The easiest way is to gravity bleed. Just open the reservoir, make sure it is full, and open the bleeder valve, let the fluid slowly leak out while keeping the level above the low mark in the reservoir. Do this for all four wheel. This will take time but is reliable, and can be done by one person with no special tools. Have done this on my 2010 fit and will do so on my 2012 Acura TSX soon.

All four wheel at the same time? What do you mean keep it above low? I thought the point is to take it all out? Thanks!

How do you remove the screen from the reservoir?
@bsouza16755 жыл бұрын
You should not have air bubbles showing as you bleed but just fluid. Your bleeder tube must not have a good seal on the fitting.

Be careful doing it this way. Under pressure the brake system reservoir could empty quickly and cause issues with the master cylinder.

Isn't it possible to just pump the brakes to force out the old brake fluid?

Yes if you had two people. I wouldn't want to open the bleed valve then leave it open as I then went into the car to pump the brakes. I would worry about too much air getting sucked in.

john21031 I agree and worked best for me, no special tool required.

After you remove the fluid from the reservoir (you can use anything to do this.....paper towels, a clear hose you stick in there and suck on the other end (have a nice long hose so you can see where it is), you need to fill it up with new fluid. And then while you are bleeding you need to make SURE there is ALWAYS fluid in that reservoir! You do NOT want to risk getting any air in the system! You should bleed the right rear first, since that's the furthest away. Then do the left rear, right front, and left front last. And I would not put any vacuum on the bleeder screws. That's just an invitation to get air in the system from an empty reservoir. Unless you have a partner that is adding fluid as the level goes down in the reservoir.

Well written post. If you don’t recommend using a vacuum, then if you are a one person team, what is your suggestion for pushing the old brake fluid out? Thanks again.
