly on the uncovered ULF when programming. Otherwise it would get very expensive, very quickly, haha. At least they moved away from the MOST loop which would make you lose all infotainment when it died.
Exelente diagnostico strategy, do you have any video for water intrusion diagnostico??
Super job Mario. Thank you very much. I have a question on this video, put I posted it on diag network, that seems a more suitable place for it.
Dear Mario, First of all thank you for your amazing videos and knowledge. I would like to know what differences you saw in CAN signals between Bad and Good scenarios. Thank you, and keep going!👌👌👌
Thank you Mario for the info. witch one should i get for bmw to read and wright the isn .
That's a great video right there, I'm working on an E71 X6 with sort of similar issues, it has shut down the D-Can. I can access the PT-Can using a generic OBD-II scanner but no D-Can. That's going to be a long couple of days. What software did you use for the wiring diagram? With the comm box not working, did the car lose audio?
Legendary diagnosis as per usual! What’s the difference between k can vs standard high speed can …? 🤔
@SuperMarioDiagnostics
Жыл бұрын
K can is a low speed interior bus, or body can if you will... Data rate and voltages are different. That's pretty much it
noice......👍💪🤟
4:00 you can dim the cluster, all Interior lights, and nav screen with the little scroll wheel by the headlight switch. That’s probably why it wants to m ow it’s brightness.
@SuperMarioDiagnostics
Жыл бұрын
That's why the airbag module wants to know it's brightness?
@FishFind3000
Жыл бұрын
@@SuperMarioDiagnostics that I didn’t see. Maybe they know if your brightness is low your gonna be closer to the dash trying to see the dim display and the airbag doesn’t wanna pop you in the mouth.

Nice diag! Always willing to learn that what make you a better technician. I'm curious where did you learn how to do repair module and with all programming directions of how to do repair? I think that's amazing thats why I'm striving to learn more and more try to absorb all of knowledge you know what I mean

Curiosity started it. Then i bought the autel im608 which opened the door to it. Networking with those who know about it too, lots and lots of research, then finally investing in the tools, and one by one, each module gets researched on its repairs, or ability to clone, etc I still have so much to learn though

Now this was one great repair. I got one question. If the airbag module needed to be disconnected . Instead of 3.7 hours to disassemble panels -could this be done at other place. Lets say theres a connector thats easy to get. And at this connector to depin only the 2 K line wires. If its possible to depin . I dont know if every connector can be easly depin , especially on BMW
@SuperMarioDiagnostics
Жыл бұрын
That is a great question. In this particular case, there is no connector in between the supplemental restraint system module and the junction box electronics module. in the case that there was a Connector, that is absolutely a good decision
Hi Mario, great video! I've got my E38 at the shop now for months while they're trying to figure out what's wrong. It all started with a failing start motor then they found the EWS was fried beyond repair. After replacing some parts some one found that there are faulty signals disturbing the K bus so they need to go and find where that's coming from. You went though all the options methodically but without being hampered by technical expertise I couldn't help but wonder: rather than disassembling half the car to reach connectors to pull, would it be an option to remove the fuse(s) for that particular component? I would assume without power it would not be sending any signals out?
@SuperMarioDiagnostics
7 ай бұрын
Removing a fuse from a module would not remove a shorted module from the circuit for example
BMW repair manual mentions that in such case, many times the module that is broken does not store communication fault message. Had you read through the faults if COMBOX stored that message or not? If such is true it sometimes can speeds up job
@SuperMarioDiagnostics
Жыл бұрын
Yes, if you look at the video, i went through all of the codes, and the Combox was not communicating
where do you get the hexprog?
can you send me a link to this ecu repair box i have a 2019 porche cyane with dead lithium battery charged it and cant reset chrge controller in battery found one oneline from cg technoligys to do this but was wondering if this box would be better to do this im not sure what im doing need to reset bms on the battery
Hola amigo puedes ayudarme con mi BMW.
Just curious would there be any way in finding out what the initially culprit was that damaged these modules?
@SuperMarioDiagnostics

They most common denominator with these failures is low voltage and repeated cranking attempts
What did you change in the file?
Hi mario hope your well! Can i ask Where did you learn all of your automotive skills? . Are you independent shop based or ex European/usa main dealer tech learnt... i Would love to know as I would like to find the fastest route to get up to speed ASAP as i have had no experience with faults like this or scope work. Ive always passed them back to the dealer as annoyingly i didnt have enough skills and never was taught that. I've been fixing cars for over 20 years in my own shop and no one I have ever worked with is able to repair things like this and they or i didn't understand the systems like you do. All the best. Kind regards Keith
