Rebecca has always been one of my favourites on X Factor along with Leona Lewis. I am a Eurovision fan and Rebecca would be fantastic representing the UK as she has such an appeal to the rest of Europe and this is in no way of being an insult. She would be a fresh choice which the UK needs at the moment for Eurovision.

Why am I crying when she sings "Make You Feel My Love"? Like really. This girl is the deal. There's gonna be a movie about her. The rest of the people you named are very soulful and Rebecca Fits right in. I agree she could move more, she stands like a stone, but her voice is amazing. She isn't one who can hold a note for long, but that isn't her thing. Every artist has their thing and she does her THING, well.

When she's nervous she quivers and is part of her appeal and the choice of how she sings which is subdued, as if she feels she can't belt or hold notes long without breaking into a quiver and cracking up the song. So she plays it safe. And also part of her non commercialness, since she's more an intimate and soulful singer, like her shy personality and quivering indicates too. The below song link, Fighting Suspicion, she seems to have it all together and belting more and less quivering. Each to their own though. ok now I have listened to enough of her... she always makes it... her timing is always there... but her voice bottoms out both ways up or down very fast... and she does screw up all the endings... falls out of tone... and an interesting thing, she is a class act in her sophistication, but she is such a statue that they could put her on a 1000ft pylon any time and she would sing her song just the same way, no insurance needed. as if she lacks 'coffre' ... yet born with a talent that allows her to fall in the groove of music. I am not sure but it feels as if her range also keeps her from getting into the flow, as if she is being held all the time. It's a bit painful to listen to, but as I said earlier she always meets it... that 's it meet is the word... she just meets it. SOme one needs to train her to let go, if she her voice does not break that is... if when she lets go her control breaks then that is why she is that way. hmmm! She must remain within that confine. Time will tell as she evolves.

Generally, someone who is approaching the half-century mark has acquired a certain maturity and life experience that makes them more tolerant of dissenting opinions, especially about something as benign as music. Your 'voice' sounds much, much younger especially when you make unsupported assumptions like 'you were ...brought up to believe everything from UK is crap...' If Ms Ferguson was American, my opinion of her voice would be the same. Lastly, if you recall; those artists like Aretha Franklin, who 'have been in the business for 40+ years' , and who you imply may be unfair comparisons, also started out young in the business but had strong, steady voices.

why am i the only one that thinks that her voice is booboo ?? like she's super shaky , she has no control & where i come from , that's not a soulful voice . aretha franklin , diana ross , sam cooke , whitney houston , alicia keys , lauryn hill , marvin gaye , ray charles .. the greats ! are the ones with soulful voices . she has that bs voice that everybody's trying mimic . she's effing gorgeous but i'm just not feeling her voice at all . had she been not as pretty as she is , she wouldn't have even made it past her audition .she gets better as the season progresses but its just ... not good . yikes . & then there's other people who are amazing or at least decent at their audition that are frowned upon & said to have little to no talent & needless to say its usually the black people . where's the talent gone ?

Briana Robinson, I am also confounded, She is very pretty and seems really sweet but not feeling the voice, It IS distinctive but not strong, steady or powerful; adjectives that I associate with 'soulful'.

***** dude , there's people's voices from the UK that are really good in my opinion . don't assume shit you don't know . that irritates the hell out of me when people put ethnicity or nationality into something because they're different & feel a different way . like its MY damn opinion . dude , you don't know what goes on in my household . i was raised listening to MANY different cultures . i'm not even thinking about her nationality ! i'm stating how i feel . at the end of the day , i compared her to other singers because they worked their way up to a soulful voice or they were born with it . God gives us all different talents & gifts & a SOULFUL voice is not one of them for her . she needs work . period . fuck her nationality . excuse my language , mate , but you just pissed me all the way off . how are you going to tell ME how *_I_* was raised ??? I agree with you Briana Robinson! Coming from a professionally trained, diverse singer. Ive definitley heard better. And I just cant stand her breath control! Her vibrato is all over the place. Not to say potiental isnt there but in my opinion I cant get past the shaky vocals. Its irritating and hard for me to listen to. I really think it sounds like shes trying to mimic the greats! Billy holiday ring a bell? But everyone has their opinion and some people really like this kind of sound. I just happen to not be one of them. So again, I agree!
