Love my 2016 Fit! I agree with the battery. I've had a few problems getting it started in cold temps after it was sitting for several days. I took it to get campfire wood once and I asked the guy how much the wood was. He looked at my fit and said, in a somewhat mocking manner, $25 for whatever I can get in that car. He took my money and went inside while I proceeded to load the car with wood. As I pulled out I saw him come out of the house and the look on his face when he saw I had taken almost all of the wood he had out was priceless!

I replaced the stock size 151R battery in my 2011 Fit with the larger size 51R so there's more amperage on colder mornings. It barely fit, but worth it. I also don't worry about running the accessories too long. Hopefully it will last longer than the 3 years the 151R batteries have lasted me.

I bought a 2009 Toyota Yaris 1.5L 5spd manual Liftback brand new. My friends all own turbocharged sports cars and American muscle, but they have all been impressed with the the little bullet. Only 118k miles on it, just swapped out the factory brake pads last week. No problems at all with her. Definitely my favorite car I've ever owned. Subcompacts just don't get the credit they deserve here in the U.S.

  • @baronvonjo1929

I think we don't like them because one room. We spend a lot of time in our cars. I sat in the back of a Ford Fiesta. It is very impractical. Also safety. Good luck convincing a lot of people to get into a small car like that. Hitting a Camry sounds like a death sentence. And then style. Now this is subjective. But so many subcompacts really look like they were designed for other markets. They just don't seem like they would have mass appeal. I feel like American normally prefer well muscular looking cars compared to the cute blobs that dominate the segment. But that's just my opinion. And you can also get a used car with more space, better build quality, more bells and whistle for the price of a new subcompact.

I bought my fit sport automatic in April 2006. A early in the states 2007 model. 16 years with one problem, replaced the light switch on the stalk. That’s it. Easy to drive, easy to park, easy on fuel and easy on the eyes. Running strong it has outlived every car and truck of everyone I know has owned. Total maintenance cost is less than three thousand in sixteen years!. I have friends with German and domestic money pit cars who spent that in six months!. What did I do with the money I saved?, I paid off my HOUSE. Still driving the fit today.

There wasn't a sign to warn that the bridge was out and there was a big tall concrete barrier in the way and it was getting dark and I didn't see it till the very last moment and when I hit those brakes they worked so much better than in my whatever American car I had at the time. It was smaller than the 1992 Civic I had before but it had more room in the back seats and in the trunk. It was such a fun car to drive. My OEM Honda fit battery lasted 150k miles until I replaced it. The battery was over 7 years old, and never once, not ONCE, left me stranded. I replaced it because it started getting corrosion much more than usual. I cannot believe how long the OEM battery in that 2010 fit lasted.

I have two Honda Fits one is an 09' with 140k miles and the other is an 08' with 85k. So far they have been great little zippy cars with enough space to haul around. No real complaints so far. I've noticed that in the colder months (50ish F) on the initial start up, the starter will grind on the 09 almost as if the key is held down too long. Occasionally the 08 also does this too. I've read that the Denso starters are more likely the culprit of the grind.

I've owned 2 Honda fits and driven 3. The two I owned were 2010 and now I have a 2016. I believe the fit has had 3 major generations. My 2010 fit within the 2nd gen and my 2016 is a 3rd gen. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this car! TONS of SPACE in every iteration and great visibility. The 2nd Gen fits did have some issues and I would say unless your really trying to save money I would nab a gen 3. The primary issue with my 2010 was the AC unit. It wasn't broken but on long road trips after about 90 minutes the system would presumably freeze over and spit out non-cool air. If I stopped for a break to eat and went back on the road it was great. I looked it up back then and it was a pretty common issue for these cars and at the time I was roadtripping at lease once a month to see my folks. My 2016 has never had the issue and it seems like something honda intentionally fixed on Gen 3. I also had the entire instrument cluster on my 2010 fail on me. Luckily for me I had a good Honda auto shop at the time that could hook me up with a used cluster and I had a tag on my door to describe the odometer difference. The only reason I upgraded to a 2016 is because my 2010 was eventually stolen and found by the police stripped of a lot of parts. Going back to a Fit was an easy decision. It's way cheaper to maintain then a compact hybrid like a prius. 40mpg in best conditions and a normal car battery, easy decision. Only thing I wish I coulda found at the time was a 2017 Fit, which is when they added Carplay, but when I was searching for one back in 2018, Fits were really hard to come by. Everyone had caught on and was driving them into the ground. I'll likely move into an EV after this but if the Fit is my last ICE car, I think I picked well!

As someone who hates CVTs, I must admit I was really positively surprised as I recently jumped in a Honda taxi with CVT. Here in Bangkok, where I live, most taxis are Toyota Corolla sedans with CVT. And when the taxi driver gives power, you hear the engine yelling like hell while the car is gaining speed. But recently, I had a 10-year-old Honda City taxi, a less-than-4.19-meter sedan, as they are popular here, with a CVT. You could hardly hear the engine. With my broken Thai language, I talked about the car with the driver: he told me that within 10 years driving it, he never had any issue with it. Of course, my preference goes for the Mazda2 sedan with a classical 6-speed automatic transmission, but if I had to buy a second hand car, then Honda, even with CVT, could gain my favor.

Scotty did a video on how bad the fits made in the last couple years were because of the "dream" something technology and cheaper parts. There's been all kinds of problems with them including stopping while on the freeway. If I were you I would buy an older honda fit. I think scotty did a video on good years for buying fits and save yourself the money buying an inferior new product.
