It is for service, the parkingbrake/handbrake is automatic on these cars. Whenever you drive off it goes off.

@@quavolaz6826 What do you mean? It does when you start driving, we drove it like that for over a year now. I don't know which Volvo you talking about but ours does it.

@@berkaymustafa8539 I have 2009 2.4 D manual and you can’t drive when the handbrake is engaged, and if you do the rear wheels will be locked.

@@quavolaz6826 I guess we got scammed then, on ours it kind of locks for a 1/10 of a second and then it disengages. We have a 2008 2.0 F Manual.
Somebody needs a new clutch. Sounded like an auto with it slipping that badly under acceleration.
