VTX1800 Review. The 2008 Honda VTX1800 F1 motorcycle review. The differences between the honda VTX1300 and The Honda VTX1800 are explained. I show off my VTX and go over the modifications that have been done to my bike and expound on what I find so intriguing about this motorcycle. After raising two kids and finishing school, I decided its time to get back on two wheels and enjoy riding while I still can.

My first bike was a 2007 VTX 1800T that i bought with only 807 miles in 2010. I’m a big guy so i had to go with a large bike. The bike was scary for a first time rider but i was learning good on it. Regretfully i traded it in for a Harley Roadglide. I still miss it to this day! I may search for another one.

As much as I love my VTX1800, truth be told, that Magna you had is one of the best bikes ever made. The late 90's-2k's Magna just barely beats our stock 1800's to 60, and definitely walks away from them in the corners lol. I was going to buy one before I fell in love with the VTX. I'm looking forward to spending the next 20 years, and 150k miles with my VTX, just being able to say that seriously makes me smile.

Former Magna owner here. Had a 1999 model. She was a screamer and comfortable, but I felt that the brakes were far too weak. Single disk up front wouldn't be able to slow down enough in an emergency situation, and the rear drum lock-up could cause a low side much to easily. The only shortcomings on an otherwise perfect muscle cruiser. Just my opinion.

I am so excited I had a heritage now I have a 94 vulcan 1500 but it broke down and this is going to be a huge upgrade. I already have a Honda VTX 1800-C. I'm fixing to trade My 2005 Chrysler 300C Hemi Addition for a VTX 1800-F3. As a matter of fact it looks just like yours. Good video brother thanks. Edit: Dude after listening to your story, I couldn't believe the similarities between yours and mine. I quit riding for the same reason, right after my kids were born. I stopped until both graduated highschool, and then I opened up a used Motorcycle shop. I was rocking and rolling until covid hit the scene, now I just keep a couple of bikes to flip after I finish fixing them up. Dude I have owned everything from a Hyosung to a Victory, and everything else in between. There's not too many a V-Twin bikes that I haven't bought and resold. I thought I enjoyed working on tractor and trailers for a living, but after I retired from that business" because of the computers that they started putting in them. I wasn't going to give a half a million dollars for a diagnostic system, just so I could tell what was wrong with them. I think I like messing around with Motorcycles" more than anything else that I ever done.

I have a 83 V45 magna that I mounted Harley hard bags and a solo seat with backrest and made a good size rack on. Also got it set up with forward controls and changed out the handle bars and made it fit me great. Rode it around Lake Michigan last fall. Got like 9k on it last year. Fell in love with the speed and power and became an addict. Only logical thing was to pick up a V65 Magna. I love the bike but like to not ride it on big trips because I sometimes lack the self control to not go full hooligan on it. I still find myself wanting to try out another bike. I want something with a more comfortable seat but still can be a hooligan machine. I've got my eye on either a VTX 1800 or a Victory Octane. The VTX worry's me a little with only a 5 speed. I don't want to be like buddy with a Road king that's just wound right out when we're rolling 90 down the express way. My V45 just purrs at like 4500 rpm. The octane has a 6 speed. Current market value of the VTX 1800's I'm seeing in my area are about half the price of the Octane's. I'd like to replace my V45 with a slightly bigger cruis r for bigger trips. No way I letting my V65 go. Thoughts on my issues?

Does the progressive braking on this bike work like this? If you use the front brake only it adds rear brake as well, but if you only use the rear brake, you just get rear brake only? I think some are setup this way to help with low speed maneuvering. Im unfamiliar with these types of brakes, but I remember hearing this from other videos. Sweet bike, thank you for sharing, be safe!

Very good question ! It is a linked brake system and both front and rear apply when using one or the other. Don’t worry with dragging rear brake during slow speed maneuvering as the system has a proportioning valve that keeps front from applying unless pushed with purpose. Thanks for watching.

I test drove the Suzuki M109R BOSS and the only redeeming factor it had over the VTX was it's power. It was scary. But it didn't turn nearly as well as the VTX; the VTX can lean going much faster in corners, and u have a much more comfortable (sitting at a table) position on the VTX. The BOSS had my feet out forward too much and I had my arms out stretched to the bars. I'm 5'8" btw. I think u may've got the lowest mileage F in the world. I tried buying the last brand new F at a dealership up north somewhere for $8500. They wouldn't sell it to me b/c I lived in Louisiana. They said they got screwed over by someone in Louisiana before, and now they don't trust anybody from here. I 'd have to show up in person to do the paperwork... I even offered a thousand more, and they still wouldn't sell it to me. So, I had to buy a used one with 3k miles that was a little closer to home. Haven't regretted it tho.

Looking for a VTX now. What are the main differences with the F model of the 1800 over the others? I love the digital gauge. In same boat as you brother. Rode dirt bikes as a kid and had manual cars. Never got my ML but rode with my father when i would visit him in Florida. He had an 1800 and a Rune. I was really comfortable on both. Lost my father over a year ago and decided to make it official and get my ML now. Found an F model for sale and going to try and snag it. I own a VTX1300S and it is truly my favorite bike. The single pin crank (1800 is dual pin) with V&H fools most HD lovers….often people assume it’s a HD. The single carb (re-jetted for aftermarket pipes) is virtually maintenance free and it cold starts with no choke. Yes, the 1800 has some advanced features and I would certainly buy one but my 1300 has that “sound” and feel that’s signature of a single pin crank (HD filed lawsuit against Honda..) Plenty of power. HP isn’t that amazing but torque is very high. Cruisers are meant for comfort and easy riding the miles of scenery, not competing with sport bikes, which pass me (who cares) all day long. It’s disappointing to me that Honda stopped producing this model because I would save for a new one asap.

People who say you should have gotten a Harley know very little about bikes. Honda riders do NOT carry tools ever (-:

It’s been a while since I posted a video. I have since gotten a Harley as well. It’s been very reliable this far. I carry some tools in both bikes. Not for me hopefully but for anyone who may need them. I actually came across a guy broken down and he was on a Honda. But it was a lot older with a ton of miles. I attempted to push start him but I think his charging system had a short and it wasn’t happening.

Probably will be offensive to some DA. But who cares? I'm an old geezer & I ride an 08 VTX1800 T. This is my 2nd 1800. Old enough for sure to be just a Harley rider but I don't want to have all the problems a lot of Harley riders I know have. Plus I ride long distances & I don't need my ass vibrating all the time. Only thing I wished is that they had a bigger fuel tank. That would help on long rides. I think the 1300 has a bigger tank. Hell maybe I will just have someone build me a bigger tank.

Great bike.. I have been riding for 45 years all different brands, but i have always had a soft spot for hondas..i went with the 1300 sabre. Bought it new in 2010. Besides tires, batteries and fluid changes I've had to do nothing to it. The reliability of a Honda borders on the supernatural lol. I've done lots of mods to mine, check it out if you like. kzread.info/dash/bejne/rGV32aige6-riMo.html

Probably one of the worst of Honda's VT/VTX line... a real gas guzzler at only 40mpg You really don't need anything more than 450cc to get you where you're going on the interstate... or anywhere else. Anything bigger, and you're just needlessly burning extra gas with every piston stroke. Just to have acceleration on tap, which you don't need and will never use unless you race on a race track. But if you race, you're not going to be driving a heavy overbuilt cruiser... with low lean angle clearance and poorer brakes.

@@Charlies_Riding_Adventures No you don't, actually. You want them to see you coming. You don't hear anything from inside an air conditioned car, even less with the radio playing or talking on a cell phone. Where a dayglo orange or lime green high vis vest like forklift drivers do. I actually ride with the assumption that nobody at all can see me, and I'm invisible to everyone. Increase the distance between and Stay far away from anything moving, and your chances of getting hit by anybody diminish greatly. If they're not near you, you can't hit them and they can't hit you.
