Hello Im from USA. Great video - thank you! There must still be a lot of old Focuses in the UK. Very similar to my North American 2002 Focus wagon Zetec 5-speed. That car needs a front suspension alignment and new tires! Cheers Paul (in MA USA) ps Just curious if the mask was because of Covid or cold?
@WMCS
3 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul .., they are pretty much the same engine if not identical..,,, The chap that owns the car is a fairly old dude ..,, he’ll get round to sorting out the extras ..., good spotting tho ..., The mask is not really for Covid ..,, it’s firstly for the extreme cold during winter ..., otherwise I can’t feel my face and can’t speak after a few mins ...😁.., But most importantly it’s for protection against any dirt or oil and most of all the old clutch dust ...,, I can’t take any chance to getting exposed on a daily basis. The work is hard and environment quite harsh on the body .... I try and be prepared the best I can .., physically.., mentally as I work by myself and have the right gear... thanks for taking time to leave the comment .., much appreciated and a big hello to you across the pond. 🍀🍀

what is the black stuff you use to seal the slave cylinder in place, as i assume it stops the gear oil leaking out into the bell housing thats lubricating the input shaft bearing you can clearly see and also the name of the red stuff you put onto the input shaft and bolt holes.?

Awesome video! I'm anticipating this job sooner or later on 2002 Focus zetech 5 speed but what scares me is when pulling the second left side short cv after the long one what is that doohickey in the transmission. Hi Kevin, great video! I've got a few questions, if you don't mind. 1. You applied a sealant on the slave cylinder. If I am not mistaken, Ford originally use an O-ring there, but it was known to cause leaking issues. So, a sealant was used instead. Is this correct? 2. We do not have that brand of sealant here, do you know of another brand / model sealant that would be comparable in the USA? Morotcraft sells a small tube called "Gasket Maker TA-16". 3. Would Motorcraft long life grease work in place of the red grease you added to the housing? Motorcraft part XG-1-E1 4. What do you think about using Sach's spline grease on the input shaft? 5. Lastly, does removing / reinstalling the subframe assembly have any negative impacts? Thank you!

Whoaaah, what a destruction! How can that car move with that clutch! And how long has it been that way! It is incredible! I am surprised that it has neither damaged the diaphragma nor the flywheel!! You can use that clutch as a grinder!! At 6:55 much water came out. Maybe the rain drain was plugged. Is de sealant for the CSC silicone? Other gearboxes have an o-ring as I see. The purge for this CSC seems easier than newest versions where the tube has to be semi-inserted. In those cases I find it difficult to imagine that all the air came out. This time it seems that you relied more on the spanners to fasten the gearbox bolts than your M18. Why? Space? You missed the spanners? :-) And this time you fastened them after rasing the gearbox. Other occasions are the contrary. Last: is it allowed to work on the pavement there? Here it is not, if it is public. Maybe that was not the case. Thanks a lot! Hope you can still working and waiting for next!

Robert Baird thanks a lot for the review ... if I’ve never done a model before. Firstly I get really excited. Then I take about 5 mins and have a look around the engine bay and underneath.... The first thing I try and determine is wether it’s got a partial or full subframe. To determine wether the box will come out or stay into the subframe. Then the locations of the mount. And without further ado I crack on. Always have my earphones on. Some good music. I tune out the world. Get in a zone. Come hail. Rain or snow I don’t really notice it .... I love it .

Don't be tired, Kevin. Please replace Clutch 206 too
Amazing video as always, i have a question if possible , for the same generation car but with the 1.8 tdci does the subframe has to come out or can it be done with it in place. There are split opinions on it what would you do. I am asking because i have followed your tutorials for so long and they always were spot on when i did a clutch. Thank you so much
Another fine job Kevin nicer weather what done the bell housing? the disc?
For how dilapidated the disk was, amazed the FW surface looks so good.

@WMCS

Is that to hold in place the spider gear[s].industrial paper clip looking thing. Does that stay secure during the manhandling of the transmission.?

Thank you!
Do you have to drop the cross member?
Hi, do you know if this had a spigot/pilot bearing or not? Some models don't have a spigot bearing, but I would like to know if the 2.0L Zetec model does? Thanks

How do you approach a job on a car you have never met before, do you just pitch up confident in your experience, or do you do some research onto any pitfalls? To be honest I would spend all day figuring out all the strange fixings and wiring connectors on modern cars. Great videos, great skills!

I love it .
