    Thanks for the information on the hidden jet- I just did it on mine. Runs great ! TIP : YOU DO NOT HAVE TO TAKE THE CARBURETOR OFF! I just drilled a tiny hole and screwed a screw in and pulled it with a pliers and the plug popped out, then I turned it counterclockwise one quarter with a small flathead and it is running like a champ. Run it full throttle and adjust untill you hear the rpm two stroke sweet spot ;

    I use my grabit damaged screw extractor to pull off the limiter cap. No drill needed, just stick the smallest bit that comes in the grabit case (4 bits total in the case) in the brass hole of the limiter cap and tilt it and that cap pops right out.

    My Echo SRM 225 runs like a BEAST for about 15 minutes and then boggs right out... if I let it sit for about 20min I can repeat the process however it always seems to "choke" out. It'll restart immediately but the moment I hit anywhere near half throttle it starts to choke even though it ran perfectly normal up till then... lower mid-range seem to function but the moment you get anywhere near the high end of the throttle it just drowns once it's good and hot I've replaced the fuel delivery system, cleaned the carburetor, changed the spark plug and kept her topped off with fuel plus of course always kept a nice clean air filter... I build gas RC cars, ride Motor Cross Bikes and have Decades of experience maintaining chainsaws, lawn mowers and all types of gas powered equipment yet I've never seen anything quite like this... I guess the next thing I'm going to try is to completely swap out with a new carburetor? I bought her new and never had a problem for about 7 years of residential use🤔

    I just bought the SRM 225 a couple days ago. Filled it up and it runs great except when I turn it on its side to edge the drive way..it bogs and then dies. It starts right back up and runs fine only in the upright position. I thought maybe it wasn't getting fuel but it doesn't matter if the tank is completely full or not it does it on both sides left and right full or 3/4. Good trimmer just wish it would quit bogging after I try to edge. First time I've seen that happen. Great video!

    What were you doing the last thirty seconds or so. There's a screw that can be screwed in and out , does that do anything? It's right above where the cable end slips into a slot. Also the moving part that houses the cable end, does it have an adjustment? I have just started replacing things on my srm 225, Because I could not control the weed eater speed with the 2 orange handles inside. I replaced those and the springs and it still will not maintain a speed. At first I could tell that the two handles on the inside were not hitting right, after replacing them , that fills right,but it still wont get fast or slow consistently.

    The screw you're referring to - "screw that can be screwed in and out , does that do anything? It's right above where the cable end slips into a slot" is the idle adjustment - it's pretty simple - you can see that screwing it in will increase the throttle just slightly, which will raise the idle speed (assuming everything else is still working).

I have am srm230 and it'll run great for about ten minutes and all of a sudden shut off. right when it gets warm shuts down. it doesnt bog out its almost like when you push the button to stop instead of run. I have changed the spark plug twice and does the same thing. I also changed the air and fuel filter. this evening I took thw muffler off and cleaned off the minute bit of carbon which was like nothing. did the sams exact thing. I havent cleaned the carb yet because it wasnt bogging down. runs great until this happens and wont start again for five mins. then wont stay running. What's the best way to go from here? thanks in advance.

I ended up buying a used trimmer to use until I get the echo fixed. I have a small lawn care business, and was happening while cutting my accounts. I'm honestly surprised I didn't say the hell with it and throw it over the neighbors fence! I read that the ignition coils go bad from excessive heat. Which would make sense because I use it all day off and on.

    Nice video. I grabbed one of these from the trash last year and bought a new carb for it after fiddling with it. It will run now but I can't open the air valve all the way...once warm I have to fiddle with it to be JUST RIGHT before it will run nearly full speed, enough to edge but not super clean high speed. Is there an adjustment I should make, or something else going on? If I go all the way down with the air valve (wide open) it boggs down it sounds like and quits. Guessing a mixture is off from the new carb...

    I had a model older than this one that I love. My sister has difficulty with tools that are too heavy and she actually loved mine and found it easy to use kzread.infoUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.

    It'll eventually happen again why not just fix the first one instead of throwing money away on parts you don't need and time waiting for them to arrive. When all that was needed was a turn of a screw.
