I think we would love it if this breakdown was in the videos- this is very, very important info to anyone really considering the car!
Thanks, LC890! The Ralliart is a blast, but it's not a cushy soft car... you either fit in the Recaro seats, or not. I could definitely live with it on a day-to-day basis, but would love to have super adjustable lumbar support and heated seats -- two great things to have on long drives (and cold days).
Thanks, IWI! Not sure about resale values. I'd reckon that many RA owners might be tough on their cars. Kinda comes with the territory. Is there a Mitsubishi factory warranty on previously owned Lancers?
Thanks! :) The V6 Camaro I tested was an automatic with giant 21-inch rims. This RalliArt was more fun to drive with gusto and it's *glued* ... but the Camaro is a rock star, no doubt about it ... that car draws a crowd. I need to drive a manual V6 for comparison. I also spent a couple of days driving the V8 SS Camaro ... now THAT was insanely great. Took thirty years off my clock!
I WILL BE BUYING THIS ON SATURDAY!!! WEEE!!! Have you got pointers on what to look for in a used 09 model? only done 44,000km
I'm about 5' 10" and I fit easily. I had a 6'5"er try out the driver's seat and he had lots of room with the seat pushed back. The bolsters are tight and really hold you in the seat. While I was able to test the RalliArt on gravel, I didn't venture off-road. The RalliArt is very different from both the A4 and CTS - they are much more luxurious. But I'd be happy to have any of the three in my driveway.
Ah, it would just make it more likely for me to make a typo in the video ... and that's a PITA to fix. :) I'm thinking about including the info on the review page on the website, tho. Many thanks for the input!
The Recaros are great, as long as you fit. :) I'd love to see adjustible lumbar and heated seats. This one is tons of fun to drive.
@mpgomatic Thanks, I'm thinking of getting one before the winter, the mazdaspeed 3 although with better than advertised mpg has a questionable reliability. I'm driving a 08 regular mazda 3 hatchback now 5sp manual.
One of the best RA reviews I've seen. I was told that these Lancer's have a bad resale value, is that true?
This is a great car, I have one, haven't timed a good 0-60 launch, but by my stopwatch you did it in 5.3 seconds, very nice.
mpgomatic: I have heard comments that this car is unconfortable to drive every day. Is that true? Also, did you guys liked the car overall or did you guys seem that something was missing so it could be perfect? I loved this review, Thanks a lot
The Rockford Fosgate sound system thumped, but it didn't have an USB iPod hookup, just line in. The EVO has more HP/Torque, Brembo brakes, Enkei or BBS alloy rims. Haven't been in the WRX long enough to comment.
@mpgomatic haha. Cool. I'm a big fan of the Lancer line up especially the EVO. I don't have a sporty car at all myself but I'm the same way, I do like going through corners fast and exiting them fast (to the best my car can). When your an enthusiast its hard not too, of course seeing car reviews makes you want to drive more "daring." So with the numbers you go with this car was "normal" driving? obviously keep it light but not to the point of hypermiler. That's still good.
That's not bad mileage you got. Although I have to ask is that "normal" driving or hypermilling? regardless getting mileage that good is great for a car like this.
best review of all.
i have a question do you need to totally stop to change the differentials between tarmac, gravel and snow or its possible to do it while driving ?
@rexandninja I will get a WRX or STi on the schedule at some point ...
@MrOdogowen Oh ok. So I'm assuming that the Ralliart would still be a pretty quick car despite the lack of power. The 4WD and Active YAW control must contribute to that.
Get those G8s while they last! Another one of our favorite cars.
Too bad i don't see many of these cars out on the road. i've only seen 1 since they've been on the market, and less than 20 lancers. These look like agressive and strong cars. I went to my Mitsubishi dealer and saw 3 ralliarts that sadly one was coverd with cobwebs, you think with not as high a demand of ralliarts, i might be able to get a really good deal from the dealership?
@MrOdogowen I wonder why Subaru doesnt make the WRX or STI with the active YAW control?
@007texan I would say premium. It's just like a evo. De-tuned version
Can you please review the 2011 WRX?
@drdude2029 No, the ralliart doesn't have a "proper" blow off valve so you don't get that whoosh sound. It is however consider one of the must have mods for a RA as the plastic one it has is junk, and the HKS one does make a pretty nice whoosh sound if that is what you like (although the HKS one is a bit of an overkill on the RA's stock turbo).
@katanamast279 because it has most of the stuff from the evolution except the power and a couple of other small things
@katanamast279 they would have to do some tests to make a really good yaw control system and that will cost a little bit and they dont want to raise their prices right now.
Can u PLEASE review the lancer gts?
are you launching it at 1:09 meaning are you holding the break while pressing the gas then releasing the break cause you RPMs are around 3k when you start moving
i have a question... are the hood vents functional? or just decorative?
@bigd901122 Yes, both vents and the scoop are functional.
@jwhyte yes...and a very nice one at that. Althought not as nice as the current EVO's. It is as good as the last gen EVO's tho (as it was popped from it).
Thanks for watching! :) It IS possible to get decent mileage in a car that's fun to drive. It's all in the way you drive ... stomp on it when you need to, feather it when you can ...
Thanks alot!
@GenesisWhip18 Thx! Seats are like shoes ... you gotta try 'em on ...
@WRfourfiddy not really an "auto". its more of an automated manual
@iceon23 not sure if you still want to know but yes you can do it while driving... i should know i own one
@mpgomatic it says that it needs a 93 octane premium gasoline.. what happens to the engine if you put 91 octane or lower octane on this car?? tnx
Normally I don't care for foreign cars, but I have to admit that transmission is pretty impressive! This car also has some style, unlike most Japanese and similar cars.
@rowsdower12 Thanks! I'm not a hypermiler, but I do tend to go fast through the corners. ;) It's all about learning how to lighten up your right foot ...
Base MSRP: $26,490 Premium paint: $150 Recaro Sport Package: $2750 Destination & Handling: $675 Total MSRP: $30,065
i hve this car run beautiful...awsome control
Does the Ralliart take Regular or Premium gas?
So in other words, its a Mitsubishi Evo 10 MR with better gas mileage, right?
what is the price in europe for this car?
Yep. This is a brake torque launch.
I agree!!!
i want one of those
They were considerably more expensive. I need to go dig up the window stickers. D'oh!
I know in oz warranty is 5 years and 10 years on motor and drive train
@Elnur12345 Better out of box performace...make that two. The WRX has more power and better tires. However as soon as you need new tires, the RA turns better (assuming equal tire replacement and not being forced to replace with stock tires). As for the power issues, well the RA is much easier to tune up then the WRX as the RA shares the same engine block as the EVO. Since I like tweaking my cars, I like the RA better. For people who don't...as much as I hate to say it, the WRX is better.
@Egahm23 Get an oil change every 3k miles and your fine. Older turbos needed to be warmed up and cooled down...the new designs have that taken care of so you don't have to worry about that aspect. But oil change is critical. No it can go another 500 miles, you need to change the oil religiously for turbo cars. Also the tranny needs to be flushed every 30k miles for this car for most drivers. Since the tranny is a 12 grand piece, blowing that is much worse then a blown turbo.
Turbocharged engines tend to require premium. Less octane = less happy. Performance can suffer in the least, and you run the risk of damaging the engine with low octane fuel.
@BraylenPA Right...because 28 grand is the same as 35 grand...no wait it's not. Oh I know 28 grand is the same as a 53 grand then(lowest price jag). No that's not right either. Besides which mitsu has $1000 cash back from factory or 0-1.9% financing (which should be saving of over several grand instead of the normal ~6% financing from other makers). Then you heav dealer mark downs as mitsu dealers are hungry for sales.
I would love to have a Camaro SS in the barn. Of course I'd need the barn, first ... ;)
Lancer All the way
@katanamast279 exactly
Ummm...no. Not even close. But you can make a RA compete with a stock EVO for not too much money (about 5 grand...2 grand of engine parts, 2 grand of suspension parts and 1 grand for a tune job).
This car starts at $27,695. I thought the Ralliart was in the low 20's. The Subaru WRX starts at $25,495. Why is the ralliart so expensive?
@MASTERHOLYDICK Power ain't everything...getting that power to the road is. The fancy drivetrain and chassis of the EVO does this exceptionally well and as such the EVO will beat those other cars you mentioned in an autocross race. Yeah it's easy to get the RA to match the EVO's power...or even exceed it a it...but to match everything else the EVO has over the RA is a fortune. Still considering that you can get new RA for 20 grand or less at end of year...not a bad car to play around with.
its the same car just a tightened chassis better suspension a re looked exterior and a turbo 4
@Zaheer Khan
17l/100km in the city and higway 25l/100 km????we are fucking crazy or what?? LOL
@iiTzIILeGiiTIIXiO Is this car like 20,000 ?
Not sure why but id rather have this an evo.... but thats just me
It won't damage the engine, but you won't get the best mileage and performance
wow, for 30 grand, id rather get a G8 GXP/GT or a Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T for $20,000 and upgrade the turbo, or Chevy Cobalt SS Turbo Coupe for $24,000.
This thing is fucking fast! This is a bitch magnet.
1 man thinks that Subaru is better than Ralliart :D
@Karnage542 man, i envy you haha (enjoy your car)
If you buy this car, whats the point of watching your gas millage lol
@iiTzIILeGiiTIIXiO ALOT more power
this shit is way overpriced, fucking 28k, might as well just buy an EVO, i really wish they would make it affordable. At the price they have the ralliart right now, the people who can afford that should not be buying a fucking lancer, but a jaguar...my god lower the price
11stt
WRX Sucks
