2009 Nissan Murano power steering pump replacement

My 2009 Nissan Murano with 260,000 miles on it was making noise when turning to the left or right side it was getting louder. The fluid was correct no leaks or missing fluid. I decided to change the steering pump. Difficulty on this repair is not great its just too reduce spaces to work on. If you attempt to do this be ready to spend time trying to get bolts with low view and small spaces. I replaced the part with a 2013 nissan murano pump they are the same. After replacing the pump the noise went away. Happy wife! Happy Life!
Thanks for looking into this video I tried looking for help on youtube but there where no videos I could find so I recorder my own hope fully I can help other owners.

Just did one on a 2011 Murano. Nothing but issues. It was a pain in the ass.

Nice vid, thx! FYI everybody: a fluid flush -- or -- conditioner additiive __can__ correct a noisy pump. It is worth a try before you go to the work and expense of a pump replacement. Again, it __can__ correct the problem. --- Didn't say 'always'.

i have the same vehicle and same problem. happens whenever the temp gets cold in autumn. starting to get worse. I live in NE in US. what i have learned from all this is i will never buy a Nissan ever again. the difficulties you guys are experiencing are similar to changing the nissan brake pads. who puts a support bar to block access to the calipers? nissan does.

I removed the belt tensioner completely, working it forwards then out towards the firewall. Alot of cussing as swearing was involved, but now to go get smokes to relax. What a waste of a Sunday.

Thank you. I got Murano 2009 80k+ and got steering noises, got a new pump and spend 4h trying to remove old one, no luck. Failed on those two top bolts with no access. I will rewatch this video multiple times, ;-) and retry next weekend. What a good timing...

I'm currently working on replacing my power steering pump on my '09 murano and I noticed that some of the bolts are 12mm. The top bolts are hard to access, but having a speedwrench made it much easier to work them out.

Update: Getting that top bolt for the bracket out is considerably easier if you take the idler pulley off as well.

I have taken out all 5 bolts, 3 on the front bracket and 2 on the back bracket. I still can not get the pump removed. It is however very very loose. Do I need to remove the long top bolt on the back in order to remove the pump? Any help is greatly appreciated.

There are 2 13 mm bolts that hold the bracket in place on the top right side of the pulley you have to remove the one on the left and loosen the one on the right in order to loosen the bracket enough to get the pump off. You do Not need to remove the 16 mm bolt behind the pump just get it loose. Bolts you need to completely remove. 2 bolts behind pump 3 bolts behind pulley, 1 bolt on right top side of the bracket holding the pump. Not an easy job.
