    I’ve fitted a lot of clutches in my 40 years of being in the motor trade and to this day the best engineered and quickest way of replacement was the well thought of Vauxhall’s cavalier half an hour was the quickest I could do one in no gearbox removal required just pull out the motion shaft clutch in job done . Actually that wasn’t Vauxhall’s idea it was Datsun who engineered that in the early seventies. Don’t know if you new that Kevin probably before your time . Anyway another nice video well done.

    Thanks for this superb video, gave me the confidence that the job wasn't too big for me with the tools I have and on a driveway. I successfully replaced the clutch in my 2006 focus. You must be as strong as hell to get the box back up and on. I used blocks of wood and a trolley jack to lift it and it was still a bit of a faff. I didn't need a clutch aligning tool in the end (no point me buying one as I reckon this will be the last clutch I ever change), instead just loosely bolted to the flywheel then rotated and checked that the edge of the plate that's just visible was even. Thanks again

  • @WMCS

    @WMCS

    4 жыл бұрын

    offbeatwarble the rear main seal was ok. It was the CSC that failed causing all the mess in the gearbox... Rubber grease is far superior in my opinion especially on the spline because it doesn’t break down with moisture it doesn’t get affected by the dry rust build up from the spline to the clutch plate due to it’s anti oxidising properties. And most importantly it doesn’t stick so it’ll always release the clutch and prevent binding which can cause the clutch friction plate to wear prematurely . Are you a mechanic yourself ..

    Aye Kevin Just changed the clutch kit with a gsf kit cost £130 on sale everything went straight forward followed your video to the T and also torqued all bolts back up car drives perfect engages and disengages perfect just get a grumbling/chatter noise at idle once car is warm only with clutch pedal released.. I press the clutch the noise goes away noise can only be heard when music off so it’s a little noise and can only be heard at low revs soon as I Rev noise fully gone.. any ideas?? Cheap clutch kit from gsf? Clutch disk springs ? Changed the concentric for a sachs as thought maybe that but noise still persists?… Thanks for help!! You the man!

    Quick one fella we changed a pals gearbox on the same car Ford Focus facelift and now he’s got a hard clutch pedal with a lot of pressure when releasing the pedal (like the pressure plate springs are extra extra hard!) any ideas or clues what could of gone wrong? He had whole clutch kit changed 5 months ago the gearbox codes matched apart from last digit but I doubt that is causing a harder pedal? Clutch works as should no slilping or nothing any ideas? Master and slave also been changed ?….

    Good job FairPlay , I've got a fiesta mk6 1.25 petrol with a broken diff , and my mate has a whole focus 1.6 petrol for sale for £150 , will the focus running gear fit directly into my fiesta ? I believe they're the same engine the fiesta and focus 1.6 , I need a bigger engine anyway so

    The earlier ones were a straight swap .,, but the later ones the bell housing is about an inch deeper .,, eventho they fit but will fail the csc as it doesn’t compress the clutch.

In , I could do with a 1.6 any way , not enough torque in the 1.2 lol , you recon it will fit as the engines are pretty simmilar , I'd use the fiesta shafts and engine/gearbox mounts but will be going polybushes soon anyway

    Only for performance clutch as the pressure plate are firmer to hold the extra torque from bhp.. but that’s how they work performance clutch. Otherwise it may be the wrong pressure plate the way you’re describing
