2009 Mazda 5 serpentine belt replacement using zip tie!
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Today my neglected and forlorn Mazda 5 received a new serpentine belt. The job is fairly easy except for one part and that is where the zip tie comes into play.
Here is a great place to get a replacement serpentine belt:

You should replace the A/C belt at the same time and you can get that here:

Lets take a min to appreciate this man doing the ac belt with one hand.🙋♀️
i was about to spend a lot on a mechanic, but you show me that is actually pretty simple process so im gonna do it by myself. Thank you a lot Mike!
Wow! That's very awesome Mike. I replaced my Toyota Corolla belt, and now I'll try with a Mazda 5 (my sister car). I was pretty sure isn't the same way to do it. Thank you Mike, you posted a really helpful video.
Thank you for posting. Replaced the belts yesterday, using your advice, went smoothly!
Great instructional video, Mike! Straightforward with great tips - especially the zip tie. Thank you!

Holy Toledo. Zip ties rule!
Thank you Mike - really helpful guide. I successfully replaced the drive/serpentine belt on our 2008 2.0L Mazda 5 Petrol Automatic using your guide, the belt diagram was very much appreciated. The part number for my UK based car was Dayco 6PK1310. Need to come back and install the A/C belt once it arrives, should be straight forward once I slacken the serpentine belt (which was tearing, otherwise would have waited for the A/C belt to arrive and do it in one go).
Very comprehensive video. Worked well on my 2010 Mazda 5. Thank you!
Thanks a lot for this tip. I have a stretch belt tool but because the belt runs so close to the inner wing and AC pipe it wouldn't work as it fouled them when rotating the pulley. Instead of chopping the tool down I tried this. Perfect!
Absolut great Job! Thanks so much, it really helped me a lot! Greets and Danke from Germany!
Great video nice one 👍 and one handed ✋ I remember when I replaced my belts on my e91 BMW 335 I felt really happy and excited 😆 nothing like new belts can't see why some ppl chance thier arm and don't replace things. My belt came off on the motorway due to the water pump going
This saved me a bunch of money and time. Thanks
Thans for the video. It helped me a lot. I have a Volvo with the same engine but without a tensioner. At least it is not like yours, it looks like fixed in place. It is not posible to move forward to release the belt. Now the belt makes sometimes a noise when starting.
Thank you! Saved me a lot of time and money!
Super way. Thank you Mike.Polska.
That was really easy to watch thank you I’m attempting to do the same to my car and after you explained how to do it I’m sure I can do it,,,thank you

Good idea...I've seen some use a rag. If you take spark plugs out crank will turn easier also.

Hi Mike and thank you for your video! By any chance, don't you have a full video of a petrol 2L Mazda 5 Engine made pieces and after that put back again? My Mazda 5, a 2008 Mazda 5 with a 2L petrol engine, eats a lot of oil and unfortunatelly I do not have trust in car services in my city.... Do you think that's a job anyone can do? I mean, replacing the valves and so on? Thank you!
great job.. props from SoCal 👩🏾🦲

Off topic but i have an 07 mazda 5 with heat issue, have you ever had that with your 5?
Just did this today. I can verify that the zip tie (very tight) and a third hand at the top of the engine are both necessary.

To clarify, mine was is a 2014 Mazda 5 so the serpentine belt does EVERYTHING. No AC belt.
THX😁😁😁
Can you possibly do a 2006 2.5 vw beetle serpentine belt?
Thanks for posting this video. You saved our a$$es.
Good man with one hand , I’ll used both of mine I think 🤔 I can do it, thank you.

I have a 2009 Madza 5 manual power steering which is located where the idle pulley is located on your engine, the belt has been lost so I will like you to help me narror down the the number on that belt.
How did he pet the belt on the alternator puppy??
So finally you cut it?
Why does your AC belt look used?
Hi, I'm getting some hissing sound from that area, when I put wd40 it silences it for a while and come back again.. You reckon I need the belts changed? Belt hasn't been changed since I got it about 4 years.

@@PhotomikesGarage just to update, the hissing sound is gone after I changed the battery.
Can't you just slide the serpentine over top of the a/c belt. It's plenty big enough?
Hi. Happy new year. May I ask the part number of belt you used for the ac belt replacement thanks

Awesome
That's not an idler pulley,it's the water pump pulley
at 7:34 he uses a sturdy zip tie to secure the AC belt in the 9 o'clock position, which holds it in place as he cranks the pulley clockwise to the 3 o'clock position. DIY genius...
